Good afternoon, am tori campbell. A 10yearold girl is recovering after gunshots were fired into her hayward home, Claudine Wong is live there to tell us why police have a lot of questions about the shooting. Reporter good afternoon, still a very active seen out here in hayward. Take a look at the crime scene unit processing evidence. Police tell us this 10yearold girl is going to be okay. She was asleep in the front bedroom of this home around 2 00 this morning when shots were fired and there were multiple rounds the car had its windows shattered but here is the confusing part. Police tell us no one called 911 when this happened, not the neighbors and not the parents, in fact police didnt know it happened and the girl wasnt taken to the hospital until hours later and it is still unclear why no one called, police are interviewing the parents, the little girl is in the hospital. What we can tell you is there was six people inside the house tote. Two adults and 4 children from 8 months to 23 years old. The 10yearold in her bedroom in the front room of the house with her older sister asleep when the shots were fired, we edo one neighbor who said he heard at least a few of those shots. A couple of gunshots late at night. Dogs barking. What time was it . 2 00 alittle after 2 00. Did you call 911 . No why not normal around here. Treated the 10yearold child for her injuries, she was awake and able to walk on her own and able to get herself on to the gurney herself. So the neighbor says he heard shots around 2 00, police got the call at 7 34 so a lot of questions remain right now, why the delay, was this family targeted, police say they are cooperating and trying to get answers to those questions. The sergeant also said the crime makes him sick to his stomach and he has this message for whoever is responsible. We will do whatever we can to find you and what you did was cowardly and we will do everything to bring you to justice and put you in jail. So still early in this investigation, again if we can come back out here live you can see they are still processing trying to figure out just even how many bullets were fired as they continue to search for answer. Neighbors say this family had just moved to the neighborhood. Live here in hayward, Claudine Wong, ktvu channel two news. Thank you claudine. Some mysterious attacks on a south bay highway have drivers unnerved many reported their car windows were smashed while they were driving. Janine de la vega spoke to one of the victim whose took quick action. Reporter this picture was snapped last night, one of the several victims stopped after being lit by something during rush hour. There was this big pop and that got me to look at the window and it was shattered so i pulled over quickly, snapped a quick picture and called 911. The chp said 10 drivers had their cars smashed while driving there, the latest before 10 00 last night near the capitol expressway exit. They searched but did not find suspects. They suspect it is the work of someone shooting a bb or pellet gun although they found no evidence to back that up. I think the reaction initially was normal one of a little bit of anger and the usual string of expletives coming out of someones mouth. He spent the morning cleaning up. He didnt see anyone shooting but say all the people hit along with him were in the slow lane and had their passenger side window shattered one had an infant in the back seat. I am glad to see or hear nobody was hurt at the time. So that is good, i was concerned it might cause somebody to swerve and cause an accident. The chp agrees and it is taking the matter seriously and are investigating and asking anyone with information to call them.
