The Bay Area Council of the regions largest employees are asking its members and business groups to be super flexible in the event of a bart strike with telecommuting, days off and other ways to keep employees off the roads. Reporter amy worth, mayor and chair of the Transportation Commission says that the economic damage from a strike will dwarf this summers 73 million a day hit. Police say the victim was shot in the leg at about 1 30 this afternoon while on a bus near fontaine street. The details are still sketchy and there are conflicting reports that the gunshot wound may have been selfinflicted. The victim was brought to a hospital. No word on his condition. Authorities say there were about 12 people on the bus at the time of the shooting and no one else was hurt. News chopper 2 shows us the charred remains of a lumber yard and Historic Buildings dating back to the 1800s. When crews arrived to towering flames, they discovered there were no fire hydrants nearby. It happened in the small town of coyote in santa clara county. Ann has the latest on what firefighters faced. Reporter firefighters say this could have been much worse. There was a limited supply of water and a seemingly unlimited amount of fuel for the fire. Neighbors in coyote recorded this cell phone video before the fire trucks arrived. You have to have 50, 60foot flames. Reporter crews had their work cut out for them. There are no fire hydrants there. There is a poor water supply system in this area. But we know that. Reporter so they brought in water tenders and got to work. On one side is the lumber yard. On the other, three Historic Buildings according to their owner fran seen. This was built in 1870. And the building down there is built in 1868. Reporter one had been a train depot, the other a feed company and the last a bunkhouse for railroad workers. Firefighters were able to save all by the bunkhouse. When i seen it an hour ago, it was there. And i thought they were able to save it. They said that only the roof had caught on fire but they took it completely down. Pg e has been ordered to keep this pipeline out of service until the safety is verified. The utilities investigation will see if there is any danger posed by the pipeline. City leaders cited internal e mails from a employee that was concerned that it was unsafe and could cause an explosion like the deadly san bruno blast three years ago. Petaluma police and fbi agents have been on the scene of a home where they discovered explosive devices. A man was possibly in possession of a firearm on quarry street. Investigators took him into custody. Incompetent side the home they found a total of four devices with explosives inside of them. They were similar to pipe bombs. Several homes in the were evacuated but the residents have now been able to return. Investigators say a childs parents brought the baby to San Francisco General Hospital at about 12 30 this morning and he was pronounced just a short time later. Investigators say the medical examiner could not confirm that the infant died of Natural Causes and contacted police. The parents car was towed from the hospital. Police are also investigating the familys home on monterey boulevard in the glenn park neighborhood. When a young child or infant passes away, it raises red flags. A man who lived at a souths bay Home Day Care center arrested, accused of sexually abusing children there. Police are urging parents to have what could be a difficult talk with their own children. The arrest came as a surprise to at least one parent who was dropping off his daughter at the Home Day Care center around lunchtime. We get more from carrie lu. Reporter we confirmed with the state this afternoon that the facility has a valid license but an investigation is underway. The man arrested is related to the owner who didnter search warrant the door for us. But there is a note out front saying no comment. Oh, my god. What is this. Reporter Juan Gonzales had no idea anything was amiss when he dropped off his daughter at the home. He has been happy with the facility for the last three years. Its really good. Its really good. She loves the kids. She loves all of the parents. Its really mine. But im in shock. Im in shock. Reporter investigators say jose who lived at the home was arrested last week after a parent came forward with allegations of inappropriate touching. And so the touching that was made was a sexual type of touching. Reporter neighbors tell us the 68yearold was friendly and they sometimes saw him walking with the children to the park. We obtained inspection reports from the last few years from the state. The most significant deficiency cited was about a dog that barked and jumped on people when they arrived. Police a 66yearold williams was arrested last friday after a parent said that williams had touched a student inappropriately. He was released after being cited on three counts of molesting or annoying a child under the age of 18. The district says that williams is on paid leave but cannot be placed on unpaid leave until he is arraigned. He will appear in court november 1st. San francisco has officially ended a practice that facilitates the deportation of undocumented immigrants arrested for crimes. The mayor signed the due process for all ordinance this afternoon. Last week the board of supervisors voted unanimously to prevent the police and sheriffs departments from detaining undocumented immigrants up to 48 hours past their release dates. That extra time helps immigration agents take custody of an individual for possible deportation. Its the fifth amendment of our constitution and here in San Francisco we uphold that and values should drive the policies. We have done that in this case clearly. The law will take effect in 30 days. An off Duty New York Police detective has been arrested in connection with this videotaped attack of an suv who had the a motorcyclist. He will face riot and criminal mischief charges. There is another video that contradicts his story that he didnt participate and drove away to avoid blowing his cover. Four bikershave now been charged in the case. A chemist has been ordered to stand trial on weapons and explosive charges. David snyder is accused of setting off an explosion back in january at his apartment complex. Los angeles is looking to San Francisco for help in toughening some of its earthquake standards when it comes to the soft story buildings. The bottom floors of those buildings are susceptible to collapse during an earthquake. Los angeles is considering legislation similar to that passed in San Francisco last spring.
