Tonight ktvus Cristina Rendon is in berkeley where the crash happened. Reporter i just checked with police and they say the bicyclist is in critical condition. He is in his 60s. This intersection opened three hours ago and people have been very cautious driving through here however they say people say an accident between a bicycle and say a driver is something that was inevitable. Crash that happened in seconds turned this neighborhood into a crime scene for hours. Police say a bicyclist traveling southbound on spruce street collided with a car around 8 15 a. M. This morning. A steep road. We do a group ride every sunday and i tell people keep an eye out. Reporter police say the driver stopped to render aid and neighbors tried performing cpr before paramedics arrived. This is a tragedy. It is not unexpected. He says they see many bicyclist who blow through stop signs. Not all the cars stop. A lot of rolling stops. A lot of near misses with bicyclists and cars. It could be hard to see. Stop signs or if a car is coming. It is easy to miss. Reporter the area is a popular spot for bicyclist whose could only watch as investigators diagram the crash, taking photos of evidence. We are always interested in talking to witnesses. It is burning in El Dorado County, 60 miles east of sacramento. More on the fire fight. Reporter the fire continues to consume the landscape.
