Investigators are looking at Surveillance Video to figure out what went wrong and we know the names of the two workers who died. Chris shepped and Lawrence Daniels shepherd and lawrence bannials. Reporter we learned this train was going faster than estimated which was 50 but the ntsb investigators say it was between 6070 Miles Per Hour when the train struck the two people on the tracks. The investigator also said the operator at the time knew the people were there and southbounded an and sounded an air horn. They took all die interview the driver day to interview the people involved, on board were two trainers and a treney and three people to trainee and three people to trouble shoot. There were six employees on the train at the time of the accident. We have begun to examine the train equipment training equipment. Reporter we spoke to three train operators, on a normal work day they are notified about crews on the track ahead of time and every 15 minutes. We are trained as train operators. Operators. Teams swarmed a middle school in sparks, nevada this afternoon. Two students were hurt and a math teacher was killed and the student then turned the gun on himself. Why one victim is being called a sirens screamed as police and parents rushed to Sparks Middle School this morning as students were clvismates, a 7th grader come to school with a gun and started shooting. When i turned around i seen a kid with a gun and i ran. A child had a weapon and pulled that weapon out. Was asking for a teacher. And they wouldnt tell where the teacher was. Strike is forcing a lot of commuters over the bay bridge, many who are used to crossing underwater on a b. A. R. T. Train. The numbers we just received show an 11 increase in vehicles passing through the toll plaza and 64 increase in carpooling. And all of these vehicles used fast track. Ntsb officials updated us on their investigation into the death of two b. A. R. T. Workers hit by a b. A. R. T. Train saturday and they confirm the operator was training at the time. Lawrence daniels and Chris Shepherd were both killed saturday afternoon while inspecting tracks. Ktvus allie rasmus was at the press conference and spoke to the unions about their safety concerns. Reporter the ntsb investigator did confirm the train operator was going through a Training Exercise when the accident happened. One of the things the ntsb will focus on is whether everyone working that day had experience to do the jobs they were doing. B. A. R. T. Emergency. B. A. R. T. Emergency. B. A. R. T. Emergency. We just struck some individuals on the c1 tracks. The Contra Costa County Coroner Office identified the victims as Chris Shepherd and Lawrence Daniels. Lawrence daniels was working for b. A. R. T. As contractor. He lived in oakland but had a business in sacramento. Chris shepherd worked as a track engineer for two and a half years. Both men were inspecting the tracks when they were struck. They are controlling the speeds. They are making sure the trains arent close to each other. They are keeping a Safety Record of all the trains.
