Across the state. There is one down in Santa Barbara county this morning that has already tried over 5000 acres. We are also watching one in Contra Costa County this morning. We have been talking about the rodeo fire. We will talk more about that. It is definitely a cooler morning today. I was relieved when it felt cool today as i walked out of my house. Its nice to see the fog back this morning. Was at 70 degrees yesterday when we got up . Yesterday was another round of triple digits but today we bring the cooling relief you may be waiting for. Good morning to you. Yesterday via temperatures above 100 degrees. Here we are with a fog deck out there. We will still have mid 90s inland but the marine layer will cool us off. For example you can see the triple digits toward livermore and concord. Coming down to 96 degrees today. You will notice a change compared to saturday. Heres a satellite where we have the low clouds. Hanging out of the coastline and still some patches heading back to the bay. It is overcast over San Francisco. We will check in with current members. Santa rosa is were reporting low visibility. Livermore is 60 degrees. Half moon bay is 52. Another camera looking toward the bay bridge out there basically covering the towers looking out toward the city from the east bay. Here is the plan for today for sunday. Some patchy fog, or skies inland. Partly sunny this afternoon. 60s to 90s. We are scaling back from the heat from yesterday. No heat advisories a red flag warnings. Improved conditions if youre not a fan of the heat. We will have more on the forecast coming up. We start this morning with continuing coverage of the big construction site fire that started in oakland on friday. Crews are still dumping water at the scene this morning. Theres potential good news for people that were forced out of their home. Some of them can start heading home as early as today. Kristi captain joins us live from the scene of the fire. Reporter good morning take a look you can see one of the Major Concerns here down and out of the way. To give you a sense of where we are we are at 24th and told us. You can see that the huge crane that was swung wildly during the fire has been brought down to successfully and is now out of harms way. [ cheering and applause ] crews lower the crane yesterday after it swung freely during the fire. A lot of the scaffolding that had been standing around the fire was removed making it much safer than it was 24 hours ago. State officials said the building inspectors will be out early looking at homes and apartment buildings and trying to determine how many of the 700 to 900 resident who were displaced by this fire will be allowed to go back home. Residence we spoke with are worried about what they will find when we returned home after it is not livable was aware that it is smiling right now. I think every item and limiting linen will have to be scrubbed and the mattress probably thrown away. Reporter we are expecting a lot more work here at the site. Now that the crane is down and the sky scaffolding has been removed we are waiting for arson investigators to get into the scene. We were here yesterday when one atf agent appeared at the scene. We saw her begin the investigation as to how the fire started. We are expecting a team in from washington dc as early as tomorrow. Keep in mind fire inspectors from the atf and oakland and the county i want to get inside the building to determine where the fire started and perhaps that will give them an idea on how the fire started. One of the things they are still looking for is any help from the public. Anybody who has video or was here at the time of the fire authorities want to hear from you so they can get an idea on how the fire started. Keep in mind this is just the latest in a series of mysterious fires that have struck apartment buildings that were under construction so we have more questions than answers at this point. That resident raised a good point with the smell of the fire. A lot of the time when you go into a scene it is the smell of the smoke. Is there a strong smell of fire out there. To you get the sense will be a big robin for the neighboring residents . This morning there is not a strong smell but one of the things that has been an issue of course is the set and debris that the fire rained down in the neighborhood. We can turn maybe we could see some of it on the road. Theres some also a little bit further to the right as well. That is the kind of thing that is all over the neighborhood. Just ash and soot all over the area. A lot of cleanup the cars and vehicles. If any other got into your home that could be a problem as well. You heard the resident talking about wanting to get all of the soft items wanted. I was out here friday morning. There was not a great deal of smoke and rosemary did a great idea explaining what was going on weatherwise. There was an inversion layer so a lot of the smoke was going straight up instead of being blown out it was going up and that it would loss them out and then there would be debris raining down the neighborhood. I know when you cover a fire and he go to the scene a lot of sense to get home and you see one of these and you can smell it for days. I can only imagine what some of those apartments i like. According to the contra costa district it was reported at 2 30 yesterday. Officials are still trying to determine what caused it. Three fires burning near brentwood have been at 100 containment. But dear complex fire burned a total of 250 acres. Firefighters had a control under control by last night. The fire did not get to any of those homes and thankfully nobody was hurt. A woman said she was sexually battered on the uc berkeley campus. The incident reportedly happened just before friday night at the dwinelle parking lot on campus there. The victim says the man approached her and grabbed her under her shorts. When she screamed the suspect allegedly ran. She described him as hispanic in his 20s with a thin build and shoulderlength hair. A strong arm a strong arm robbery was also reported on campus as well that happened around 9 50 p. M. A group of suspicious people followed him when he got off the train at the Downtown Berkeley station. The suspects allegedly pushed the victim to the ground near the gateway and took some of his things. Police say the victim suffered minor injuries and they have not found any of the suspects there. No description of the suspects were given. A ceasefire in syria begins this morning. It is still in effect right now. The Syrian Civil War is in its seventh year with more than 400,000 lives lost. The truce does not include any possible fighting against isis. And President Trump wrapped up his trip in hamburg germany and is back at the white house today. Brian yunus has details on the trip to europe, security forces, and talking trade. Santa fe is 60 santa rosa is 49 and San Francisco 51. You have heard about the fires that have developed across portions of the state. You can see down to the south the alamo fire is 19,000 acres. All of these are added a lot of smoke into the air and you may notice some haze out there in the south bay. Air quality could be impacted with all of these fires. Coast side the readings will be mainly in the lower 60s. It will be warming up but not as extreme as yesterday. Salsa 90s inland as you work a closer to mount diablo. The highest locations will approach the mid 90s. 95 to 96 by about 3 00 today. This area of High Pressure is in charge of our weather and it begins to lose its grip. Still some 90s today but we begin to cool down. We will continue to cool things off into monday and tuesday. Also a bit of a breeze out there as well. It looks like another warming trend showing up later in the week by friday and the upcoming weekend looking way ahead next weekend could be another hot one here in the bay area. Lets go to hawaii where wildlife xs have close to part of the beach in southern waikiki to protect and in endangered hawaiian monk seal. The seal gave birth to a pup last thursday. Officials ripped off an area of the beach that is far enough away so rocky does not feel threatened. And eight mile stretch of ocean is also blocked off from swimmers. The area will be protected until the seal family decides it is time to swim off into the ocean and go enjoy their lives. I hope they are enjoying their little time alone. We have a bit of haze out there as well. This afternoon instead of triple digits we are thinking some 90s out there. 94 to 96 degrees. This was the deal yesterday out toward concord. 104 degrees. San jose from 97 yesterday 286 today. Everybody lean off. The coast and beaches never really warmed up too much with the fog out there kind of making a big comeback yesterday afternoon. Already a big a few patches. Today. Santa rosa is 49 60s out toward livermore and walnut creek. We have patchy fog and clear skies coming later today. We have a big temperature range because it is the bay area summertime. The readings will be 96 out toward livermore. 67 for San Francisco. Napa is in the upper 80s. Probably somewhere haze out there as well. There is some smoke drifting closer to the bay area. That will be affected not only for today but also monday and tuesday. Well talk more about your five the forecast in a few minutes. We continue now with the coverage of the fire in oakland. Theyre trying to make it safe for investigators to going. Kristin captain Christien Kafton is live at the scene in oakland. I know you are out there friday when it all started. Reporter we heard a pickup out here. We will make her way around the other side of the fire scene to see what is going on here. We are at 24th and valdes. We could see the concerns already taken out of the equation here. The huge crane was circling above the fire. It has now been successfully brought down and out of harms way. [ cheering and applause ] crews lower the crane yesterday. City officials said that building inspectors were out today looking at homes and apartment buildings trying to determine how many of the 700 to 900 people who were evacuated will be allowed back home. We plan to have building inspectors out first thing in the morning as quickly as we can get them moving through the area we will get people home as soon as we are able to. Reporter residents who want to get back in and assess the damage have concerns about smoke damage. The center of this fire possibly her permeating homes. The crane at scaffolding is removed and we are expecting arson investigators with at least from federal agent when the atf was out here. Keep in mind the scene is safer with the scaffolding and now investigators from the Arson Task Force and atf it is a major concern for everybody who has been around there. It looks like it is sandwiched in that neighborhood tight. It is amazing that a lot of other buildings did not go up as well. Reporter very minor damage when you consider just how hot the fire burned. Lets show you that you can see this older would structure and i was talking with one of the Police Officers out here earlier and i said i was amazed that this would building did not go up considering the heat of the fire. We were out riding morning and we were both about a block away and you could feel the heat coming off. You can just imagine how much heat was on this older wooden building here. It is Pretty Amazing that did not go up. Its a testament to the hard work that they put in trying to keep the fire isolated to just this one building that was under construction. Christien kafton life for us in oakland. A pittsburgh woman is in custody after admitted to killing her parents. Officers were called to the home where she lived with her parents. She told them her parents were dead inside the house. Police found the bodies of a 67 yearold woman and 73yearold man and it appeared they had been stabbed several times a few days earlier. Police say it looked like she tried to clean up the crime scene before she called police. It is 7 37. More than 1000 demonstrators flooded a ku klux klan rally. There they are walking and being escorted by police in riot gear. Counter protesters and jeered. Officers had to use tear gas to help disperse the crowd. 23 people were eventually arrested. Bigger fires burning in San Luis Obispo county that has burned nearly 24,000 acres of land only 10 contained. Many homes have been threat and threatened but officials dont have any reports of any structures burning. This fire in Santa Barbara county has black and 5400 acres. Note the no homes are threatened but it friend two summer camps near a big lake. Crews are still looking for the cause of both fires. There is another wildfire burning in butte county about 70 miles north of sacramento. It started on friday and we spoke to cal fire and they said it has burned 4400 acres and has grown. Flames are just 17 contained. It has also injured for people destroyed 10 homes. Crews are having a tough time fighting the fire because of the hot weather. The dry air and rugged terrain have also caused difficulty. People are watching the flames get closer and closer to the homes and admit they are frustrated with the the fire has been handled. The letter get out of control and then they try to put it out. They should put it out before it gets out of control. They are doing their best to put out the flames the cause is still under investigation. Thousands of people are without power in Southern California after a fire broke out at our facility around 7 00 yesterday. Firefighters responded to an explosion. You seal the fire below a department of water and power facility in northridge. It happened in an area with highvoltage Electrical Equipment. You can see people were left without any power. No injuries have been reported at this time. The time now it is 7 47. With all the fires burning across the state we have spoken to people and they said theres a fire season but when you have the hot weather and all the fires popping up somebody tweeted me like here we go again. Now with the drying up rapidly it seems like the hills dried out within a few days. Fire danger will be an issue and will be a concern as it continues to head toward its peak in october. Structures have been damaged. No word on cause. There are three fires that have burned near brentwood. They are now 100 contained. The deer complex fire burned a total of 130 acres. At one point 50 homes had to be evacuated but the fire did not damage any of the homes and nobody was hurt. A woman said she was sexually battered on the campus in berkeley. It happened just before 1 00 on friday night in the parking lot. The woman said the man approached and crunched her and grabbed her. They were going to determine how many of the residents who were displaced the fire will be allowed to go back home. At last count there were some very distant 700 and 900 displaced residents. They are hoping to be allowed back in their homes are still worried about the possibility of damage. Still no word at this point on a timeline of when those residents are going to be going back in. Although authorities have not called this fire officially suspicious at this point it with certainly be prudent of them to try to preserve the scene as much as possible.
