Reporter he told me that he had a discussion with the homeless man earlier and was defending himself. This homelessman tells me hes friends with the two men involved in the altercation. He says bailey also confronted him sunday evening before he got into the altercation with his friends. That happened with us earlier and he followed them and kept instigating them. Police are investigating a shooting that wounded at least two people. It happened at about 4 30 this afternoon. Police responded to 25th and wisconsin on potrero hill on reports of shots fired. They didnt find anyone. But three men later showed up to potrero hospital and gunshot rounds. A medical examiner has identified a body found in a burning camper. The man has been identified as canata perkins. Authorities did not release an age. Police made a discovery at 6 45 this morning after firefighters put out the flames. The camper was parked near the intersection of engles and van dyke. Theres new controversy surrounding officers. Theres word that the officers were running a club fight with inmates. Probably some of the most troubling and outrageous conduct that ive ever seen. Reporter inmates named officers involved in the ring. Adachi played audio of an inmate that says he was injured after getting into a fight with an African American inmate. If i didnt fight, that i would be faced with beat up by themselves, by deputies. Reporter lawsuits in 2006 and 2007 allege new sexually harassed male and female inmates. The city offered a settlement in the latter case. In 2009 the city settled another suit that alleged new sexually harassed another male inmate. Im extremely disturbed by it. Reporter the deputys are now on leave and the sheriff has launched an investigation. I do not accept any culture that would result in barbaric or unlawful activity. Garcia says he was scared for his life after they were going to take him to a second fight. I am scared. I dont know when theyre going to come. Im kind of walking on egg shells. Tonight an attorney for the Deputies Association is responding calling the accusations a complete exaggeration. In short, they say deputies allowed wrestling as horseplay to settle a dispute. And that inmates were never forced to fight. And adachi was accused of conducting a cursory sham investigation. Theres new information involving an escaped jail inmate. Authorities have arrested his brother. Joseph carter was taken into custody in lodi. Investigators say he helped his brother janel after his escape. Now joseph is accused of being an accessory after the fact. A 6,000 reward is now being offered in the escape of carter. They think he has left the an jose area. He was behind bars awaiting trial on child molestation charges when he escaped. Mike pantes signed the religious restoration act which allows businesses and individuals to deny service to gay people. San Francisco Mayor ed lee calls it discriminatory and has now barred City Employees from traveling to Indiana Using public money. And mark benion the founder of sales. Lubis and the captain patrick could be heard talking normally after the plane left in barcelona. The captain asks him to take command of the plane and left the cockpit presumably to use the lavatory. Lubitz then set the plane to 1,000 feet. The captain is heard knocking and then pounding on the door increasingly frantic. Investigators say it appears lubitz flipped the switch that did not allow the pilot to get back into. Police surrounded his familys home in a town in western germany. Investigators now say a fellow officer returned fire killing the gunman on the balcony of his apartment. That officer is identified as doug potwora a 16 year veteran of the force. The weapon that was found next to the suspect was very inconsistent with the type of wound that he had. Reporter San Jose Police assistant chief eddy garcia says a veteran Police Officer was standing next to officer Michael Johnson when the gunfight occurred tuesday night. The officers were ambushed. They had no time to react. Reporter dunham from his apartment balcony first shot at officers killing johnson. Thats when another officer 44 feet away returned fire. Police are not releasing how many times dunham was hit or where. This individual that returned fire, i wish i had a better word than bravery for what this officer did. But he certainly not only did he save his own life, he may have saved the lives of other Police Officers and may have saved the lives of other Police Officer members. Reporter garcia says that officers are on high alert. Police took this suspect into custody after he had broken into his exgirlfriends home. Reporter huskins claims that her alleged attackers released her near her parents home. He cried. He cried, ive never seen this pain on his face. Reporter as for the long delay before he reported the crime. He was forced to drink something that even the kidnappers told him was drugged. He was drugged. And there were at least two kidnappers. The explosion and fire also caused that five Story Building in the east village of manhattan to eventually collapse. A preliminary investigation found that it happened while plumbing and gas work were being done in the building. A Utility Company said it had checked the work and it failed the inspection. 250 firefighters were called in to put out that fire. A federal Appeals Court agreed to strike down a California Law dealing with concealed weapon permits. That law required an applicant to demonstrate a real danger or other reason beyond self defense to obtain a concealedded weapon permit. But then a year ago, the ninth Circuit Court ruled 21 that the requirement violated the second amendment. Now an expanded 11 judge panel of the court will reconsider that decision. Gavin newsom is moving forward with efforts to legalize marijuana in california and hold town Hall Meetings to vet the idea. Newsom is leading a Blue Ribbon Commission that has outlined the requirements of legalized pots. One issue is how marijuana would be taxed. And whether medical marijuana users would have to pay that tax. He says hes also concerned about the health and well being of children and adolescence.
