Deficit to beat the portland trail blazers 125121. They will face either Oklahoma City or san antonio. That could be good news for some key players who need to rest up. Joining us jason applebaum. Nice to get it over with in five games. Everyone is somewhat healthy. We have gifts for you. But we only have two here. So strength in numbers courtesy of the warriors. I dont know wants these. These guys probably deserve them more than i do. They are extra large. Thats the motto. Steve kerr came up with this. Its the absolute appropriate motto. You mentioned those injuries. Yeah, great to have at least four days off, maybe six, depending what happens in the san antonio series tonight with okc. An abductor strain for bogut. Thats a groin strain. That doesnt sound good. Ner heard of it. No. When they said abductor, we are googling. But bogut we dont know about. Green has a tweak of his ankle. He played at the end of the game. Expect to see him. He will be fine. He said he had this tweak last year as well. He has to deal with it. What a game last night, huh, guys . Steph curry always seems to get the shot that puts it away with about this is a pattern. Hike with two minutes to go or so he gets that three, that ridiculous three and everyone says okay. Last night he tweeted there it is. It was the dagger. No doubt about it. That was fun to see his family celebrating as well. You know, watching the warriors play in the playoffs most of the series and most of last series without steph, its like i was thinking about it. Its like watching the foo fighters without dave groll. Its like the 9 without gasia. Thats a bit of a stretch. A great program, but not what you are used to seeing. Steph gets the ball back. Shoots the three from the corner. 29 points for steph. 11 assists. Five rebounds. And of course that step back shot that you were talking about that pretty much was the dagger with 25 seconds to go. Steph after the game, as his wife looks on, after the game he talked about oracle fans and how really they were instrumental in them battling back from that 11point deficit. We really needed that energy from the home crowd to just find a way to have some huge offensive possessions and then get some stops down the stretch. So i was happy to be a part of it. Obviously, its nice to be back. Yeah, its great to have steph back. The warriors, i dont know where they would be without him. They are now what . 82 in the playoffs. But steph, here is an interesting stat, played 37 minutes last night. I was gonna say. 37 minutes right. And played 38 minutes the entire for the last 26 days. Obviously, there is no worry about having him kind of ease back into it because when they invented livingston on that game before, he had to play. And then this last night he played. Is he just back without any restrictions . I think so. Especially now that they got four days off or six days off. I dont think there is any restrictions on steph at this point. Livingstons ejection, that turned out he was going to limit his minutes we talk about portlands backcourt. Golden states backcourt having shined. Klay thompson stepped up to the plate as well. The postgame conference, steph curry was like 11 30. The last thing he said when they excused everyone from the podium, he said hold on a second. Klay was instrumental. He was the best player in the series. Had 28 threepointers in five games. He hit at least five three pointers in every single game. 50 on threes. Klay has stepped up and shown that he can be a superstar in his own right. Lets talk for a minute. I was on bart at quarter past 11. Warriors fans all over the place. I overheard a guy say he paid 200 each for nosebleed seats and he was thrilled to pay that. Pretty good price, actually, in the playoffs. They were saying, you know, remember those years when you couldnt give tickets away . Couldnt give courtside seats away. What a change. What a change, yeah. Whats next . Spurs . Thund . Who do you think the warriors would like to face now . You know, the warriors have given up 120 points in the last three games to portland. If they have to face Oklahoma City, a more explosive team than portland, i think we are just going to see shootouts here because they are playing so well. They have won two games in san antonio. The spurs, as we know, only lost one game at home all year and that was the warriors. Now they have lost twice to Oklahoma City. So westbrook and durrant have stepped up. They are two of the biggest superstars. Durant a former mvp in his own right. I dont know. Its tough. Then you got, on the other hand, you got san antonio. Are you going to bet against gregg popovich, their head coach . It would be a chess game there. Both those teams want the warriors. I can tell you that. Absolutely. Game six tonight in that series. We will see what happens. Obviously, if Oklahoma City wins, they will face Oklahoma City. I hope it goes seven, give the warriors a full six days to rest. Speaking of seven, the sharks tonight, too. Yeah. Seven home at the tank. All right. Thanks. Donald trump on capitol hill today. He had a highstakes meeting with House Speaker paul ryan and is now meeting with Republican Senate leaders. Ryan caused waves last week when he said he was not ready to endorse trump as the republican partys president ial nominee. Then just about 30 minutes ago ryan described his meeting this morning with trump as a, quote, positive step. I am very encouraged. I heard a lot of good things from our presumptive nominee and we exchanged differences of opinion on a number of things that Everybody Knows we have. There are policy disputes we will have. There is no two ways about it. Plenty of republicans disagree with one another on policy disputes. Ryan did not respond directly to reporters who asked if he was now ready to announce his endorsement of donald trump. Now, following their meeting this morning paul ryan and trump released a joint statement saying, we had a great conversation this morning. We will be having additional discussions but remain confident there is a great opportunity to unify our party and win this fall and we are totally committed to working together to achieve that goal. Comey says he is committed to conducting a thorough investigation no matter how long it takes. He was also asked about clintons repeated characterization of what the fbi is doing as a security inquiry. There is a security inquiry going on. And, you know, we respect that. It is on its own timetable, but its moving forward. I say what i have said for many, many months. Its a security inquiry. Comey said, quote, i dont know what that means. Were conducting an investigation. Thats the bureaus business. Thats what we do. Im not familiar with the term security inquiry. Four times the number in 2012. The San Francisco Police Officers association are running a radio ad. They are blaming proposition 47 and George Gascon, who helped write that initiative. The Police Union Says prop 47 allowed more criminals back out onto the streets because it downgraded some nonviolent felonies like drug possession. She was born about three weeks ago. Not long after the bay bridge was born they had a date night tonight without baby. And a lot of people attacked teigen on twitter saying she a bad mom for leaving her baby so soon. In response, legend took to his twitter account yesterday and said this. Funny there is no dad shaming when both of us go out to dinner. Shame both of us so chrissy doesnt have to take itulla. Well split it. So our question to you is this. Do you think he or she should be shamed for going out to dinner so soon after baby is born and leaving baby behind, or should they and all new parents be able to enjoy themselves without any judgment . And whats been your experience . As new parents, we have been through that. I think im going bananas. Maybe we can go out to dinner and leave this baby. You want to share . I know this is personal. The first baby we were careful. The second baby, we were like lets stop at a bar on the way home. We did that with the first baby. It was like right there. And then we went on date nights a few weeks after. I mean, its like, you know, good for john for stepping up i appreciate that. It will be interesting to see what people think about this. Tweet to us with ktvuthe9. We cant talk about this more . After the show. What are you doing . Coming up on mornings on 2 the 9, whats the best way credit card whats the best credit card to travel with . Are mobile payments safe . We are talking to apnea list from creditcard. Com. And echoing calls from activists four city supervisors are calling for the resignation of cheer chief suhr. Mr. Brady, weve been expecting you. Will you be needing anything else . No. Not a thing. Beautyrest black. Get your beautyrest. All right. Welcome back. Mid may knocking on the door. Its still a little bit of overcast out there. It is. Right . Steve, whats going on . June gloom as we talked about. Its here in all its glory, mike, gasia, and sal. It arrived early. Last may was just as cool. Then things turned around in june. We start off with a lot of fog. A cooler pattern it looks like today inland. I know coast and bay are kind of stuck. 50s, 60s, low clouds. There are some breaks in the low clouds. They are on the move from Crescent City to san diego. We have some fog and low clouds. San franciscos 61. 52. Average is 64. They have not had a high of 64 or higher since may 5th. If you live or work in the city, it wasnt bad yesterday at at t. Below average. 66 already in brentwood. For some it will be on the warm side. For others it will be on the cool side. But a decent del spare the air breeze today, more so than yesterday, which leads me to believe inland temps wont warm up that much. That low is coming in for friday and saturday and its going to give us a cooldown inland and drizzle and light rain. The big screaming message for the inland temps will be a big drop from the 80s to maybe the upper 60s or low 70s. That would be on saturday. So get ready here. Another low dropping in means big change by the weekend. A little rebound on sunday you guys. All the locals are saying this is the weather i am used to. Thank you, steve. The summer trial season is around the corner. What should have you in your pocket. Plus, more and more people are spending money back and forth through mobile payments, but which are the safest to use. Joining us is matt schultz, senior industry analyst for creditcard. Com. Lets start with the mobile payments. I am cautious on it. I dont use it. Me, too. How popular is it . Do we have any numbers about how many people are using mobile payments . It hasnt taken off to the degree that people thought this might. Really the Biggest Issue is that people still arent convinced that it is safer than using a card and more convenient. So they have to climb those two hills. The younger credit card users are adopting the mobile payment while maybe 40 and over are a little more reluctant . Absolutely. The younger you are, the more likely you will be to adopt Something Like that. So whats the advantage . I mean, do you foresee a day when people will not carry credit cards in their wallet . Yeah. I think there will be a day when the actual plastic card is very, very uncommon because holding your holding your card in your phone is so easy. Especially if it can replace your loyalty card, too. Then its a really big deal. We talked about the chip versus the swipe. I know not all retailers have adopted it. Tell me where that stands. Some of my Favorite Stores dont chip yet. Yeah, its moving pretty slow. A lot of the stores will have the terminals in there that will look like you can use the chip card, but they might not be turned on yet because of any number of reasons. But it is moving slower than people would have liked. But this will really be the year when you see a lot more tv. Is there any concern about fraud . You bring up the chip card. Because there is that transition and then transition period, maybe hackers are more prone to going after the chip card . Yeah. They are really kind of getting after it in this period. Right now . Very definitely. Especially at gas stations, because gas stations have another year or so to adopt this technology. So theyre kind of the lowest hanging fruit. So they are getting hit hard. We see a lot of skimming scams on gas stations. Yes. What about, speaking of credit cards, travel season is here for the summertime. Is there a particular card that you think is better to use out there when you are traveling outside the United States . Or even within the states . If you are travelling outside the states, its really important to have a trip card. Everyone outside of this country uses the chip. But the card i recommend is the chase sapphire rewards. You get 50,000 points. What is cool about that is you can take the points and transfer them to other airlines or other hotels. So you can switch it off and get 50,000 and turn those points into 50,000 southwest miles, for example. Okay. All right. Just leave the credit cards at home. And if you have the ant to pull out cash, travel with cash . Thats dangerous sometimes . Somebody takes your wallet and youre yeah, credit cards are the safest way to go. If something goes wrong, you make a phone call. Cash is not king any more. All right. Senior analyst for creditcard. Com, thanks for being here. Coming up on mornings on 2 the 9, inmates working side by side about young puppies. Up next the program that trains companion animals behind bars and the ceremony happening in just about 30 minutes. Its been a busy morning for one mr. Alex savidge as he participates in bike to work today. We are told he has made it safely onto the campus of ktvu. We will talk about his journey coming up. We have a campus . Yes. . Yes. That time of the morning we are checking the twitter feed. Gasia put out the question a little bit earlier in regards of a date night. Leaving your newborn at home two, three weeks, is it okay to go out to dinner without your child . This is in response to some of the heat that Crissy Teigen is getting and john legend came to his wifes defense. Said its okay. If you are going to shame her, shame me. Daniel says parents should be able to enjoy a night out without judgment. Parenting is tough. Many wrote in. She says its perfectly fine and normal and healthy to go to dinner without baby. I am sure that baby will want for nothing. A lot of people say its fine, but its difficult. So keep that in mind. Meg says, okay, parents need a break, too. It was not a selfish reason to go out to dinner. Elliott smith, people are overreacking. I am sure the legend family didnt leave the baby with wolves. I didnt get any tweets saying dont do it. Apparently, there are people out there who dont think its okay . Did you read natalies . The dog . I have a hard time leaving my dog alone. If i do, worrying the whole time. Its not a child. But i have a dog, too. You were better with me. Our first and second, we never went out. Now its so rare we leave the children. I wish we had left them earlier so it wouldnt be so hard to leave them now. Start early. Yes, that is the secret. Right when you walk out of the hospital. As i said, we went right out to lunch. We brought him on that day. But next two weeks we went out by ourselves. Its just an hour or two. The better the parents are, the better that is for baby. If mom is cranky and cant stand seeing your crying face for another minute, she is not going to be that good for you. To reach us ktvuthe9. You can see more bikes on the road today because this is bike to work day around the bay area. As we have been showing you all morning, our own alex savidge is joining in. Although for him its almost bike as part of your work day. He shown us that cyclists can take advantage of energizer stations with water available to bike riders. Oakland is hosting a pancake breakfast at franco gallo plaza. They say its smart to buy anywhere you can. Its a great way to start your day. Get your blood flowing. You are out in the fresh air. A little exercise under your belt for the day. You meet nice people. And youre not creating a carbon footprint. You are creating a more liveable community. Not everyone can bike to work every day, but bicycle coalitions encourage people to at least try to a few times. They are asking drivers and cyclists to remember to follow the rules of the road so everyone stays safe. And after his long journey that began during the 5 00 hour in berkeley, alex has made his way back here to the station. This is him coming along the embarcadero here in jack london scare. You can see the train station there, making his way up our driveway. More and more cyclists are sharing the road. According to the u. S. Census data, this is him coming through the front doors in the lobby, oakland is leading the way. They had a 200 jump from 2000 to 2014 in the number of people actually riding their bikes to work. Is he punching elevator . Look at that. Purging the elevator. Could this be . If we could a like picture . Alex savidge rolling up on the set of the night. After the elevator it brings him upstairs to us. Alex savidge, lets go, man. It took you four hours to go 12 miles from berkeley to oakland . Coming right at us. This is a live picture, everybody. We are seeing you and loving you, alex. The last leg of my journey. [ applause ] the helmet will not come off. A bad case of helmet hair. Oh, the hair is always a primary concern. Whats going on . Thank you very much. I appreciate it. What did you think . I had a great time. I mean, i had a blast. I had an absolute blast. I got a great workout in. Met a lot of great people. Had some pancakes . Exactly. Snacks along the way. You know, got that great workout. Its invigorating. There is something nice about waking up in the morning and getting out on the road and biking in. You have the fresh breeze in your face. What is something that you didnt expect out there . From a safety standpoint, we are always doing these stories about bicyclists and the safety issues they face, i tell you, i realized how vulnerable you are on a bike out there. You know, you dont realize it when you are always in a car, which i truly am. I did this today to experience what this is like. Youre vulnerable. There are so many hazards. So many dangers out there. Is your head on a swivel most of the way . Mine was. Left, right, behind you . Always looking. Is this door gonna open . Thats what bicyclists face on a daily basis. Do you feel that people who do this become a community on their own . Absolutely. All of these people are part of this community. They are pumped up. Did you get that vibe . Absolutely. Those are my biking friends. [ laughter ] no, youre absolutely right. There was a few points t neat. I was biking through oakland coming down grand and bicyclists pass by, hey, how you doing . I dont know them. But it feels like a community. What i will point out is a lot of the folks we see today, they bike to work on a regular basis. So every day is bike to work day for them. But what happens is you get a lot of the newcomers like myself who get out there and do it today, when you got the free snacks and all the energizer stations and all the love and the support out there, and then but a lot of people, the Bike Coalition folks say a lot of people stick with it, which is fantastic. If you didnt have to be at work in the middle of the night, which you do, would you consider biking . You do live in berkeley. Yeah, under ten miles i think from berkeley to jack london square. Its not that far really. And its a nice ride. Probably turn this off. We have to let you go, apparently. The only reason i wouldnt bike to work is helmet hair. I wouldnt even dare to take this thing off. You could have it on all day. Its going to stay on all day. Thank you so much. It was a joy watching your progress through mornings on 2. Appreciate it. Nice job. Switching to San Francisco city streets, a big San Francisco sinkhole that closed down a busy street is tentatively scheduled to be fixed by sunday. They will hold a News Conference scheduled to start in an hour in front. Mission police station. They held a Hunger Strike for 17 days to protest San Francisco officerinvolved shootings and demand the removal of police chief greg suhr. The five demonstrators ended their strike last saturday and were hospitalized. Today they will discuss the next stage in their protest. Four San Francisco supervisors are echoing those activists call for the police chief greg suhr to step down. Supervisors jane kim, david campos, john avalos, and eric mar are the first toplevel city officials to call for the chiefs resignation. Jane kim says chief suhr has been a great officer for the past 30 years but that Police Reforms need to come pastor. Mayor ed lee and other supervisors including mark farrell are standing with the chief. He has done an amazing job in a very, very difficult time for our Police Department. He served our city over 30 years. From my perspective there is no one better to lead our Department Going forward especially with all the reforms that are coming down the pike than chief suhr himself. At this point our loyalty should be to the rank and file officers of the Police Department and to the people of San Francisco. And we need someone who can lead. Earlier this week their ed lee announced he wants to spend 17 million on Police Reforms as part of the citys budget. Suhr can only be fired by the mayor or the police commission. There were some hurdles like how to put a dog out when every door is looked. Some people were skeptical. Once it started, everyone fell in love with it very quickly. My responsibility. Learning new things. Probably be a changing point in my life. Reporter inmates apply and are screened for a selection as handlers. Thought it was a good way to give back to the community and do something positive for once thats gonna make me feel good about myself and make others feel good about me. Turn. Turn. Neville turn. Reporter these dogs require patience. Something inmates may not have starting out. Stay. Reporter but they are learning life skills, too. I teach them about using positive reinforcement. And that doesnt just work with dogs. I have had inmates say to me, wow, what you are telling me would work for my kids, too. A companion to be with us, you know . I started the tour as a swing and an understudy in our original lola, kyle, left the tour and i reauditioned and they gave me the opportunity to take over full time. You had a closet of wigs and shoes personally that you hadnt even told your pastor father about. Right. Until this role happened. Talk to me about that. Yeah, my dad is a pastor in North Carolina. He is an educator, ph. D. In history and philosophy. When i got the show he said, you know, its fun. You get to imitate drag queens. Just dont bring any wigs home. We were talking about how this play, you know, may not be the first thing that a lot of the men in the newsroom would say, i want to see this. Explain why this is a play for everybody. It has a heart and a message for everyone. Its just about being who you are and love and acceptance. Because you really do change the world when you change your mind. I was talking earlier today about its fun seeing those men in the audience who come and that are dragged by their wives, and by the end of the show they are dancing and clapping and whooping and hollering because its a fun show. We want to be loved and accepted and understood for what makes us different. To go back to that conversation with your dad, was there an emotional struggle at that time in your North Carolina days . It definitely was a journey. We simply sat down and had an adult conversation and i expressed to him that drag for me was an art form and i enjoyed being in control of this thing that i have created. And i just like to affect peoples lives in a medium that is unexpected. I am 64 out of drag. You dont expect a 64 guy to be a pretty lady. You have been doing drag before . Six years now. Do you think that helped . Absolutely. Its definitely played a major part in my journey with kinky boots. You had a lot of support in the audience last night. A lot of whopping and hollering. I wonder what happens when you take local a lola to cities that arent as accept . They dont know what to expect because a lot of them are season ticket holders. By the end of the show they realize its about acceptance and love. Its a big party. We want the audiences to dance and sing along and clap and join the party that we are having on stage. Speaking of the music, cindi lauper music, which a lot of us know, i havent seen the play yet. Sound like i might want to with all these good songs. The music is fantastic. There are brassie moments like sex is in the heels the blue outfit and hold me in your heart that pull in your heartstrings. At one point growing up it was a moment maybe in your life that said this is what i want to do. This is musical theater and its in my blood. What moment was that that you decided to do this for a career . In high school i was in show choir and marching band. I always sung. I grew up in church singing. I knew that i had do something that made me happy. My dad said if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. I decided i had to start on stage. This is your biggest role . It is. I have worked on cruise ships and worked at tokyo diey. But this has been a life changing experience. What is that sitting out in the audience and saying, wow, i have made it . This is the top for me. This top role here . I have to pinch myself every day because doing it full time is just it really is a dream come true. I am grateful for the opportunity really. A lot of people and i reflect on the decision by the Supreme Court less than year ago now, and i remember when news broke that morning that gay marriage was legal across the country. We talked to a lot of gay people in their 50s, 60s, 70s, who said they never dr. They would see the day never dreamt they would see the day that gay marriage would be legal. What is it like for you to be groundbreaking with a show like this at 26 years old . Its amazing. A lot of times we are in cities at very pertinent times. We were in oklahoma while they were having legislation issues with their Lbgt Community and we happened to be in hartford, connecticut last year when that was passed. And it was its very magical. We get the opportunity to touch youth across america, which is amazing, which cindi laupers true colors foundation. We do a lot of q as with those youth. And it is definitely an opportunity that is its hard to put into words how magical it is that i get the opportunity to affect so many peoples lives. I know you are working here.
