Just last year alone they served 350,000 meals free and reduced just in our school district. Reporter the department of education has identified 47,000 motel kids in schools around the country and say that the number of homeless kids in Public Schools has increased 38 since 2007. In order for kids to be academically successful and learn they need to feel safe. They need to have food, they need to have clothing, they need to have shelter. Four Home Invasion suspects are in custody one more still being sought tonight in the south bay. Sheriff deputies and San Jose Police locked down the neighborhood in meadow road in east san jose. They searched and quickly found two suspects. They also recovered a gun. Authorities say the victims two women and two infants were not hurt. Three of the suspects are from San Francisco, one is from hayward. Theyre all between 18 to 23 years old. A man is in custody tonight in oakland after he was caught on tape stealing a laptop from a tshirt store. But then officers discovered he may also be responsible for several other crimes. This is Surveillance Video from pure 510 on grand avenue near lake merit. It shows a man coming in last night, stealing the laptop and then running off. This Morning Police stopped a man matching the mans description and arrested him. He could be responsible for other thefts. That person we believe is connected to multiple crimes not only in oakland but in other cities and that ranges from robbery to theft. The suspect has not yet been charged, another man police say took part in the laptop theft has not been found. In San Franciscos Mission District people are banding together to try to stop the possible eviction of a pair of mom and pop stores. As rob roth reports its a campaign that pits merchants against another group, the catholic church. Reporter the store has been selling statutes and other religious symbols. The owner tells us he worried about being evicted. His agreement is being evaluated by his landlord, the archdiocese of San Francisco. The same is true for his next door neighbor the craft store. Because the bill is a tax measure it requires a 2 3 vote in both houses to pass. The bill would deny state tax breaks to nonprofit youth groups that discriminate on the basis of gender, nationallalty or religious investigation. Without that tax break the boy scouts would have to pay corporate taxes on donations, membership groups and tax frees.
