A nice little win over the other wildcats across the golden gate. Were talking football today. Were going to be talking more about the big game. Were going to start off with politics, the democratic president ial nominee will not be making a scheduled trip to the bay area today. Thats because of health concerns. Hillary clinton nearly collapsed during an event in new york city yesterday. And her campaign has revealed she is recovering from pneumonia. Ktvus alex savidge joining us live in San Francisco this morning where clinton was scheduled to be tonight. Reporter yeah, she was supposed to appear here later on tonight. She is skipping that visit to the bay area as she continues to recuperate. Hillary clinton will miss out on high dollar fundraiser that is going to still go on as planned at the masonic in San Francisco. Some donors have spent as much as 100,000 to get inside for the event. Heres what happened yesterday. Clinton nearly collapsed as she was leaving a 9 11 ceremony in new york. The campaign initially blamed the heat, and while it had been a hot week in new york, yesterday was quite comfortable in the city. Clintons campaign eventually revealed the candidate had been diagnosed with pneumonia days earlier and after she was forced to leave the 9 11 event, she went to her daughters apartment nearby to rest up. Are you feeling better. Yes, thank you. Very much. Reporter and there you see later in the day, clinton was seen Walking Around on her own. Her doctor said that she is recovering nicely. Clintons health had become somewhat of an issue in weeks past after she had several coughing attacks as she was speaking out on the campaign trail. And according to an article posted by People Magazine a short time ago, there have been several clinton staffers, at least a half dozen who have fallen ill with pneumonia recently as well. So clinton for the time being, taking a break from campaigning. She will not make the trip here to california. And will not be in attendance for the fundraiser. We understand she will possibly appear remotely at this event tonight. Alex savidge live in San Francisco. Thanks alex. We spoke this morning with ktvus political analyst joe tuman about Hillary Clintons health, and whether the campaign should have released details about the pneumonia earlier. Most people dont talk about their Health Issues with other people. Theres a Natural Inclination that you have to be reserved about this, and in the context of this political race. This isnt just a competition. Its blood sport, and any sign of we weakness that you show is an advantage for the opponent. Donald trump said he will release the results of a physical exam later this week. And some are saying Hillary Clintons campaign should have been up front with her condition. Others say as long as it doesnt affect the campaign, its her own business. Our question to you is the health of candidates an issue that should be discussed during the campaign. One gentleman wrote all issues should be addressed by all candidates including but not limited to health and tax returns. And not as much as their taxes or lack thereof. The piper cherokee was headed for san carlos. It crashed around 6 15 last night just after take off. All three people on board were killed. At least 15 vehicles were damaged. There is no word on what caused that crash. This morning, a federal investigator will be at the scene. Moving now to another of todays big stories. Of course the 49ers season home opener is tonight, and so far the teams new head coach is something of a mystery to the public and to the media. Mark tamayo mark ibanez worked his sources to find out what he could about coach chip kelly. The bill walsh, the genius, george seaforth, underrated brilliance. Steve mariachi. The motivator. Mike singletary, mr. Intensity. I want winners. Jim harbaugh, High Maintenance winner. Jim tomsula, simply miscast. Chip kelly, who knows. Its difficult to get a sense of what does make the 49ers new coach tick. The team does not allow one on one interviews and his answers at press conferences are somewhat vague and evasive. For instance, after his highly Successful College career, his transition to the nfl was a disaster. Kelly was basically run out of philadelphia for reasons seemingly more related to his handling of players issues off the field than his football accuments. When asked if he was doing anything different with the 49ers, he was glib. Put a lot more screen on. Reporter since its virtually possible to ask in anything other than a group scenario, hes known as an offensive innovator whose fast paced game plans met with mixed success. A man who won the number one quarterback spot this summer is clearly on board with kellys ideology. Hes a tremendous play caller and the feel he has for games is something i have never been around. Reporter theres no question kelly brings a true coaching presence with hill. Adroitly handling the Colin Kaepernick fire storm, and brushing off accusations about how he mishandled players in philadelphia. In his brief tenure with San Francisco, kelly has reached out to the leaders of the team, and apparently made sure they know where hes coming from. We hear a lot of stories. In the sprung, when we got here, he gave me a call, and ever since then, the relationship has been fine. The past is the past. As far as coach kelly, hes a players coach. He takes good care of us, and you know, his energy level is there. So its a trickle down effect. Reporter from all reports, kelly considers himself not only an innovator but the coach who lives on the bleeding edge of technology when it comes to getting the most out of athletes he has coached. His progressive ideas have been well received. He is into the science of the sport. We have had a couple doctors come in, about how to take care of your body. Thats how you perform at a high level. I mean into that. I like it. At this point, with the team unbeaten but a predictively rough season ahead, kelly has coasted without controversy through his first several months on the job. The only way to keep things calm, though, is winning. With a dearth of talent on the team that will not be easy. Well have to wait and see in se a year from now what the question mark about chip kelly turns into. Mark ibanez, for fox news sports. Chip kelly on the block. We are getting a better insight into the frightening moments right after the fire started. 911 calls captured the fear and devastation people felt as it moved closer. My home was destroyed by fire, and im looking for information if we can get back into Hidden Valley right now. Wow. Very powerful to hear the story told through that. You know, it started with one call, hey, we have a fire. Right now it doesnt look too big, and then to hear the husband and his voice talk about his wife being disabled and then you can hear the choppers in those phone calls as well. The call takers are getting more, you know, urgent sounding, too. Right. I think thats the closest i have ever been to feeling like a victim when that woman said the fire is on our property. And you can hear her talking to someone in the background. We have to go. Thats pretty scary. I remember the winds picked up and wow, the fire really went fast. I remember talking with a guy who said he saw the fire from a distance, and he thought, well, okay they want us to evacuate, so were going to start packing some stuff. He said i turned around and looked out the back door, and the fire was right behind us. They left with nothing. Time to go. Yeah, they had to. Authorities say about 40 of the homes lost in the fire are going to be rebuilt. Ktvus ken wayne recently returned to the area and he says almost the charred hillsides and dead trees are signs of renewal. One man says hes just now moving back into his home in middletown. We go to the meetings and they would say one thing, and turn around and do another thing. The Playing Field is not level for everyone. Its agonizing and heartbreaking. Theres not a night that goes by that you dont think about it or you have to deal with it the next day. 50 percent of the people in cobb have gone, have either bought elsewhere. Its just such a horrible long process. Some people say the cost of rebuilding is more than the homes are worth when theyre finished. So for those who didnt have insurance, they simply cannot afford to rebuild. Some have moved out of the lake county area, away from the fire zone. The coverage of the First Anniversary of the valley fire continues all day long on air and online. Firefighters are often forced to make difficult calls when battling a wildfire, including which homes can be saved and which ones need to be sacrificed. Ktvus pam cook is here with more on what she found out about the difficult decisions they have to make. Its very scary, and it was very eye opening. There are some things that homeowners can do to better their chance of saving their home if a wildfire is moving in the direction. I went on a special ride along with fire crews in marin county as they explained the process. They told me that there are some factors that homeowners can control that greatly influence the decision. As we drove around, they pointed out specific examples. Heres what is a great example of defensible space, and what that means, and heres what they called threatened but not defendable. They are driving along and if a wildfire is moving in your direction, they have to assess very quickly, and they will say we have to pass this house. This house, this house, and they told me some specific reasons of why. And i noticed that video they had all the trees around the house. That house they wouldnt defend. One of those houses, in that shot that you see there, and we have a lot of this in the bay area, in many areas where there are canyons and it has a lot to do with the terrain, the topography of the area, and yes, if there are trees and brush going right up to your house, that is going to be a determining factor of whether or not because they cant risk. They said part of it is firefighter safety and they cant risk getting into a tough area, and trying to save a home thats not going to be defendable. They move to the homes that are easy to defend. And getting engines up there for structure protection. Thats a very big important factor. We have that tonight on the 10 00 news. Around the world, people marked the 15th anniversary of the september 11th terror attacks. This is the tribute in light at the 9 11 Memorial Museum in new york city. Made up of 88 search lights in place of where the twin towers once stood. The lights shined brightly in the Lower Manhattan skyline. Menlo park fire chief, and his rescue team were among those called to assist. As the team headed home, 70 complained of prolonged coffee, pneumonia, and serious rashes and now some are coping with longterm respiratory problems and cancer. Chief chapelhelman said people have apologized for not warning of the dangers they were exposed to. They didnt tell us the knowledge they had. Its water under the bridge, but thats still unacceptable to me. But i dont think it was the right decision for the people on the pile working there every day. Its the only event that weve ever gone from the minimum level of respiratory protection and added more later on in the event while we were there. And we all knew as soon as that happened something was dramatically wrong. He also said the original mission was to search for and recover victims in the rubble but that abruptly changed when they first arrived. They said to us we believe theres going to be other attacks and theyre going to try and take out the responders down at ground zero, so we need you guys to be the First Responders, not only to the city which at that time, they didnt have capability that was left, but in case something happened to the responders down at ground zero, we would be the ones that would then go in and rescue the rescuers. Fortunately that did not happen. They spent days recovering victims from the twin tower rubble. He says its during the worst times that some of the best americans come out. A photo of the tennessee firefighter honoring the victims and First Responders of september 11th has gone viral. This picture of Jason Harding was posted yesterday morning. He went to a gym, and asked if he could use a stair machine to climb 110 steps of stairs in honor of his fallen brothers and sisters of 9 11. A gym employee said the gesture moved her to tears, she took a photo, posted it on facebook. It has been shared more than 140 times since yesterday. The officers are accused in the exploitation of a teenage girl who goes by the name celeste guap. But guap is in a florida jail after biting a Police Officer there. The da says she needs guap to be back here in the bay area in order to arrest and charge the officers or the case may fall apart. Now, ms. Guap claims she had sex with more than two dozen local Police Officers during the last two years including when she was under the age of 18. A new development in the case of friday nights freeway crash in san ramon that killed a 3yearold boy. The chp now says the driver of the suv that crashed into a stalled car on the interstate 680 is the wife of an Alameda County sheriffs deputy, and she was arrested on charges of driving under the influence. The 3yearold boys mother was seriously hurt. His 11yearold brother and 1 yearold sister were also hurt in that crash. Happening today, the biological father of audrie pott will be holding a News Conference calling for changes in californias parenting laws. Now, audrie pott is the sarasota teenager who committed suicide after being sexually assaulted at a house party. Her biological father, michael lazaren claims he was unfairly denied access to his daughter. He wants the laws change, including requirements that prove paternity. Back in 2005, a judge ruled against granting parental rights to lazeren. He also tried to join a wrongful death lawsuit filed by audreys family against three teenage boys involved in the assault. I think that was the frustrating thing last year. They were bad and never got better. They will pull out a win. The teams are evenly matched. They will have trouble with todd gurley, and i give the 9ers the win tonight. Scott i wanted to ask you about the 9ers adds well. If the team goes 6 as well. If they go 6 and 10, that doesnt help them out. 2 and 19, they get a draft pick. Are they going to win enough games to be ridiculous or should they be rebuilding. Should they take the season from day one so they can get a draft pick. I dont think i can advocate that. People have been saying its ridiculous. Its an up hill battle for the team. On the field, theyre going to be looking across at more talented teams most weeks this season. Its a fact. What kind of effect will chip kelly have, we dont know yet. My concern heading in is its this litany of off field issues. They say, and word from the locker room is the kaepernick anthem thing hasnt been a distraction. Then Anthony Davis in contemplating retirement because he doesnt want to play tackle. Thats not a good thing. We wont start, so you have a back up tackle, thats not a good match up. Just in terms of tonight, i think the 9ers have got to play well. Even they dont win the game, they cant come out and lose 33 10, because then people are going to start saying, wow, look at the off field stuff, theyre discombobulated. Is there any reason for 49ers fans to grab onto, and say yeah, predictions are not good, but they could surprise us. Sure. Because youve got a new coach with a new offense, and we have no idea how this is going to play out, and carlos hyde is a weapon. There are weapons on this team, i have a hard time envisionings a scenario where they envisioning a scenario where they shock the world, but can they win tonight, absolutely. Its about baby steps. Do you think kaepernick is a distraction. Hes not a starter. If he was starting the game maybe it would be more so. Lets talk about the starter, Blaine Gabbert. He does need to. He needs to prove the haters wrong. Check down, check down, he has to come out there, be confident, he has to look for his receivers. He cant throw to vance mcdonald. He needs to be accurate, use his legs when he can. Its a big night for gabbert. Does kaepernick kneeling, what are your thoughts on the silent protest. I dont think it plays a role on the field. In terms of the silent protest, im supportive of kaepernick. Hes doing something peaceful to start a conversation and hes done it. He started a National Conversation on issues that need to be addressed. I dont think its a distraction on the field. How bad does Blaine Gabbert have to be before they decide to go to kaepernick. Only chip kelly knows the answer to that. He would have to be pretty bad, i think, in order for them to make the switch early on. You dont want to abandon your starter after week one unless its a train wreck. The other side, case keenum is not exactly tom brady, and the 49ers have a chance to win the defense. They dont have to get five touchdown ats out of Blaine Gabbert to win. If the rams offense is terrible, they have a chance to win on that side of the ball, get the momentum. Tara, drifters accused of killing one person in Golden Gate Park and another person in marin county. Theyre back in court right now. Whats the latest on this case. We havent mentioned it in a while. Reporter yeah, we havent heard about this in a while, and today we know theres some sort of motion being filed. Not sure exactly what thats about. We know that all three are appearing in court this morning. As we speak, we know that their attorneys, the attorney for lila alligood, Morrison Lampley and sean angold have argued for no cameras to be allowed in court. They think any Media Coverage could taint the jury pool, and they clients would receive a fair trial. They are all charged with murder, robbery, and related counts in the shooting death of audrey carey and steve carter. The body of carey was found last october in Golden Gate Park. And two days later carter was killed walking his dog on a hiking trail outside fair fax. Investigators say the homeless trio stole a gun from a car in fishermans wharf, and then they stole carters car and drove to oregon where they were later caught. And tara, alex nieto shot and killed by San Francisco police. Some event tomorrow tied to him . Reporter yes, his friends and family are asking the city to create a permanent public memorial for him at vernal heights park where she he was shot and killed by police in 2012. Training for Police Officers and deputies at the urban shield, Law Enforcement came from around the area, the country and overseas, running through a grueling series of challenges in dublin. Organizers say the urban shield exercise uses real life scenarios, the event began on friday, and participants were met by protesters at the Alameda County fairgrounds.
