Back in April A Cleveland man showed the killing of an elderly man on facebook live. Instagram says live video is a new and growing format and the company will continue to make improvements. The original video has now been removed. In burlingame, police have arrested a woman after she allegedly stabbed a man to death. Police arrested 36yearold mia smith after they found a man with several stab wounds. He died at the scene. Police say smith knew the victim but did not elaborate on their relationship. The child is only 16 days old. They say after abandoning the child, mitchell crashed his car in fairfield. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. This is a designated safe surrender site, but the law only allows the baby to be confidentially dropped off without fear of prosecution within 72 hours of birth. He was the citys first openly gay supervisor and was a pioneer in the early days of the fight for lgbt rights. The new plan to name terminal 1 after harvey milk comes a few years after plans were scrapped to name the entire airport after him. The board of supervisors will likely vote on the measure in september. Police in oakland are investigating two more fires at homeless camps. One of them broke out this morning. The fire broke out at a homeless camp at 5th and market in west oakland late saturday night. Market, a homeless encampment on fire. Reporter the fire happened a block away from this fire in may. Both fires happened under interstate 880 and this is whats left of the tents that burned up. The flames also destroyed a traffic signal at the corner. A city of Oakland Public Works crew was busy with repairs which forced other Traffic Signals to go off line. Within an hour of the fire, Oakland Police arrest a 33yearold man for allegedly starting it but it turns out he had nothing to do with the blaze. There was another fire monday morning at a homeless camp at west grand and Martin Luther king. This fire was the result of a cooking accident. Some Homeless People used camp stoves like this one to cook their food. Johnny works at a nearby oil changers and shot this video. Ive seen fire and a couple explosions. Went boom. Reporter oakland city Officials Say there have been 60 fires at homeless camps in the city since january. Most, they say, were accidental. The city has an Encampment Management Team that includes public works, police, and fire that monitors some of the 25 large camps in the city and determines whether they have to be clean or closed. Encampments are not safe places to live. Under a freeway is not a safe place to live on any number of levels, whether its fire, traffic, garbage. Its just not safe which is why were having to manage these better. Were incredibly concerned. Its obviously an uptick in these fires. Theyre growing as the encampments grow, the fires grow. They expect to present formal charges to prosecutors later this week. Cal osha has reached a settlement following the richmond refinery in 2012. Chevron will pay 1 million in penalties and will replace carbon steel piping with new piping that has better resistance to corrosive liquids. The company must develop and implement new safety criteria that improves public safety. After that fire in 2012, chevron was cited for 17 Workplace Safety and health violations. The city of palo alto is celebrating its latest efforts to be a leader in clean Renewable Energy. The city unveiled new solar panels placed on two garages on webster and bryant street. Charges stations will be powered by the Renewable Energy those solar panels generate onsite. Officials say all this brings palo alto closer to achieving its goal of getting 4 of its power from solar thats generated by the city. I think its really important that we have visible signs that were fighting climate change, that other communities can look at, that the state can look at and that the federal government can look at. I think its up to us the way the federal government and rest of the country is going to show the way.
