Two offer officers shot. The gunman first ambushed a Police Sergeant sitting in her squad car. She was shot eight times, but most of the bull lets hit her protective vests. The gunman grabbed a woman, using her as a shield and she was shot in the leg. Officers finally tracked the gunman to an alley where they shot and killed him. A college Police Officer was shot in the shoot out. A letter was left behind suggesting motivation. That letter is a bunch of rambling expressing his hate red for the Police Officerses. The woman shot in the car died from her injuries. The man is in Critical Condition. The philadelphia Police Officerses will patrol in pairs in the meantime. Two Police Officers shot in fort worth, texas respond tog a suicide call. They were told a witness had gone to the backyard. As the officers approached, a person inside a shed open fired. One officer was hit in the upper body, while the other officer was hit in the protective vest. The officers were able to shoot back. A person was found later inside the shed. Its not clear if the person died from a selfinflicted wound or not. A shooting at the Bella Vista Apartments happened loos night. Theres not a lot of details on the investigation right now, but as you can see, several shell casings are marked on the ground. We put in a call to find out if there were any injuries, we are waiting to hear back. The Police Officers in berkley are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital. The shooting happened on austin way. The police say they found the victim. Theres not clear what may have led up to the shooting. No arrests at this pointed. And the teenager who said she said sexually exploited by a group of Police Officerses has filed a suit. Its the first step to a potential lawsuit and they are seeking 66 million. They accuse some oakland Police Officers of sex trafficking and the city allowing it to happen. These city Police Officers are hypocrites. They are more scandalous than the priests around the world. These Police Officers knew they were breaking the law and they didnt break it up. Her attorneys are planning to file suit in all of the places where sex was had while she was a minor. In the meantime, criminal charges are expected against dan black, charged with two counts of engaging in prostitution and other charges and Leroy Johnson is charged with failing to report suspected child abuse after abuslin told him she had sex with the officers while she was a minor. Talk about the efforts going on in oakland. Well, this is the 21st annual clean up which is statewide. This is our biggest year yet. We have 46 projects happening throughout oakland where volunteers are coming out to clean and green around beautify the and beautify the city. These events range from litter pick up to habitat restoration. And when you say volunteers, you have hundreds of them. They picked up 18 Million Pounds of trash so you are putting a big dent in this problem, arent you . Yeah, this is a huge day. In oakland, we have over 1000 volunteers that show up. This is the biggest clean up day that we have had in 21 years. Last year in oakland, volunteers picked up 15,000 pounds of trash and cleaned up the parks and neighborhoods and a lot of people dont realize the trash they put in the trash can end up in the bay. What are the items you typically see . Is there one thing more than others . Typically, theres a lot of plastic that ends up in the water, unfortunately. Theres a lot of cigarette butts. Theres all kinds of things. Basically, anything thats not intercepted. Anything thats not put properly in the trash will make its way into the streets and, from there, it makes its way into the storm drain and a lot of people dont realize the storm drains connect directly to the streets and they connect right here in San Francisco bay and the bay, of course, meets the ocean and the ocean theres a huge problem with marine trash. Trash from land that gets out there. There are places called jieers where the trash collects and forms big sizes of trash, bigger than the state oftexas and that causes a problem for the marine life. Sunday, warmer than today and theres that, you can almost tell the High Pressure is in because look at how the fog kind of bleeds in over the gate, and cant get over because it fills in. Its like if you pour water into the Golden Gate Bridge and it pours down. With that in mind, several areas are starting off sunny. Its going to be a hot day in the inland valleys. Not sunny in san mateo or redwood city, but give it an hour or two. San jose, you are starting to see the breaks in the clouds out in the hills by the peaks, you are starting to see some breaks. San francisco is 58 degrees. Its foggy in San Francisco right now. With the fog, you are going to see temperatures pretty much staying cool all morning, but warming up by this afternoon. We are learning more about a freak accident that killed an 88yearold man. He was driving along the area when a large metal piece hit him which caused him to crash into the divide. Another driver tried to help him, but the man died before help arrived. It r they are saying it looks like plumbing material. He probably never saw it coming. Probably not, not at that speed. The chp is asking any witnesses to come forward. They especially want to talk with any drivers who may have noticed an unsecure road near the willow road exit. Anytime tow, 8 34. A shooting happened yesterday morning on 2nd street and bissell avenue. The baby taken to the hospital could be released today. Meanwhile, a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound arrived a short time later. Police believe he was the intended target. He is expected to be okay. Many gathered to pray for a woman brutally beaten in her home. Family members, friends and concerned citizens gathered to pray for that woman known as miss flo. Her nephew shared news about her recovery. We were so elated with the break through that she was able to recognize the family members. She had both eyes open which had not been the case. The sheriffs detectives are going through the neighborhood to investigate the attack. The residents suspect they are look for a second sus suspect in the event. Around 6 30 last night, someone reported a man on a train with a gun. Police say nearly 200 passengers and crew members all evacuated as the man barricaded him inside the train. Police surrounded the train for hours, shut down the tracks in boast directions. Tear gas was used to end the event the man surrenders. Eugene craig was shot and killed by a deputy at his home on tight toc avenue. The police say they were called for a welfare check after getting a call from a concerned relative. The police say they knocked northwesterly sims and a several times and announced themselves. When they went inside, shots were fired. The wife says that craig got his gun because they thought someone was trying to break in. Two people on the peninsula safe this morning after making an Emergency Landing in a small plane yesterday. The police say the red and white plane landed north of the palo alto airport around 3 00 p. M. A chp chopper landed to help with the rescue. We love our environment here in oakland, we are so blessed with 20 miles of shoreline and we are really blessed to have dedicated volunteers that come out on this day and earth day. Oakland loves its planet and its neighborhood. Okay, mayor, lets talk about some of the politics. The woman at the center of the sex scandal was brought back from florida. Two of the Police Officerses were brought back, one from oakland and she quickly sued the city yesterday. Just your reaction from that. Young, this has been such a difficult case. Its tragic for the victim. Its trafficic for the good men and women of the Oakland Police department that have had their reputations changed by the conduct of a couple of Police Officers and its tough for the city of oakland when we have been working to build the trust with the police. We are very glad that jasmine is back in oakland where she can assist with the prosecution of the criminal charges, but most importantly where she can get help. And mayor, were you surprised by the lawsuit that came out yesterday . No, this is america. I am never surprised when American People use their right of the justice system. Thats a part of the process and thats a part of this very tragic story that has happened here in oakland. And mayor, how is that effecting your ability to get a good candidate for police chief and are you making progress . Its been a while now. Yes, we are making progress. We have had some fantastic forrums. I want everyone to go on oaklandnet. Com. We are very encouraged by the group of talent that has applied for our sister city. It bodes well for oakland. Police chiefs are up for challenge. They also see the tremendous progress thats happened in oakland and the great assets here waiting for a chief and waiting to bring to life. And mayor, do you have an idea of when you might get someone . Is there a time limit . Well, this is, um, well, the right guy or gal, this is definitely a process that cant be rushed, but we are on our time line that we originally announced. We are having two more community forrums this thursday and that will also mark when we formally launch if search process, we will have a 45 day window for applications that allows us to go through a very rigorous process in the month of november and december and we expect to be making decisions in the early part of next year. Very good and i think its great that you are bringing in parts of the community as well. Moving to football, money was voted on to build a stadium for the raiders and is that a motivator to get the ball rolling a little bit more in the area . Listen, we have been working very hard behind the scenes on moving towards a responsible stadium for the raiders here in oakland and i tell you, i am not giving up, and i am also not rolling over. That amount of public money might be appropriate in another place, but not in oakland. I am still staying laser focused on my goal to deliver a stadium for the raiders that is good for the fans, but also responsibly for the taxpayers and generates more activity in oakland around that coliseum site. We are still making tremendous progress on that and we are still very confident that at the end of the day, the raiders are going to stay at their home. I am going to be at the game. Time now, 9 05. Developing news on attacks of Police Officerses. Two officers wounded with a confrontation with a gunman. A Police Sergeant experienced the gunman while sitting in her patrol car. Most of the bullets hit her protective vest. The gunman grabbed a woman and used her as a shield before hitting her in a leg. The gunman then hit a woman and a man in the chest. The Police Officerses shot the gunman, killing him. The possible motivation from the letter may have been this rambling that he was trying to target Police Officerses. Both the sergeant and the college Police Officer are up and talking this morning. They are both expected to make a full recovery, but the woman in the car has died from her injuries. The man in Critical Condition this morning. The others expected to be okay. Meanwhile, two Police Officers in fort worth, texas also shot. They were responded to a suicide call. They were told a witness had gone to the backyard and as the u officers approached, a person inside a shed open fired. One was hit in the shoulder while the other was protected by a bullet proof vest. The person later found dead inside the shed. Not known this morning if the person died from shots from the officer or from a self inflicted gunshot. Both of the officers are expected to survive 6789. In hayward, a man was shot and killed last night in front of an apartment complex. Now right now, its not clear what led up to the shooting. The police are asking anyone with information to give them a call. Another shuting happened shooting happened last night at 11 00. The police have not released a lot of details in this case. We are still waiting to hear back. And there was also a shooting in berkley last night that happened around 10 00 on ninth street and austin way. That person was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. No arrests have been made in any of the shootings. A teenager said she was sexually exploited by Police Officers in the area. Attorneys for Jasmine Abuslin have filed a lawsuit on her behalf against the city of oakland. They are seeking 66 million. They accused some of the oakland Police Officers of sex trafficking and the city allowing it to happen. These criminal Police Officers are hypocrites they are more scandalous than the priests than molested boys all over the world because these officer knew better. They knew they were breaking the law, then they tried to cover it up. Her attorneys are planning to File Lawsuits in all of the areas where she had sex where she was a minor. Meantime, Alameda County district is filing charges against two Police Officerses, dan black charged with two counts of engaging in prostitution and lewd acts and one count of giving alcohol to a minor and Leroy Johnson calling to report the activities. Studies show that having a dog can lower your heart rate. It can help with anxiety issues. Dogs can you detect cancer in people before modern science can detect it. We want to show the dog that you may have or somebodys cat, showing them the unconditional love. We have two sides. As food nourishes our body, the pet nur rushes our lives. Thats to go and see the special relationship out there with people and their pets. And this is somebody that we all need to listen to, we never know when there might be a life saving moment. Can you talk about that . I was finishing my last year in college. I was a passenger in a car accident. I have a spinal cord injury which is lifelong at this point. I had to use a wheelchair and adjust to my daily life.
