An oakland neighborhood is mourning the death of a well liked women who was gunned down in broad daylight. Ktvus Sal Castaneda joins us from oakland. You have been talking with neighbors who are fed up with what they say is a growing problem. Reporter thats right, pam, i want to show you this block here. This block does not have houses on it and it has a view so people say that neighbors people say that people have come here, parked their cars, they drink beer and smoke and hang out and that has become a problem say the neighbors. Today people have been coming to a memorial set up by neighbors of 66yearold judy solomon, one lady burned incense at the spot of the killing where people have left pictures, candles and newspaper clippings, many had groan used to her here walking her own pets here. She was always walking and you know it is something that you get used to seeing a person in a certain time and certain you know every day things. Police say the shooting happened as solomon, who lives nearby was driving her car up the hill before 1 30 yesterday. Witnesses say the car rolled down the hill after it was shot at and hitted a parked vehicle, solomon got out but died at the scene. We spoke with one neighbor what didnt want to go in camera, he told us partying in cars here has become a problem and has to clean up trash left behind. One woman who lives across the street says the neighborhood seemed quiet when she rentedded her amount. Now she is weighing her options. The places affordable, have of them are a war zone, you know the ones that in the nice areas where it is nice to raise your kid you know an area where i grew up, i cant afford to live in. You know, so you know i would love to stay in oakland where you know but not around here. Now that neighbor Lisa Maldonado told me she will look at other cities but some neighborhoods say they are organizing a Neighborhood Watch and looking into hiring private security for the area. He was arrested tuesday after police found files of child pornography on his home computer. Now investigators say a tip led them to him, who owns the business scott shot me photography. Officers say rashfeld is cooperating and admitted to downloading child porn, however, he claims he never took any child pornography pictures, rashfeld was also a parttime wrestling coach at napas justin sienna high school, officials there do not suspect their students to be involved in this case. Law enforcement is working with stanford unit now to investigate a cyber attack on the universitys Computer System. That breach prompted stanford to reach out to every 1 affiliated with the school. Reporter as you know it is a prestigious campus, in fact all morning long we harve seen tourists here poseing for pictures, so some analysts say whoever did this attack may have just wanted attention or to prove they could do it or it could be more malicious. We just dont know. Stanford treats Information Security with utmost seriousness and she is reading the email she received alerting every 1 who uses the schools Computer System it has been breached. University officials are urging students, faculty and staff and alumni to change passwords and working with Law Enforcement and id Security Consultants to determine the impact and find out who is behind it. They say there is no Evidence Health information or Social Security numbers were compromised but are still investigating. It is a little scary just to know the system has been hacked but again i am not too worried about because i am not certain how much information is out there. Stanford said this breach of information is similar to recent Cyber Attacks at Large Companies and organizations across the united states. Tech insiders say it is not surprising stanford was targeted because it is a high Profile School and conducts high level research. Security experts say it is always a possibility a student is responsible but an outside attack is possible so it is understandable they dont want to release too much information while they investigate. Investigators say 19yearold Ryan Mccusker indicated he was traveling to San Francisco to harm himself. Police say their investigation indicates mccusker is in San Francisco and may carry out those plans. He is described as 510, blue eyes, brown hair, a picture of him there, anyone with Information Contact police. New developments in the investigation into the practice of a nevada hospital sending mentally ill patients here to the bay area. The Sacramento Bee reports a commission has made a preliminary decision to revoke the accreditation of the hospital. The paper reports at least three dozen patients discharged by the hospital in the past five years have been sent to San Francisco on greyhound buses without any arrangements for housing or medical care. The hospital can appeal that decision. All is back to normal in San Mateo County at this hour, after nonemergency phone service was knocked out to most government offices. Now the office of Emergency Services says the problem started at 7 00 this morning at the county government center. A piece of electronic equipment failed along with the back up system that was supposed to kick in. That brought service to most 7 digit county government phone numbers to a halt. Technicians had all Service Restored by 9 30 this morning. 911 calls and Emergency Services were never affected. The deadline for a second bart strike is now only 10 days away as the labor talks go on. August 4th is the end date for a 30 day coolingoff period that put the bart strike on hold earlier this month. We have new video this noontime of a car that crashed into a salon this morning in campbell. It happened before 9 30 this morning at top cuts plus in the Shopping Center on winchester boulevard. Police tell as 92yearold woman was parked in front of the salon, when she got ready to leave she hit the gas instead of the brake and crashed into the entrance. Four to 5 people were inside at the time. Nobody hurt so that was good, a couple of minutes earlier maybe a couple of people might have gotten hurt. The salon is still open for business. But they are directed to a back entrance. The driver was allowed to drive home. The Oakland Council could take action against its own. They could take action against her, the violated rules because of that. There is no specific penalty attached to that action.
