Ahead tonight, we will take you inside an elaborate Haunted House. This is a work of a teenager. The nuisance complaint from a neighbor that almost kept this from going. It is also expected to be a busy weekend at uc berkeley where police are warning students to keep an eye on their drinks after several people say drugs were slipped into theirs. Paul chambers is live now. Reporter it will be a big weekend here on campus. There is a huge game tomorrow and it is halloween. So, police say basically, you are on campus, they know if students are going to drink, do it responsibly. But one local group says that warning is not enough. It is friday, so let the weekend begin. Students along Fraternity Row are already celebrating. But Campus Police want them to be careful. Thursday, officers were alerted of a possible drug activity at some unnamed frat house. Police say people claimed that some sort of drug was slipped into their drinks without their consent. Those kind of instances are very pervasive, especially across all colleges and campuses. Reporter police say at this time, it is just an allegation, but they wanted to get the word out just in case. Officers know students will be out partying this weekend before and after saturdays big game against usc. That is why officers want students to take extra precaution and issued several warnings if you are going to drink, be responsible and dont leave beverages unattended. Drugs are everywhere and drug culture is a popular thing for students. I think that is an issue for sure. The warnings are helpful. But it doesnt, you know, get at the root of the problem. Reporter that is why the Community Group by any means necessary set up this table. They want to draw attention to sexual assaults on campus. An occurrence that happens too often without penalty. We are rallying around survivors who want to come forward. They dont do anything to punish them. They are consistently allowed to either reenter campus or they just dont do anything to them. A judge ordered the release of 51yearold robert bates. He was convicted against sexual offenses against several boys in the 1990s. He will head to a home outside the city limits of oakley. Neighbors in that area are upset but bates has completed treatment and is eligible for s p vised release. Two more possible victims came forward claiming they were molested by barry dugar. He is a registered sex offender who managed to operate a group home for boys without a business license or permit. Dugar was arrested wednesday and is accused of molesting three boys. Two of whom attend john f. Kennedy high school where he volunteered there in the sports program. There was a massive traffic backup after a tanker truck crashed on i680 near sunol. The chp says the big rig hit a tow truck in the slow lane on southbound 608 this morning. The tanker then started leaking ethanol and hazmat crews had to be called in to clean it up. All of the southbound lanes are closed and you can see the backup traffic for miles, those lanes werent fully reopened until about 3 00 this afternoon. Police in san jose have arrested a man for a road rage incident that ended in a stabbing. 21yearold travis David Painter was booked. He got into an argument with another driver and that other driver then followed him home. They say painter then stabbed the other driver several times. The victim is expected to recover. Investigators also say the injured driver followed painter home even though he had his fiveyearold son in the car at the time. Now to a developing story overseas where witnesses say a heavy metal bands pyrotechnics sparked a deadly fire in the nightclub. This was in Bucharest Romania earlier this evening. 27 people died and some 180 others were injured in that crowded nightclub. Survivors say the bands fireworks were a parking lot of the show so the crowd didnt react right away. But when flames started to spread, people panicked. One wince says some painted from the smoke and were trampled. President obama is changing course. He is deciding to send american troops into syria. The white house says it will be a small number of special forces to help fight isis. What led to this policy change . Reporter the white house says it will deploy u. S. Forces on the ground in syria. The military will send fewer than 50 personnel to work with Coalition Troops and forces in the fight against isis. Those special Operation Forces will be in syria and they will be offering training, advice, and assistance to moderate opposition forces. But they also issued their first fines. The water suppliers for the cities of Beverly Hills must pay 61,000 in penalties for failing to meet conservation goals. Major bay area water districts all surpassed their conservation targets for september compared to september of 2013 and are looking ahead. During the fall and winter months you have to check for leaks, take shorter showers. You are going to cut off all Outdoor Watering or reduce to one time a week. Reporter but a handful of bay area water districts didnt meet their conservation goals last month including here in hayward. Hayward used less water than two years ago. Federal authorities announced that victims of the two massive wild fires in Northern California will be eligible for 20 million in disaster aid. Those two fires started days apart in september. Burning more than 200 square miles and killing six people. The valley fire in lake county destroyed 1200 homes. The butte fire burned mostly through Calaveras County and destroyed nearly 500 homes. Reporter she is a California Pacific Medical Center to find out if the past could be her future. So i figured just to be safe, i should check this out. Reporter the answer is one door away. Cheryl is seeing dr. Frederica lofquist. A test for the one and two gene mutations will tell if cheryls Family History means she has an inherited risk of cancer. Most likely this will come back negative and lit all be good. Hi. Reporter the test is simple. All i will need is some saliva. Reporter a bit sloppy. So just start spitting in that. Reporter cheryl spits into a tube. Three minutes later, the easiest test she will ever take. What do you think . It is done. About six weeks, we should have the results. Reporter now, the tough part. The wait. The test will show if cheryl has the gene that puts her at higher risk for breast and Ovarian Cancer. The results could arm her with information to fight cancer before it strikes. The mutations carry nearly a 90 lifetime risk of Breast Cancer and 50 risk of Ovarian Cancer compared to the general population risk of 10 . Nobody wants to find out we are at really high risk for a serious disease. But you know, all the things we are testing for here are preventable. When star Angelina Jolie found out she had the disease, she chose to have a double mastectomy and remove her fallopian tubes and ovaries. I moved for the american cancer society.
