We report on that firefight. There are 1100 fire personnel here and more on the way. The weather conditions are supposed to be 10 degrees cooler than it was yesterday. The latest information that we have is that the fire has burned 2250 acres and is 10 contained. We know it has been spreading and it is moving down towards the canyon area which is on the east side. One home and fixed outbuildings have been destroyed. 300 homes are still damaged. Theyre coming to the area to take a closer look to see if anything has been missed. So thats one thing that they warned them about. Despite mandatory Evacuation Orders we have been reporting some people are choosing to stay behind and protect properties. The decision is actually illegal. Violating a mandatory Evacuation Order is a just is a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine. The reasoning is, someone stays behind, and that unnecessarily jeopardizes those rescuers. And, should people who violate mandatory Evacuation Orders ace criminal punishment . A lot of people talking about this. She says, mandatory evacuations are mandatory. If ignored, they should Face Criminal Charges is like choosing not to wear a seatbelt. Are you kidding . They say that they are temporarily blocking funding. How are they linking these two . Well, theyre all here in the same vicinity and that is why city leaders have those concerns. They voted to block funding for the trans bay terminal project at least for the time being of a sort out those problems with the nearby Millennium Tower which is behind us here at the corner of mission in fremont. And a half a block away is without terminal is. And, this has now sunk 16 inches over the past eight years. A new app that provides instant access to dog walkers when you dont have time to walk your dog. It connects you with someone who does. It cost 20 for 30 minutes 30 for an hour, and when the walk is over, you get a report card including a map of where the dog walked. So far, it has launched in los angeles as well as new york. A report card. A new nonprofit has come up with a way for people to donate in need without worrying about how the money is being spent. It allows people to buy gift cards for 25 and give those parts to someone who needs a little help. The person takes the card to a center and exchanges it for goods and services. , we are joined they the ceo. Thank you for coming in. Hello good morning. I think we have always walked down the street and encountered someone who is homeless and they have asked for money i have handed out money. 25 has never crossed my mind. Why that price . Why do you find that to be the target . Did a lot of research on what it would take what is unique, its not just cash. It is specific with project homeless connect a couple of our partner nonprofits where the individual would take the card. We found that 25 is the sweet spot it was enough maybe you have to cross town and pay for a bus pass to exchange that. So that was the right amount that we have found. Just a followup, how do you select a mean you mentioned your nonprofit partners. We it is kind of an organic process. We want organizations that are going to be able to accept people and they bring the car then and are used to handling that kind of traffic. Kinds of goods and services do they get quick they can exchange it to pay for a cell phone bill, groceries, prescription, you really try to keep it flexible. But again, it is not cash. The case manager that organization is making sure it goes towards that. Are you able to track if there are any gift cards that lets say, i pay for in the hands of someone but then he or she doesnt use it . Yes. We track that. And we build that into our system. After a six month. The gift card expires the donation you made would go to somebody else. So its just one piece of handout. We work with about 60 nonprofits and in 25 cities. Your donation would go to somebody else. So someone who is homeless and has the card what is the responses that you are getting . Is it a sense of independence, responsibility if they get a cell phone or something and are looking for a job. Whats the response . I mean, the number one responses i didnt know that people cared. And i didnt realize that someone would have thought that i was worth 25 and wanted to help. They think that it has been away human to human to see each other not as a homeless person but i want to help and im investing in it. We were talking about this, some people are concerned about giving money to a homeless person in helping them with their addiction set of things that they they dont give them the money if its not going to what they see as something that will hurt them. Right. For us, as ordinary citizens we are not qualified to make that decision. While only 20 of the Homeless Population does have Substance Abuse challenges, it is not the bigger picture. This takes the decision on your hands and it just lets you give and no a social worker will connect to that person. Give a dollar figure how much money has been through the system . How many people have bought these gift cards . Were just over 50,000 on the platform in general handouts raised 1. 6 million. This is again one small piece. The exciting thing is google is matching so when you buy a gift card they look like this, from the website google will buy one for you. How many cities are you in . So, without Online Platform you can give crowdfunding platforms. And thats and 25 cities, the gift cards are mostly here in San Francisco for we have piloted them in detroit. Thats cool. Yes, we try to make it clear and straightforward. Thats great. Ink you. Thank you for coming in. Coming up, can you imagine, a look at yankees fans to stop watching their pinstripes . Hes about to pop the question one shiny detail is missing. Taking a peek at the twitter check thats not only on the prompter but in our minds. We have been asking you throughout the morning do you think that homeowners who choose to ignore Evacuation Orders and stay with their homes in hopes of protecting homes when there is a wildfire happening should those people Face Criminal Charges . It is a misdemeanor to stay. In the state of california. A lot of people are saying yes. When the fire crews tell you to leave we need to leave. Youre putting their lives in danger. And, same way. Yes, they can get hurt trying to save these people when it couldve been avoided. But i will mention, that some people at the person who spoke with janine said, im worried about people coming in and looting. And if i can stay make sure that doesnt happen in going to do that. She tweeted know, the nation expect help. Everyone loses when people do this. She said yes, it puts others in danger. I worked in arizona its called a motor long during monsoons when it gets flooded if you go in and you get stuck, you pay the tab for the first responders. Interesting. Let us know what you think. Its not always enforced but still it is on the books. And, just use our hashtag. Alcott talking about fire we were referencing that loma fire. Lets move north homeowners are facing the aftermath of a wildfire. Thats right. It destroyed for homes and badly damaged several others. Were joined live from Leigh Martinez when we see those homes that didnt survive. Thats right. The fire is contained. But it shows you just how dangerous the fire conditions are. A fire that had started off of highway 101 quickly spread to the backyards of these homes destroying four of them. And, this is all the stuff that was inside of their house that is now completely devastated. And, 10 more homes are also burned. They had very little time to react and, by the time that fire crews had arrived the houses were all ready on fire. There were 10 were damaged and, a man suffered smoke inhalation and a young woman burned the bottom of her feet when she ran barefoot out of her house to rescue an elderly neighbor. A cat also died inside of a burning home. Homeowners blame the eucalyptus trees used as a buffer between the highway and the homes were intensifying the fire. The trees ignited quickly and the wind blew the embers off the treetops and onto houses. We stuck to the city. And, we asked for the wall. And, at least 18 years ago. And it never happened. There, this morning fire crews came to monitor hotspots. They say that the fire likely started off of highway 101. While it is still under investigation they believe it is a human cause. Reporter you can see some of this other damage. They have been destroyed in this fastmoving fire. And if you look out to 101, this is where the fire was started. You will see, there is caltrans. I called their office about an hour ago and spoke to someone and i asked about those trees. The spokesperson says, that you needed to get back to us because she wasnt sure exactly where on the roads those trees fell. And, if they would be taken down. The will definitely be following that up. Thank you. Elsewhere, firefighters are making Good Progress about the sawmill fire. And, containment jumped from 75 to 85 . That fire has burned 1500 acres. While there were two minor injuries there were no more of evacuations. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. And, joining us now the look at that forecast. Cooler, a big fog bank. And great news for those firefighters. There will be rain. And, its transition time so cooler coast even though its funny. Look at those temps. They will take a huge drop. And, i think that all eyes are on sunday. While. I think it will be very warm. Probably pretty breezy. Monday morning they get their first round. Wonder if theres been a situation where a wildfire was put out by rain. That has happened. They have had thunderstorms takeout wildfires. Just wondering. Thank you. And he bases it on a series of 13 factors. Its including among other things the strong thirdparty challenger. And, a relatively unpopular representative of the in party, Hillary Clinton. This year he says against trump an average. But before you start celebrating early, he says, not so fast. Back are not reading a crystal ball going on patterns of history and donald trump is a history shattering candidate. He said at least a dozen things that would drive any of the candidate out of the race. And how the first to tell you, it relies on traditional actors. And a nontraditional election year.
