A pregnant woman was found on the street in san pablo. Henry lee has been following this from the start. Henry . Reporter , an arrest an arrest was made in the shooting death of an 18yearold. The blast that you heard appeared to have come from a grenade. Then authorities used. Police tracked down the suspect to an apartment building. The eventually used the Fire Departments ladder to take the suspect into custody. He is identified as 25yearold luis morales 21yearold luis mireles. The 18yearold victim was shot at 17th and sutter. Witnesses say that they heard several gunshots in a car speed away. She was reported to have been at least seven months pregnant. She was found with a gunshot wound to her chest. Doctors performed an emergency csection but her baby did not survive. Storm it is a bad thing, whoever did this, they should pay. According to a facebook page, they are going they were going to have a baby shower this weekend. They are looking for a second man. Did they say what the relationship was between this person that they arrested and the woman who was killed . A. B. They were dating . Have thats has that been revealed . No. They have not told us of any relationships. And lets talk about the fact that a woman shot and killed and her baby did not survive. The is not considered a double homicide class reporter it is. So any suspect could face double homicides. Anything on the suspect in regards to previous criminal history . Reporter we just got his name so we will be digging and providing more information. And, they have been saying that they will reveal a new iphone. And some of those will be eliminating some are saying that they will be eliminating the earphone. If they do that, it is basically than saying, hey that jack is 100yearold technology. I dont really mind. It is not a selling point for me. Definitely not. I think you need to be able to do that. It will eliminate if they eliminate the headphone jack it will make the new phone run faster and it could be waterproof. They say, it will also produce an adapter for people like me who want to use those earbuds. Ryan is the cofounder of the so the criticism has only kind of been overhauled approved. Do you find that this new product coming out today is going to be a big hit . Well, it will outsell any iphone to date. And, everyone waiting for it. Im waiting for my contract to expire. So, the controversy about the headphone jack i dont think is as big a deal. Eventually it will just make your space in the phone to do other things. It will allow it to be thinner and lighter. And the really interesting thing about the new iphone is that the iphone seven is going to have a dual camera on the back see will have a wide angle lens as well as the telephoto lens that will help your photography look better without having to put an adapter. And, they will actually be taking the clickable button away it will have feedback something that will be more like a virtual button. We are not sure that it what it will look like. But, thats going to give us a water resistant that the apple watch has picked you saying its not a big deal. But if i just spent 300 on headphones and i cant use them with my new phone, maybe you dont get the new phone . Are those of us who like to use 20 of that both capacity, that is a core thing for me. Heres the good news, they anticipate people will want to use the regular headphones. So there will be an adapter. And it will be included with the phone. And, the other part is, one thing that irritates me about my phone is when i plug in and i have not only the power jack but there are two different points where i can break the phone and now its one thats kind of nice. If you have got a really nice pair of beats headphones or something i could understand how that would be a deterrent. But i think with them adding the adapter you can use your headphones that probably makes it a little bit less of a crazy upgrade. You think that they will is this all going to have lcd . But i agree with you. But the battery life would be awesome. But if we talk about the apple watch one of the things that they were talking about is maybe they had lte which would be really awesome. And then hopefully by march it will have a selection that we can have a Permanent Police chief and best in oakland and one that will be able in oakland and one that will be able to say no to the city council and really reestablish the efforts within the police department. Because we have been challenged a number of years. And i dont have to tell you have been there 3. 5 years. Yes. What do people tell you that they want . I know that you are out in the community a lot. Did people come in and say i want whatever . I grew up in oakland and we live in oakland. I am paying for a service and i expect for you to deliver a service. So when i call dont tell me i have to wait three hours to show up the next day to have a police presence. We are looking for a more immediate response. And, thats really the common courtesy. There was a youth forum specifically about a week ago. And i heard from two young men who said they want someone who will keep me from being mugged on my way home from school and i want a police chief who is not afraid of me and not afraid to come into the community. Those sounded like low bars. If thats what youre asking for. And i think that the reality as we as neighbors have, we know where the illegal activity is occurring and we know where a city we are a city who holds back but i can tell you with a pencil, i can tell you are the guys growing in doing illegal activity exists. But somebody i cant enforce the law someone within the police has to be able to respond. So im looking for a police chief that has a leadership skills in an urban fighting that knows how to create the team effort but be able to respond to the public. When it comes to the culture of the Oakland Police, some people have said that there is corruption. Number one, have you heard that in number two hardy you think of that . Our performance has been below basic. We have a great individual we have great individuals that are trying to do the job. But the Leadership Levels we have been challenged. Theres activity that i couldnt do like allowing that badge to be able to do that and explain that. So i think thats where we lost the trust of the community. So we are professionals Law Enforcement individuals and we expect you to deliver that service. And, so, i do it knowledge that we have had a federal oversight for 13 years made millions of dollars but they are still there. And, you know, the valley really well. Have you had any recent discussions regarding the sex scandal . Against any the officers have been accused . Thats still not very clear. Have you affect . I have asked that. Were waiting for information and were stuck at that level. Do think that there will be . I think that there will be. We are choosing a young lady of doing things. But i know other individuals who have walked with me to deal with prostitution. And, that have shared their experience. You know, they were one time there. So my uncle mark on and off the street for about 30 years. But i never looked at him as homeless. And when he passed away i started thinking about how we tell our stories in society. And he said its a way to make sure his memory wasnt lost it every day we are on facebook so i thought how could we use these tools to help our homeless neighbors. And off you go. And what kind of connections have you made . Well a few days ago we hope the man from my church reconnect to his longlost family. He had a sister he didnt know he had and then, he was on a oneway bus ticket back home. Are you there for all of them . Not all of them. Take us to your first one. About two years ago i took a walk down Market Street and i asked every homeless person if they had a holiday message for a family member. I met a man named jeffrey who said he hadnt seen his family for 22 years. We didnt know what to do with it. What on facebook they found a Facebook Group connected to his hometown. Within an hour, it had been shared hundreds of times. And it made the local news. And within 20 minutes his sister had him on a bus. He had been a missing person for 12 years. I thought theres no way that this should happen again. So about 40 of those reunions have led to stable housing. So when you were there. What are your emotions . I mean can you imagine sitting there with johnny and his Four Brothers and sisters from across the country and havent seen their uncle and 33 years. And they look in the eye and they say, thank you. When it comes to the subject, doing this, have you discovered anything about homeless this homelessness . Because you find out a lot about it. Have you found out any answers . Thats a great question. We do find somebody by what they are lacking it doesnt help them. And often times we had them say how can i help the homeless folks and we see them as someones brother or sister. There is a technical barrier as to why they are not reconnecting. Access to the internet, digital literacy. But there is an emotional barrier. The number one response we get me ask them if they would like to reconnect is, i dont to be a burden. I feel ashamed. So there is a process of restoring the connection in a way that is appropriate. Give them a chance to not only connect with a family in a nonintrusive way that helps connect them but, helps connect them with local volunteers who do the online detective work. To hear from family saying, im looking for my daughter her brother . Yes. For every message that we have recorded we have at least five or six family members who say, i am looking every day. So if i was going to share anything, to get involved with miracle messages, or not. Just seeing each person as someones brother or sister in changing how we look at our neighbors on the streets. So, there is physical dependence and then there is the psychological dependence. But it could just be a physical dependence over time and your body gets used to that pain medication. And, there are restrictions now on how much we should prescribe.
