Bart trains are running and they will keep rolling at least for two more months after a judge granted governor jerry browns request for a 60 day cooling off period. It starts tonight at 10 00 p. M. If bart and the union dont reach a contract. A deal must be made or a strike could happen come october 10. Ktvus Christien Kafton joins us now in oakland outside negotiations that continue right now. Reporter yeah. Bart and Union Leaders said they should have had a deal by now. They will try to come together on a contract. Reporter todays order for a cooling off period came following a rare sunday Morning Court hearing in San Francisco, the first in decades. The judge granted the request to block a threatened bart strike. What i am hearing is that people are in agreement that i sign the injunction lasting 60 days through october 10, 2013. The attorney general argued the bart strike would devastated the bay area. [ inaudible ] reporter attorneys for bart and its unions were on hand and agreed to the cooling off period. He said a cooling off period stops the clock. [ inaudible ] reporter bart riders who followed the contract negotiations say they are relieved. Commuters wont be stressed and the workers have the opportunity work it out with management. Reporter law allows for one cooling off period. If there is not a deal in place in october they are pledging to strike. In a half hour what negotiators had to say as they came frin the meet in for the meetings. Mayor ed lee issued a statement saying i applaud governor jerry brown for taking the steps necessary so the bay area residents will not endure another bart strike. I urge the union and management leaders to reach an agreement that honors workers and puts bart on sustainability. More details now. Bart workers last went on strike over the 4th of july holiday. It lasted 41 2 days before they agreed to the 30 day extension. That strike effected 400,000 commuters who had to find alternatives. We are learning new information about a high speed crash on a san jose road that is not unfamiliar with speed. Two teens died in the accident. Ktvus ann rubin spoke to family of one of the victims, a family that is looking for answers. She joins us live from san jose. Reporter family and friends have been out here all afternoon dropping off flowers and candles and trying to understand how this could have happened. Reporter relatives came to the scene. He lost them in the crash. His family wants him to be buried wearing them. Young. Only 16 years old. The 19yearold driver died too. Three other emergencies were also injured. The family says they were driving 90 Miles Per Hour when they lost control. The car hit a tree. A neighbor rushed to help. He is still too shaken. I was trying i couldnt pull them out. The car was so smugsed together there was no way of getting them out. Reporter many heard the crash. He wasnt surprised, he said people speed here too often. My worse fears were answered. Reporter the family cant believe he is gone. Spencer really hard. My sister is taking it really bad. All the family was at my sisters house this morning trying to be there for her. Reporter friends of the victims are planning a car wash fundraiser to help the victims still in the hospital. Live in san jose, ann rubin, ktvu channel 2 news. Crime rose around the bay last year with the exception of one county. Marin county was the only bay area county to see a drop in 2012. 490 incidents compared to 541 the year before. Property crimes rose 9 from 2011 to 2012. Those crimes include burglary, theft, auto theft and arson. And the murder trial of joseph naso accused of killing four women could go to the jury this week. The 79yearold defendant is representing himself and rested friday. The victims, including two women from the bay area were killed. Prosecutors scheduled to give closing arguments on wednesday and joseph naso on friday. He could face had Death Penalty if convicted. The coroner is expected to release the identity of the female body found last week in the search of sandra coke. Sandra coke was last seen with a former boyfriend. He is a registered sex offender. Sandra coke is a federal investigator and a mother. We are learning more about the kidnapped teen from Southern California whose disappearance triggered a amber alert. New details on the search for Hannah Anderson from the people who spotted her last week in the idaho wilderness. Reporter welcome home Hannah Anderson. Hannah andersons rescue close as terrifying chapter that includes the deaths of her mother and brother. They were very close. She helped him with his home work and read it him all the time. You know, she was the best big sister ever. Reporter after a week, James Lee Dimaggio the man who kidnapped her and killed her family is dead. A tip led the search to idaho wilderness. News flashed on. And the amber alert was on the television and i told my wife, i said that is that girl we have seen. Reporter he reported having a conversation with James Lee Dimaggio and Hannah Anderson while horse back riding with his wife and friends. He knew something wasnt right. They were just like a square peg going into a round hole. He might have been a outdoorsman in california but not in idaho. He didnt fit. Reporter teams had to hike for 2 hours across rugged terrain to reach them saturday afternoon. After a confrontation Law Enforcement says fbi shot and killed James Lee Dimaggio. Hannah anderson was taken to the hospital for evaluation. He crets what hes say credits what he saw on television for saving her life. A 92 aNational Amber alert was issued a new National Amber alerts was issued today. The child was reported missing this morning. The newspaper reports two people have been arrested in connection with the deaths but police havent released the ideas of the victims in the home and no word on the identity of the kidnapper. Two customs agents were sickened today from a package. It turned out to be phosphoric acid. A Law Enforcement officer said the product appeared to be a cleaning agent that broke in transit. Theagys were take the agents were taken to a hospital for the treatment. The third and final day of the outside lands Music Festival is underway right now in golden gate park. Two dozen acts are slated to perform today. The crowds from the outside lands Music Festival proved to be too much for one restaurant nearby the vent. They posted this message on facebook last night, saying, the crowd from the concert is too wild and we decided to close tomorrow to protect the restaurant and the quality of the dining experience. We stopped by and found some people who were hoping to get brunch this morning. We were in the neighborhood. We were just surprised it was closed. The restaurant said the crowd was so rowdy and drunk last night somebody vandalized their bath room. The u. S. I think it was somebody who knew what they were doing. We have to question was it someone who saw us in San Francisco with all of our gear as we were packing and followed us . A total stranger donated this vehicle for them to make a performance last night, a performance they did with borrowed instruments. That is where fire crews are making progress tonight on the destructive silver fire in riverside county. Officials say that wildfire is 90 containedtained and full containment is expected by tomorrow. It destroyed 2 dozen homes. 10 firefighters were hurt fighting the fire. There is a major difference between the two of us. We have to find a way to get rid of that. What we hope for is an agreement in the 60 day period. We would like to come together and have an agreement by theond of the day by the end of the day. Two more months of negotiating to prevent a strike. There are still differences to over come, pay raises, benefits and pension contributions. Law only allows for one cooling off period.
