Police back in september booked jimmy zoo on a vehicular manslaughter charges, they said today she will be facing felony charges, felony vehicular manslaughter and two counts of reckless driving causing injury. This is the result of a september crash in which they say she was going as fast as 70, not 80 hours, in her mercedes suv before she rear ended a minivan, that killed kevin sam. Sams sister was injured, and his mother, a salsalito post office work arer, has suffered a broken spine. The suv accelerated without warning and says she did not remember making any attempt to push the brake, turn the ignition off or put it in another gear to stop the car, we have also learned the investigators brought in a mercedes engineer and a member of the Accident Investigation Team to examine her suv were told for hnidy effects before filing charges. Its seven years, but i dont want people to think that she would necessarily look at going to prison for seven years, we dont know at this point. He she had no previous record and a clean driving record as well. You had water cascading down the stairwell, down the escalators. Police say it was a chaotic scene when emergency crews first aride at 2 15 a. M. Hot water was flowing out of the broken line for an hour before it was turned off. About 180 degrees so there was a lot of steam coming out and then that triggered the sprinkler system. It left a soppy mess with broken Ceiling Tiles and possible electrical problems. Areas were standing water were roped off which included baggage claim and security. Confused travelers arriving for flights were still able to check in but they had to walk or take a shuttle to terminal b to check their bags and get screened for security. It was unexpected for all of us really, wait, whats goin on here, they told us the water main broke, we are running a little late, all the air flights here are delayed. The airport confirmed it caused several delays and at least one canceled flight. Clean up cruise worked for hours using mops and fans. Yards of stuff was spread out to soak up water. Two playoffs brought the suit and the judge agreed that their privacy interests outweighed the governments interest in collecting the detachment but the judge put his decision on hold pending a nearly certain government appeal. Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call santa clara police. A 13yearold oakland girl remains on life support this morning in a tragic medical case surrounded by controversy. Jahi mac mcmass was judged brain dead after she went into hospital for ton sil surgery. The family accuses the hospital of inadequate care that led to the girl suffering a heart attack after the procedure. The hospital is promising a full investigation. The Vallejo City Council plans to hold a public hearing tonight on a proposal to impose some pay and heat Health Care Provisions on the police department. The provisions including 5 cuts in police pay and a 25 increase in the cost 06 health care contributions. The city manager says it is necessary in order to close the citys budget deficit. We have about 5 million less revenue than we need for our Current Expenditure levels so we have been in negotiations with all of our bargaining units, really, since the end of bankruptcy, with the Police Association its been since may of 2012. It started around 8 20 this morning with the report of a suspicious package chained to the front gate of the San FranciscoPublic Health building on Howard Street near ninth. Officers called the bomb squad who shut down howard between 9th and 10 th streets, the box was described as being 3 feet long 2 feet wide and 3 feet tall. It is unclear what was inside. Workers were allowed back in the biddings about 11. 20 within the last few minutes they gave the allclear to go back into Harvard University buildings in a bomb threat. They were evacuated after University Police received a call saying bombs were planted there. A search did not close any explosives. The union represents nearly 15,000 workers throughout the system. The proposed contract includes wage increases from 11 to 13 over a fouryear period. Ac transit contract negotiations are expected to resume today. The talks come as the agency rolls out new routes and extended hours. The union says those changes violate the terms of a Court Ordered 60day cooling off period between the union and management. The union could go on strike once the cooling off period ends in a week. And in palo alto the city council is considering a plan to help preserve more Street Parking for residents. They would charge for permits. Most of the permits would go to residents but some employees would work for nearby businesses would also be able to get them. The council is set to discuss the Residential PermitParking Program at tonights meeting.
