For your weekend, the wind are picking up. And a red flag warning picking up this afternoon and lasting into tomorrow morning and ill explain in a moment. Lets step outside and take a look. The sun is up and a little fog out there this morning and mostly clear skies for the inlet communities. A beautiful start where the winds are in the hills. So many of us not feeling it just yet and that is where the red flag warning will be for later this afternoon into sunday morning. Take a look at your temperatures, a cool start in some spots. 47 outside your door. 49 in napa. And a lot of 50s to start the day and 57 in San Francisco. 55 in livermore and 58 in fairfield and into the south bay. San jose 55. We have mostly clear skies in store for today and this morning weak up with the fog along the coastline. You see the areas from ocean beach to pacifica and santa crews. But the rest of us waking up to blue sky and well have sunny conditions and a temperatures a little cooler this system is a little tough to see. But it will be dropping into california and it will bring us some wind. And because of this path, it will not bring us a lot of moisture. Well have a slight chance of a few scattered showers late tonight into tomorrow morning. But the bigger story will be the wind. It will pick up a little later today. Here are the numbers for the afternoon. Low 60s for pacifica and low 70s in hayward and 80 for the warmer spots like livermore. More on the red flag warnings and the winds coming up. The developing story, the mass shooting at Umpqua Community college in oregon, five of the nine people hurt in the attack remain in the hospital. They range in critical to stable but they are all expected to survive. And the sheriff said that he will not use the remember of the gunman. He wants to people to remain the names and the faces of the People Killed in the shooting. Here are the victims. Quinn cooper of roseberg, 18 years old. Nine people died in the shootings. Eight students and one teacher. And the students ranged in age from 18 to 59 years old and some recently graduated from high school and others were looking for a new start in life. That morning he was happy and carefree and i love you mom, see you later. And he never came home and he never will again. Tonya angels son was taking classes after getting sober in a salvation Rehab Program. He would have turned 34 next week. This morning investigators are still looking for a motive to the attack. And the gunman did hand over a flash drive and hatefilled manifesto a person at the school before opening fire. Authorities are trying to figure out what set off that shooter. He was a student at Umpqua Community college. First person he killed was his english instructor. They recovered six guns at school and 7 at home. All were legally obtained by him or family leader. And president obama is frustrated that congress has not approved new gun control laws. But he is promising not to give up. Im going to talk about this on a regular basis. And i will politicalize it. Our inaction is a political decision that we are making. He has ordered flags flown at halfstaff till tuesday in honor of the nine People Killed. The story a student that risked his life to save others. Hear from a proud aunt and people nationwide are coming to his aid. And lets head to the east coast and the Severe Weather headed that way. People are bracing for Hurricane Joaquin. It is moving quickly to the carolinas and the midalantic. It has Hurricane Joaquin missing the shoreline. But several states are not taking any chances. They will get heavy rainfall from this midlatitude system in the southeast. Some areas getting very heavy rainfall. Roads closed in many of the areas and the flooding could reach record levels in the carolinas. Flood warnings in effect from florida to connecticut. Near the bahamas a u. S. Cargo ship carrying 33 people is still missing. For more than two days, theres no word or site of the ship. It was near the high of Hurricane Joaquin. They said it was waking on water but the flooding had been contained. The crew is made up of 28 americans and five polish nationals. And the coast guard is resuming the search this morning. And well turn to afghanistan where were following breaking news this morning. Nine workers for Doctors Without Borders were killed in and explosion that may have been and us us air strike. Right now this morning. 30, people are still missing. They did conduct and air strike that may have caused collateral damage. Two correctional deputies in jail this morning after more allegations of misconduct. Deputy ryan sounders is accused of illegally looking up private information for personal use. And this one is accused of workers comp fraud this comes weeks after three other correctional deputies were arrested in connection with the death of an inmate. These investigations were months in advance prior to the tragic incident. Both deputies were suspended two weeks ago. And theyre bail is set at 20,000 each. A Group Protesting against police will kick offer a statewide caravan. They had family members injured or killed by bay area officers in recent years. One is the uncle of oscar grant. Police released a sketch a man suspected in sexually assaulting a boy in a bathroom. The boy told his mother what happened and she was waiting outside of the bathroom and yelled for help. Oakland police said they arrested five suspected gang members and they describe them as dangerous people that are involved in recent violent crimes. Some lanes on the lower deck of bay bridge will be closed tomorrow through thursday for a safety project. And drivers are hoping that the closures will not affect them as this past weeks closures. At one point they closed three lanes on the lower deck of the bay bridge and that did cause bumper to bumper traffic all the way down 80 and during the week when dodgers and 49ers were playing. They said that they could not avoid the closures. And we had to close several lanes for the safety of the workers and to accommodate the equipment that they use. Still, some people say that caltran should find ways to avoid working during events that create more traffic. And it could take another week and more to finish this current project. But it will be windy in the hills when you say 50 miles an hour that is enough to blow you off the hill. Yes. That is enough to bring down trees and fire lines and start fires. But for today, getting rid of the fog along the coastline and well be mostly sunny elsewhere. And the temperatures will be mild for the most. And 60s and 70s around the bay and the inland communities getting to 80 degrees. Even the Central Valley will be in the low 80s today. But classes will not resume till the following week. Five people were oned in thursdays tack and they are still in the hospital this morning. They have not confirmed if the shooter died by suicide or if he was killed by the police. It is different when you find out that he lived next to you. And again, were expecting the wind to pick up at some point this afternoon, especially for our north and east bay hills and that is where we have advisory. But all of us could turn a little breezy at times. Were showing you what you can expect. You notice the winds beginning to pick up anywhere from ten to 20 miles an hour. Half moon bay looking a little windy to about 30 miles an hour. As we get into 6 00, more of the same in and around San Francisco and Half Moon Bay and we have breezy conditions in and around oakland. And the evening hours, the winds look like they let up a little bit. But over portions of the north bay, still going quite strong. To be do with the system that is the north of us sinking into california over the next 24 hours or so and not a lot of moisture here so not expecting much rain this. We could have a few sprinkles roll through the area late tonight into tomorrow morning. But it is the cooler weather and it is the wind. The victims are Lucero Alcaraz of roseburg. 19 years old. Twin, glenn cooper of roseburg, 18 years old. Nine people died in the shooting. Eight students and one teacher. The students ranged in age from 18 to 59. Some recently graduated from high school while others were looking to start a new life expect that point, he was happy and carefree and i love you mom, see you later. And he never came home and he never will again . Absolutely heartbreaking. That was tonya and her son jason was actually taking classes at the college. He had just gotten sober through a Salvation Army Rehab Program. He wouldve turned 34 this next week. Now, lets talk about the mode of. Investigators are trying to figure out why this happened. They say the gunman actually handed over a hate filled manifesto to a person at the school before opening fire. Authorities are trying to figure out what set him off. The president has ordered flags to be flown at half staff until sunset on tuesday in honor of those nine People Killed. Some Severe Weather heading to the coast. People are bracing for the arrival of Hurricane Joaquin. The category for hurricane is moving toward the quickly. They have the hurricane missing the shoreline. Several states are not taking any chances. The southeastern unit are still going to get heavy rainfall from this midlatitude system in the southeast. Some areas getting very heavy rainfall. Roads are closed in many areas and flooding could reach record levels in the carolinas. Flood watches are in effect from florida to connecticut. The rest comes weeks after three other correctional deputies were arrested in connection with the death of an inmate. These investigations were months in advance prior to that tragic incident. Both deputies were suspended two weeks ago and their bail has been set at 20,000 each. Now to where police have made an arrest in the case of a body found in tuesday of a body wrapped in plastic took his 36 yearold has been taken into custody. He was spotted driving into richmond.
