The woman was sitting on a park bench yesterday watching her Children Play at Washington Square in north beach. And arborist was immediately sent to investigate. The Parks Department said it appears the Canary Island pine tree is healthy and was last evaluated back in 2010. Park visitors expressed surprise at what happened. I feel like that is a freak accident. You would not expect to go to a park and have a casual friday afternoon. Record show a crew print and cut the lower limbs of the tree in the park four years ago. In 2014 a private company was common to do work on those Canary Island trees in the playground area including the tree that had the limb fall. The woman was last reported in Critical Condition at the hospital. She is with her family. Centerville police are asking for the publics help to find men who burglarized a womans home and injured her as they were making their escape. The car parked in the driveway was traced to an address in san leandro. That is where Police Arrested a 20yearold woman who is suspected of being the getaway driver. The Alameda County Sheriff Department is looking for help as they search for whoever shot a woman in the head with a bb gun. They are looking for a black 2013 jeep turkey with chrome wheels. The shooting happened at 8 00 thursday night near East Fourteenth Street and 159th avenue. A woman said the suv drove through the intersection and someone shot her with a bb gun. She was not seriously injured. Investigators say as many as five people were in the suv. They believed the shooter may have been young as 13 years old. They say the driver was possibly an africanamerican woman. Police are crediting a Good Samaritan for helping them arrest an assault suspect. Were told that a woman was being attacked in her apartment when a neighbor heard her scream and called 911. She was saying, top. Help me. It off me. When a woman screams for help around 4 am, that caught the attention of neighbors. Someone who heard the screams ault police. When officers arrived on scene they heard a woman that was also a need. The suspect allegedly took off a with his green and entered the womans ground floor apartment on seventh street at the Lockwood Gardens Housing Project. The men physically assaulted the woman and attempted to sexually assault her. When officers arrived the suspect broke a bedroom window and jumped out but did not get far. Smack it appears he knew that officers were surrounding the residents and he wanted to make a quick exit. Thats when i saw the guy try to run out of her house. The police came from here and here and bum rushed him right there. Reporter neighbors say the victim is in her 40s, lives a home and keeps to herself. I listened to her church visa. This has been a long time coming. I was looking at a study that said by the time kids get into high school, they have been introduced to this 50 of kids have had some sort of sexual harassment. This is a long time coming. Yes. Unfortunately a lot of students are introduced to these topics through their peers and unwanted interactions. We are excited that california is taking a step to be able to make it part of the school curriculum. So it is taught in a self environment where students are given a lot of positive direction and encouragement as they make their individual choices. As we talk about this and College Campuses and leaving them up to knowing what is appropriate or inappropriate or how to report, anytime you talk about education that involves this kind of topic, its, how do you do it . Where parents feel like this is appropriate for their children. Were talking about higher age groups, seventhgrade through 12th grade, how do you do it and is it an education for the families as well . The parents and the communication between the kids and parents . Absolutely. One of the things that has been exciting about the work my commission has been doing is really establishing that you need to know your local environment. Its really this concept called, local control. Parents and community and teachers and students are partners in this education curriculum is not handed out with a script mentality where every student will necessarily receive the same messages with the exact same format. They will receive instruction on those similar topics. It allows parents to be able to work with their teacher to have a voice and raise concerns and also helps teachers be able to introduce these topics with Building Student relationships. Its a mindset that comes early in life, the socialization not only at home but in school. You not only going to teach some of these kids but somewhat, deprogramming some of the kids who may have already developed bad habits i guess you could say. Absolutely. And one of the exciting things that the instruction for Quality Commission is working on in the upcoming two years is they curriculum framework that will guide even deeper what that process can look like in schools based on current research. This document will allow for lots of input and trinity involvement. So everyone can come and have a voice to shape even deeper what this will look like it will also be recommendations to textbook publishers like you said, it is important that we are understanding that we live in a fluid culture where students, education looks different than it did even five or 10 years ago. The councilman said these are acts of a deranged person and if they are protesting against someone or some policy, there are better ways to voice their objections. And yolo county comedy cult fire is contained completely. That started august 2, destroying two structures and destroying 57 acres. That is on the southeast flank of lake berryessa. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Licking county homeowners blamed for last years devastating valley fire said hes being denied permission to inspect the evidence. Cal fires 11 month investigation concluded that a faulty wiring to a hot tub sparked that blaze that killed four and caused 57 million in damages. Owners of the hot tub to say cal fire will not allow them to examine the evidence theres evidence such as items seized at their home. They claim an eyewitness on the scene spotted an unknown vehicle on the property just before the fire broke out. No charges have been filed. Yesterday a group of people held a rally in support of iris canada. Last week a judge ruled she had to leave a unit she moved into more than 40 years ago. Five other units in the building were renovated and sold as tenants in common canada was 86 years old at the time the conversion started she was not a victory but gave a life estate which meant she owned the unit and could pay 700 a month until her death. A strike by Court Employees in Santa Clara County finally coming to an end the Union Representing court clerks and janitors reached an agreement with the county yesterday afternoon. Toyota recalled these vehicles in 2012 because of a wobbly rear suspension. In 2013 it was discovered the nothing used to adjust the real real alignment were not tightened properly. The newest problem involves rust forming in that suspension in connection to the Wheel Alignment issues. The suspension arm could separate from the vehicle and cause the driver to lose control. The citys recreation and Parks Department said it appears the Canary Island pine tree is healthy. It was evaluated back in 2010. The tree limb was 50 pounds. It snapped off and fell 50 feet and hit the woman in the head. She sustained an injury. She was in and out of consciousness upon our arrival. Police officers and the firefighters paramedics responded quickly. The recreation and Parks Department said the drought does not appear to be a factor in the following branch. Records show a crew pruned and cut the lower limbs of that tree in the park four years ago. In 2014 a private company did similar work on the Canary Island trees in the playground area. That does include the tree in this accident. Police in oakland are crediting a Good Samaritan for helping take down an assault suspect. A woman was being attacked in her apartment yesterday morning when a neighbor heard her screaming and called 911. The suspect allegedly took off a window screen to enter the womans apartment in the Lockwood Gardens Housing Project man attempted to sexually assault the victim but officers arrived in time and caught the suspect as he was trying to escape. Thats when i saw the guy trying to run out of her house. The police it came from here and here. They rushed him right there in the grass. Ktvu tracked down the Good Samaritan who called police. She did not want to appear on camera but told us she did what she thought anyone else would have done to help a person in need. Centerville police are asking for help to find men who burglarized a womans home and injured her as they were making an escape. This happened on their drive to lincoln avenue. The woman came home from the store and saw a car she did not recognize in her driveway. Police say when she got to the front door, she was not down by two men running out. Surveillance video captured images of the men. They were both wearing hooded sweatshirts and jeans. One man is tall and in his 20s. The other is shorter. He talked to schoeller down and knocked her to the ground causing her groceries to go all over the place. It seems like an assault and in my opinion it looked like a football tackle. The woman was not seriously hurt least think the men broke into her home through a kitchen window. That these got away with electronics and jewelry but police have made an arrest. The car parked in the driveway was traced to an address in san leandro. That is where Police Arrested a woman who is suspected of being the getaway driver. A menlo park woman is blaming airbnb for major damage to her home. She tells the daily news that she rented a room to a sex worker. The activities went on for about a month until the renter flooded the bathroom. Other housemates notified her last week. When she checked the room she said she found heavy damage along with sexrelated items. She tells the paper she is angry with airbnb for her response to the questions about the guests. Alameda county Sheriff Department is looking for help to find who shot a woman in the head with a bb gun. They are searching for a black 2013 Jeep Cherokee. There is speculation that a spat of vandalism may be politically motivated. Twice in less than a month, someone hacked two dozen trees along meridian avenue and dry creek road in the willow glen neighborhood. The vandalism comes couple months after art boxes were destroyed in the district as well. A councilman for the area said there are acts of deranged people and if they are protesting against someone or a policy, they there are better ways to voice their objections. The councilman is promising to install cameras to prevent further attacks. We received an update on the Massive Wildfire near weeks or. Cal fire announced that the soberanes fire has burned 71,860 acres. This is 60 contained this morning. There are 4500 firefighters there. The blaze has destroyed 68 buildings, including 57 homes. An area along highway 1 is under an evacuation order. And yolo county, that fire is 100 contained. That destroyed 57 acres off highway 128 on the southeast flank. The cause of that fire is also under investigation. The lake county homeowner blamed for last years devastating valley fire said he is being denied permission to inspect the evidence. Clutier wiring to a hot seven sparked the blaze that killed four people and caused 57 million in damage. The owners of the hot tub say cal fire will not allow them to examine the evidence. They claim an eyewitness spotted an unknown a vehicle on their property just before the fire broke out. So far no charges have been filed. Members of the Sikh Community say someone ripped out pages of the holy book in a city park this happened around 7 pm tuesday night as they gathered at the contempo park in union city. One man tried to stop the man from desecrating the book but injured his hand and shoulder in the process. Union city police would like to speak to the man but say what he did was not illegal. We will stand together. Supporters of a woman facing eviction in San Francisco are calling on the District Attorney to file charges of elder abuse. Yesterday a group held a rally in support of iris canada. Last week a judge ruled she had to leave at unit she moved into more than 40 years ago. Five other units in the building were renovated and sold as tenant in common units. She was 86 years old at the time that conversion started. She was not evicted but given a life estate which means she owns the unit could pay 700 a month rent until her death. Then the property would go back to the owners. The Union Representing ward clerks and janitors reached an agreement with the county on a raise on friday afternoon. The Court Workers walked off the job on august 3 and picketed outside the courthouse in san jose for eight days. Court business was disrupted during the strike workers said they had not had a raise in eight years but that will soon change. Union members plan to vote on the contract over the weekend. The county said it expects they should be back on the job, monday morning with normal court operations. Here is a sign that California Drought is far from over. Low water levels at folsom lake is prompting lower limits for boats there. Beginning monday, the maximum speed for boats and other watercraft on the lake will be 5 Miles Per Hour. Many parts of the lake are too shallow bringing rocks in the water closer to the surface. A number of both are getting scratched up. Led a boaters at their own risk. If youre going to be stupid and go in places too fast that arent safe and you dont know the lake, that is your responsibility. The last time the low water speed limit when it was effect was in july of last year through january. Low water levels are forcing the closure of several boat ramps at folsum as well. This is breaking news we told you. A section of Mountain View has been shut down because of a gas leak in the power outage. Christien kafton just arrived on scene. Reporter good morning. This is a developing situation in Mountain View. You can see, we just arrived on scene of this gas leak on el camino boulevard. We just got off the phone with pg e. They tell us in this case it was a thirdparty contractor who was doing work in the hour who broke a one inch plastic line that caused this gas leak. The incident happened on west el camino. You can see that crews from Mountain View and pg e are working right now in this area to repair the line. At this point in time it does not look like there are any evacuations underway right now. We are in a secured area. They are trying to keep people out of the area. That includes closing el camino boulevard. Other roads are likely shut down. The latest word were hearing from pg e is that they are hoping to have this line capped by 10 am. That would be in about 15 minutes. They are hoping to have that line capped. Presumably they will be able to reopen the road to three traffic again. This happened around 8 12 am. A thirdparty contractor broke a one inch elastic gas line. There is a gas leak in the area. Right now we can say that we are probably 50 or 100 yards away from where the gas leak is. You do not smell anything which is a good sign. When you can smell the gas you know it is in high enough concentrations to be dangerous. At this point in time, no pg e or Mountain View police and Fire Department are not taking chances. They are trying to keep everyone clear and out of the area. If you are traveling to the area be sure you know that el camino boulevard and other roads are likely to be shut down until at least 10 am.
