The prostitute charged in the heroin overdose death of a google executive on his yacht entered a plea today. 26yearold Alix Tichleman is accused of injecting the father of five with heroin and then casualty standing by as he became unconscious and died. And we understand that touchle mans attorney clearly stated why she had no motive to commit the crime. Reporter thats right. Her attorneys do not believe this is a murder case let alone a voluntary manslaughter case. They say she had no motive to end the relationship given he was a good source of income for her. She entered the courtroom wearing minimal makeup, showing no emotion. She spoke to waive heir her right to a speedy trial. Despite the plea to lower her bail, the bail was kept at 1. 5 million. The judge said he considered her a flight basic. Her attorney said blaming her for his death is unfair and wrong given it was consensual. There was no intent to harm or injury much less kill mr. Hayes. Why would she . He was a lucrative source of income to her. She appreciated his generosity and she had a motive, if any, to elongate, not end the relationship. Reporter Alix Tichlemans parents and sister left the courtroom without speaking to reporters. Tichleman who pled not guilty to all charges could face a 15 year sentence if found guilty. Prosecutors say Surveillance Video captures her not helping hayes but finishing a glass of wine after he overdosed in november. Shes due back in court in october. You spoke to the other girl who called 911. Reporter we spoke with her a little earlier this morning. Shes still deeply shaken by what she saw yesterday. Were at sharon green apartments. You can see one of the two pools at the complex. The medical Examiners Office said the 9yearold girl who drowned here is lahi hong. She drowned in a larger pool further into the complex yesterday afternoon. This morning, a pair of childrens shoes and a towel were still laid out pool side at the sharon green apartments. An 11yearold girl who lives at the apartment complex was among the first to discover 9 yearold hahi hong at the bottom of the pool at 5 00 yesterday afternoon. We got there and it looked like we saw them swimming and then i didnt see the girl before and we were about to get in the pool. Reporter the girl said she called 911 as hongs mother screamed for help. She started saying help. And then the leasing guy came in. Reporter a worker from the apartment Management Office pulled the 9yearold out of the water and began rescue efforts. Emergency crews performed cpr and rushed her to hospital where she was to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police say it appears she was reaching for a ball when she fell in. Hongs mother was near her but its not clear exactly where she was when she fell in. Theres signs saying theres no lifeguard on duty and children under the age of 14 need a parent to supervise them. Neighbors say the pool is a popular destination for children living at the apartments. Theres kids and theres parents there watching them most of the time or au pairs or whatever. Theres people there, you know, watching them usually. Reporter and today the doors to that pool have been locked. The assault happened around 12 15 early monday morning along Guadalupe River park trail near almaden boulevard. Police say Security Officers from a nearby business were the first to respond to the injured man. They found him on the trail with several deep cuts. No suspect or suspects have been identified. A safety group is warning that Young Drivers are often behind the wheel of unsafe cars. The report out today says the accident rate for teenaged drivers is three times higher than adults. The Insurance Institute for hmp safety says one of the problems is the type of vehicles that teens tend to drive. They tend to drive smaller, older cars which are less expensive but offer future safety features. The institute has some advice for cashstrapped parents. Consider whether you could spend a little bit more and if you cant spend more, then make sure the vehicle you are buying is the best safety that you can buy with that budget. Reporter the institute says parents should look for safety features such as electronic stability control and the experts say steer clear of cars with a lot of horse power. State regulators are looking into an earlymorning fire at chevrons richmond refine rip. As alex savidge tells us, investigators say it was an oil leak that sparked the fire, although chevron is offering a conflicting explanation. Reporter richmond firefighters raced to the chevron refinery just after 2 00 this morning after a small pipe carrying gas oil ignited. It took crews almost an hour to control the flames and no one was hurt. Richmonds fire chief said this was not a large fire but it was a dangerous situation. Were talking about a very small processing line. Under quite a bit of prp so the concern was, first of all, get the fire knocked down and the secondary concern was to get the processing line shut down. Reporter this fire happened in a Conversion Unit where oil is processed for blending into fuel. A state inspector with cal osha said workers were draining a pipe when the oil began to leak and immediately caught fire. But in a statement, chevron said this was not a pipe or a processing line that was leaking this morning healthcare and the company said the fire had this morning and the company said the fire happened in a nonoperational area of the refinery. They notified the county Health Department bup the fire and smoke but the fire and smoke didnt prompt a community alert. It was a much less serious situation than the 2012 refinery fire that sent thousands to the hospital. Those who live nearby say they dont necessarily need to know about every emergency at the facility. Officials from the Environmental Protection agency are discussing an 870page proposal that would place limits on toxic emissions. Attorneys gave closing arguments in the case of martins beach. The owner of the property is defending himself to a group of surfers who claim he illegally blocked access to the beach. An attorney for the Surf Riders Foundation spoke after court today about the California Coastal act and the publics right to access. In this state we have a law that allows the Public Access down to that beautiful beach of ours. Thats what one person is attempting to stop today in this courtroom. The mans attorney said the previous landowner allowed access but the man is not required by law to do the same. It could be several weeks before a ruling. Its believed this is just the first round in a fight that would likely end up in appeals court. This morning in San Francisco, a group of protesters tried to block the eviction of the Community Recyclers center at the safeway on Market Street in the citys castro district. According to a court order, the recycling center was supposed to shut down by june 30th. But so far, its refused to do so. Protesters say its a story of pitch verses poor. These decisions being made on hate. It wont fly. People will stand up against it. Protesters say the citys Homeless Community relies on the recycling center. Since the center is not obeying the court order to shut down, its now up to the Sheriffs Department to enforce the eviction. The oakland city coliseum is scheduled Oakland City Council rather is scheduled to vote on a lease extension for the Major League Baseball team in a special meeting. The tenyear deal for the as must be approved by the city council and the Alameda County board of supervisors. Last week, most of Oakland City Council was against the extension. Alameda county supervisors are set to vote on the issue in two weeks. Animal Rights Groups are hoping to block plans for a bull running Event Next Week in pleasanton.
