Just a few hours ago, agencies in San Mateo County announced the arrest of 16 people in a yearlong Investigation Called operation sunny day. These are several of the suspects arrested. The charges range from murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and attempted armed robbery. Officials say the arrest involves members from three separate peninsula gangs and that this is the largest case of its kind to ever be prosecuted in the county. Tonight, on the news at 5 00 and 6 00, allie rasmus will have more on the details of this operation. Emotions remain high after Malaysian Airlines informed families that flight mh370 has gone down in the indian ocean. Brian flores joins us live to explain why despite this mornings announcement family members are not giving up yet. Good afternoon. Well, families have been waiting for days on pins and needles waiting to hear any information from loved ones or from government officials that they found something while families received word from malaysias government and from the airline that the lives on board are lost despite no official word of wreckage being found. Now, during a press conference, malaysias Prime Minister says based on information from a british Satellite Company that flights last known location was in the south indian ocean, 1500 miles from perth, australia. Malaysia airlines texted family members and said we have to assume it that the flight has been lost and none on board survived. Officials would no go into more details off the pings or large reports of objects in the water that could be possible wreckage. I must inform you that according to this new data flight mh370 ended in the southern indian ocean. [screaming] family members of the victims, taking the news hard. Some taking their anger on news photographers. Others being wheeled ut on stretchers. The out on stretchers. The race is on to find the black box which will contain critical information. The u. S. Navy will deploy a flight recorder recorder locater a. Other family members are awaiting word that the plane has been found. Another press conference scheduled for tomorrow. That does not mean that many people are actually missing. Authorities say the list includes anyone who might have been in the area when the mountain slope collapsed in arlington on saturday. Eight people were killed. Rescuers said 108 names on the search list includes people who have been reported missing and others who are still unaccounted for. The number is i think no question to decline dramatically but it is a number that we want to disclose and say thats what were working with. Rescuers are sifting through several feet of mud and rubble looking for survivors but say the chance of finding anyone alive is remote. A bold shooting on a busy San FranciscoStreet Corner leaves seven people wounded. This afternoon, police are still searching for the gunman. San Francisco Police say surveillance cameras in this area captured some of what happened last night here near turk and taylor. This is where an argument on a Street Corner ended with gunfire. We understand a man last night fired into a crowd of people and left seven of them wounded. Take a look at some cell phone video posted online overnight. It shows the chaotic scene following this shooting with victims down on the ground. The shooting was just before 9 00. The victims were all men and police say they were all hit in their arms and legs. All were taken to San FranciscoGeneral Hospital and they have since been released from the hospital. It was a frightening scene to say the least for people who live nearby. One neighbor says he feels lucky he was not hurt. Oh, god, i feel blessed. Im constantly back and forth from my residence to the store here, and for the most part this is a good neighborhood. Like many others it has its problems. Reporter right now, investigators are going over Surveillance Video from various businesses and bllings trying to buildings trying to get a good look at the shooter. Police say a man got into a fight with someone on the sidewalk, he reached back into the car and grabbed a gun and thats when the shots were fired. With so many people standing around on the street at the time, police say its amazing no one was killed. He hit seven. I dont know how many people were on the corner there. But even though, seven, the chance that one of those would have received lifethreatening injuries is huge. To shoot into a crowd and hit seven is completely unjustified. Reporter police say some of the victims were uncooperative when officers arrived. Investigators will try to reinterview those people, some of those shooting victims in the hopes they can offer more information. Police are asking for anyone in the area to come forward if they have information to help investigators as they try to crack down the gunman on the loose after opening fire and wounding seven people here last night. Investigators say on september 22nd, officer jeffrey graves responded to an argument between a husband and wife. The woman was taken to a local hotel. But investigators say after dropping her off, officer graves returned to the hotel and raped her. Hes on paid leave and facing charges of sexual harassment. Oakland police are asking for the publics help in finding a dangerous burglary suspect. This man is wanted on an 80,000 arrest warrant. He and another man are suspected in a home burglary. Police say the other man was arrested but jackson got away. Hes described as being 58 and weighing about 140 pounds. Anyone who knows his whereabouts or has any information is asked to call oakland police. A person walking on a freeway onramp was hit by a vehicle this morning in oakland. It happened before 9 00 a. M. On the broadway ramp to northbound 8880. At least one lane of the ramp was shut down while crews were at the scene. No word on why the person was walking on the ramp. The Highway Patrol has not released any information about the persons identity or their condition. Some fourlegged helpers are on a Santa Rosa School campus today to help students get through the grief of losing one of their favorite teachers. The speciallytrained dogs are visiting the children and susan, who taught music there, was killed last week when a pickup truck crashed into her husbands toyota camry on highway 12. School Officials Say the trucks are helping the students hope with the tragedy. Whenever there is trauma or tragedy, just the affinity that humans have with dogs comes out and theres such an empathy. Its an unconditional love that the dogs give to the students. Susans motherinlaw was also killed. The driver of the other vehicle, 30 years old, was arrest and is accused of driving under the influence of marijuana and using a cell phone while driving. A 16yearold marysville boy is being remembered for sacrificing his life to save his girlfriend. Hundreds gathered to remember mateus moore. Police say moore pushed his girlfriend out of harms way from the train saving her life at the last second. The girl was hospitalized with critical conditions. But her family says shes wake and talking. Caltrans gave the media a tour of the old eastern span of the bay bridge. Tom vacar is on that tour and sent us this iphone video. As part of the first phase, crews have been begun cutting and splitting the midspan. Caltrans has decided to spend money to speed up the span. They expect the entire demolition to take three years. Reporter it was a busy morning at the dmv, people trying to renew their drivers licenses or registration. Even though the news came out over the weekend, most customers had not heard about the potential Security Breach involving credit cards at the dmv. You dont want certain people to get ahold of that information, so its definitely worrying. Reporter Law Enforcement agencies informed the dmv about potential hacking into their system. The dmv maintains theres no evidence of a direct breach but it is investigating out of an abundance of caution. Vallejo firefighters are looking for hot spots in a burnedout abandoned building near a homeless encampment. The fire started at 5 00 at the large buildinger. Sonoma and california street. Firefighters are still out there today. Investigators say the fire appears to have started in a nearby grassy area near train tracks where transients are known to camp. With the economy, we have several buildings in the area that are vacant and we have homeless that are frequently frequenting them.
