You have been working with the Makeawish Foundation and nominating kids in the district, you know, for several years now. What was it about olivias story here . Here is olivia, 13 years old, in eighth grade, diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma. Share what you have here in your hands. Ive been working on raising money for Makeawish Foundation through a letter writing campaign. One of my students brought this in. This is a hero project i have the kids to every year back in november. When she brought this in and talking about this little girl with hodgkins, i said, who is this . I need to know her. I contacted her mother and asking her if she would allow me to nominate her for a wish remember when i spoke to her, i fell in love with her over the phone, such a grade personality and wonderful spirit, and i said, would you be okay if we did a community rally and just kind of honored your journey and have you share your story and have other people get to know Makeawish Foundation in our community. She was so willing and her mother said it was okay. Thats why were doing it and moving forward. Reporter olivia, tell me about your journey. You are in eighth grade. You love playing softball. You were just diagnosed in november . Yes. It was kind of a shock. I didnt expect it at all. It was something that was out of nowhere. It didnt really it was shocking, and i didnt expect it. It came out of nowhere. Reporter you just finished some chemotherapy. What are the doctors telling you now . They said that my recovery is going really well. I finished radiation a week from today and they are really impressed by how ive been doing and they said, you know, im cancerfree so, yeah reporter what is your wish . It was to go on a caribbean Disney Cruise with my family so we can get relaxation and have fun. Reporter were waiting to see if that comes through. How do you feel about this, trying to raise money and make awareness about cancer . Im so thankful for her. Im excited for the rally tomorrow and i cant wait. Its nerveracking, kind of. I can tell you that doing basic vehicle maintenance is actually pretty easy and it will save you money and keep you safe on the roads. And few tips to share today. Go for it. Whats your number one tip . Well, ive got three. Basically we all want to avoid being towed. So we have the acronym, t for ties, o for oil, and w for wiper blades lets start with tires. Make sure your tires are at the right inflation. You can find the number incident the drivers door or in the owners manual. Dont go by the number on the tire because its the maximum number. Check your pressure before wrong road trips, do it once a month, and always in the morning when the tires are cool. This is a tire pressure gauge, a basic one, a few dollars at any auto part stores. Most gas stations have them. Checking it is easy. Put the gauge on the valve stem and get your reading. If anything, you will have to add air to the fires. You might have to take air away. You can do that at the local gas stations. Bring a few quarters. The engine compartment, the most important part of your vehicle. It needs oil to run efficiently. Kick your oil after every few fillups. Make sure the engine is off and the engine compartment is cool. You find the dip stick in the oil reservoir, pull it out and wipe with it a towel. Put it back in the reservoir. Take it out again. Look at the reading falling between the minimum and maximum line. It should be somewhere in the middle. If the oil level is too close to the minimum line or below it, you need more oil. Add oil according to your owners manual, what does it say about the oiled you need for your ride avoid overfilling, so do it in increments. The last one, you want to see out of your windshield, so make sure your wiper blades are always in good condition, swapping they out is easy and totally affordable. Pull the Assembly Like this, squeeze the bottom of the blade, pull the rubber blade out and put the new one back in, as easy as that.
