Prosecutors today charged 18 yearold William Schultz with murder and special circumstances of lying in wait. But they say theyre not going to seek the death penalty. The 9yearold was stabbed in his home. In a jailhouse interview schultz said he wanted to feel what it felt like to kill another person. Schultz bond is now set at 9 million. And just minutes after the robbery occurred, police say the suspects were spottedded at polk and hayes. Its believed that they robbed a chevron station at sixth and harrison. And employee there called police to say that he had been robbed at gunpoint. He says the suspects then jumped into the car with two other men and took off. San Francisco Police also say they arrested a woman accused of a hitandrun that seriously injured a cyclist. Police say bianca lopez also hit two other cyclists a parked car and a garage near scott and fell streets before she sped away. It happen on april 2nd. Police say she was arrested last friday. Accidents involving mri tests are rare but we found evidence they are on the rise. Eric rasmussen is live with a concerning case that happened to a young woman. Reporter that young woman was then a teenager. Safety experts tell us her case shines a light on a problem that doesnt get enough attention. Loud noises and tight quarters its all part of getting an mri. But thats not what turned betty comings experience into a nightmare. When i was in the machine, something went wrong. Reporter last november, comings who has what her family describes as a mild developmental delay went to Childrens Hospital oakland for unexplained stomach pain. After a series of the tests including an ekg, a lawsuit alleges technicians placed the 17yearold girl inside an mri machine failing to remove the metal ekg leads from her chest and abdomen. I just felt a lot of burning. And i felt, i knew something was wrong. Reporter despite her cries for help, betty says no one came for more than 40 minutes. Her mother says a nurse later described how she found her. She ran across betty smoke coming out of the mri machine and she pulled betty out and my daughter she says was on fire. Some where around seven to 10,000 accidents a year. He says the total number of mri tests performed more than 30 million a year in the u. S. Have increased 100 . But other experts dispute gilks findings saying injury reported provided to the fda are duplicated or incomplete. What about those who say the data you are using is not reliability. I would agree with them. I would agree with them 100 . Reporter gilk says many mri accidents go unreported. There was no record of betty comings injury when we searched the online federal data base. Childrens hospital says it reported the incident to the state. The hospital denied liability in bettys lawsuit and declined an interview siting pending legislation. You can ask questions if you have problems. Experts say ask those questions early, you can also ask a doctor or even a facility what they do for safety specifically and remember youre in control, if anything doesnt feel right, you have to speak up.
