And also what was interesting was the audience, very vocal, sometimes cheering, sometimes booing for the candidates who did not pull any punches. So lets get started. Reporter the gop candidates started off aiming their bars at president obama and the state of the union speech. If im president there wont be stupid deals anymore. We will make America Great again and we will win on everything that we do. Reporter each vying to position themselves for gops best chance against Democratic Front runner Hillary Clinton. If youre worried about the war being on fire, you cannot give Hillary Clinton a third term. Reporter just two weeks, candidates openly clashed, showing the divides within the republican party. Trump and cruz over recent questions on whether canadian born cruz is a natural born citizen. There is a big question mark. Im not going to be taking legal advice from donald trump. Reporter marco rubio also jumped in. We are going to repeal every single one of those executive orders. Reporter Chris Christie has helped boost their campaign pushing their record as new jerseys governor. Im the man to bring us together to do that. Reporter and governor jeb bush once seen as a conservative blasted trump for continuing the call on the ban against muslims in the u. S. That will make it impossible for us to be serious about taking out isis. Reporter we are not going to solve this problem with traditional politics. The only way that were going to solve this problem is we the people. At the end of the day the country needs to be healed as i have heard a lot of hot rhetoric. Reporter and the candidates, they all agree to fight against any restrictions on guns in the Second Amendment as they differed on what to do about chinese goods and how to handle syria. But with the rates coming down to this test of the caucuses and the primaries, no one made any big missteps tonight and that it was very clear from the reactions from the audience that voters are starting to really see around some of these candidates. James first to you its crunch time just a few weeks from the iowa caucuses. What are your thoughts tonight and who stood out to you . Yes, after trump held his own, cruz held his own and rubio held his own. John kasich will get a bump from his performance. But the remaining slate to me was unimpressive. Although that he stayed in the mix, you know, throughout the debates. But in the long range i think that the top three have been identified. We have cruz, trump, and rubio. Not necessarily in that order on the top of the ticket. Brian now to you who did the best tonight in appealing to voters . Reporter ewe lee, my feeling is that trump had a very good night, not the lead with them, but quieter and a great counterpuncher with a good job here tonight. Hes the professor, also had good nights. But looks like they would win tonights debate. Reporter and back to you. One of the things that jeb bush is doing here a part of his strategy is to take on donald trump and today that he did that. I have to be honest though, it feels like donald trump walks all over jeb bush. And he smiled with the camera. Yes, it will not be well for them as they need to hit the table to pay for the microphone where they are von caying them in crisis. You a split party and the leadership will need to unify them over the nominee as they stated here tonight. An interesting point to make is that head to head that cruz does well with trump against trump. Rubio does well head to head against trump. But right now trump is really benefiting by the fact that there are so many republicans in this race, so until that gets sorted out, he will have these large numbers. I want to ask you about that follow up as he would go after cruz tonight. Do you think on the record that it helped or hurt rubio . He is very skilled with a great fact as i thought he did well against cruz who had a tough night in that sense that everybody is shooting at him. He looks very strong and particularly in new hampshire. Well see what happens as we go to south carolina, which has always benefited the bush family. Ben carson seemed kind of like an afterthought tonight. Yeah, i predicted that they would run in december within the first few weeks, the race in the same way. In terms of how low he made that mistake, that genetically they didnt realize that the other end of that is donald trump, explaning that values are 9 11 values that they would reflect those Police Officers, i kind of take it personally because im from new york and that they have values like anywhere else in the country. We are now in a National Debate as to whether or not that they will be qualified to be president or not.
