The last significant rain was two weeks ago which means the ground was too dry to produce much runoff from todays rain and upcoming storms. The storms were expecting this weekend. I wouldnt bank on a lot of water ending up in these reservoirs. We hope it will. P its been very dry. The rain may not boost the reservoirs but it does help people trying to achieve the voluntary reduction in water use since most water use deals with landscaping. Some people we talk to have the same idea. And right now, i turned all the water off from the front and backyard. And hoping for a little bit of rain. At this point, the south bay reservoirs are 40 capacity and would be much lower if the district wasnt pumping in federal water right now and the race is on to see it reserve or rain can beat this drought. I am all an optimistic guy, so i am going to hope the best will come. And tonight, the Water District board will also be hearing about some state bond measures that could be put before voters. So cohen called the police and toll them she had his number. Surprisingly, it was the real number which misused to their advantage. And she gave us an opportunity to use an undercover capacity pose as that female employee set the suspect up to come and meet us. And police later arrested and searched his home and found a lot of stolen items inside. And hes also facing several charges including. As they have changed and added some new safety measures. Freemont police say they tried to pull over a driver when he hit and killed a motorcyclist on freemont boulevard. That 23yearold driver is now facing drunk driving charges. They first got a tip about the driver from a taco bell. Employees there called to say he was drunk and belligerent at the drive through. And officers saw the driver speeding before he allegedly hit the motorcyclist. . The suspect got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee. It was at the point when a suspect was trying to go over a fence that the initial responding officer was finally able to catch up to him. The suspect has been identified as alexander yawn of emoryville. Hes facing dui and resisting arrest charges. Police anticipate there will be more charges to come. The name of the motorcyclist killed in the crash has not been released. Oakland may still have a new law that makes streets safer for people who are walking and bicycling by punishing aggressive drivers. Counsel woman introduced an ordnance today that will make it a civil violations for drivers to harass pedestrians and bicyclists. A new report by her office, 184 pedestrians and bicyclist officers were killed and more than 9000 injured over the past 20 years. Its not clear how many were intentionally harmed by angry drivers. The intentional breaking in front of a bicyclist, throwing things out. Verbal hah lassment is not acceptable on oakland streets, and significant leaning gain endangers these vulnerable roadway users. Under her proposal, a victim could sue a driver for at least 1000 plus attorney fees. It goes before the Public Safety committee tonight and then on to the full city Council April 1s. It may not get any better. The nearby river is rising. And rain is expected to fall over the area for the next few days. That landslide covers about a square mile and is 15 feet deep in some places. Rescuers estimate it took out nearly 50 homes and was caused by ground water that had saturated the ground. The kupertinobased company has sent an email to itune users who made inApp Purchases. Those are purchases of extras available for installed apps and gains. State democrats won a round in the high speed rail funding battle. The Assembly Transportation committee voted against a bill today that would prevent the spending of federal funds on the 9. 9 billion project unless matching state funds are immediately available. The project has been using federal funds so far because state funds from a bond measure are tied up by legal challenges. The bills offer, president republican, jim patterson, described the project as a big vacuum cleaner. Two men have been arrested after a shooting that wounded eight people in San Francisco. We showed you this Surveillance Video of the shooting last night at 10 00. Cameras captured a frantic crowd of people diving for cover as bullets flew. Twentyfiveyearold Curtis Warren and 24yearold very well jones were arrested with help from another department. We went over and were able to locate him and take him into custody without incident and the driver of who we believe was the driver of the car that night. And both men are charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and conspiracy charges, all eight victims are expected to survive. Investigators say the shooting was sparked by an argument over a debt of less than 50 from a previous drug deal. And the intended target of the shooting wasnt injured. A federal Appeals Court is upheld. Two San Francisco gun laws after they were challenged by the nra. Their ruling by the ninth u. N. Circuit court of appeals says the city can require handgun owners to lock their guns up and store them with trigger locks. Of transporting crude oil by rail will be the topic of discussion at City Council Meetings in two bay area cities tonight. City heeders in richmond and berkely will talk about adopting resolutions opposing the transportation of crude oil by rail. The California EnergyCommission Says more than 6 millionbarrels of crude oil were delivered to california by rail cars last year. Lawmakers and others are concerned about the safety of transporting flammable and explosive crude oil. We dont have the ability now to respond quickly to deal with the emergency and especially if it were a fire emergency. One official with the department of fish and wildlife says there are more than 7000 points where trained crossed california waterways and says that that further raises concerns about the Environmental Impact of a crude oil accident in our state. And the Berkely City Council is set to meet at 7 00 p. M. The Richmond City council is also set to discuss the matter. That meeting is set for 6 30 tonight. There is one more california condor flying free on the Central Coast tonight after being released this morning. Wildlife officials decided to keep three other birds at the enclosure until a further date because of the wet weather out there. People have been killed in our neighborhood, she says, and you never know where the next shooting is going to happen. Investigators are checking Surveillance Video. Video of the two Armed Robbers was captured by a camera at the parking garage on la salle avenue. The two victims were walking toward the garage yesterday afternoon when they were held up. At least one of the men was armed. Police people around the area say the robbery in the middle of abysses city street is disturbing. Scattered shower here. Sunshine there. The afternoon after lunchtime is going to dry up around here for tomorrow. The rainfall accumulations well, you could see anywhere from half inch of rain to maybe three quarters of an inch in oakland. That would be impressive for this system. I suspect most areas will see a quarter inch to a half inch at best. The system will bring more rain. And mostly aabove 5500 feet. I think theyll probably see that. Maybe two and a half feet.
