Min thes. We are continue to following the search for the missing 5yearold berkeley girl, Police Believe she is with her mother. K9s have been out there, we are going to talk about what they have been able to track, what direction they might be going in. And we are going to talk about this weekends investigation into that scary situation at sfo, critical interviewings being conducted, we are talking about the air flight. It was a scary couple of moments at sfo with a very very close call between that flight and a busy taxi way that had four full planes on it, who investigators are planning to talk to and it is going to be hot hot hot hot a heat advisory expanded. How hot . Where is it going to get hot, rosemary on that screen behind you. Magenta. Yes, especially for the inner east bay going over hundreds. Heat advisory starts at 8 00, runs through the weekend for our hills as well as the inner east bay, a look over San Francisco where we have a little bit of fog this morning, not expected to last too long, temperatures will begin to rebound. Well take a look at this heat advisory for the north bay hills, Santa Cruz Mountains, east bay not only the diablo range, weve got the valley included. So from areas like livermore, pleasanton, san ramon, 680 for danville. Stretches over towards concord and over towards highway 4, antioch, brentwood, discovery bay. Vallejo and into fairfield. This is where we are looking at some heat for the afternoon. Most areas for in land cities going to near 100 some of us above. What this means is, if you are outdoors take it easy, keep an eye on your little ones, pets, drink plenty of water because it will create illness. Here is a look at the fog from you bop where we have it in around at coast. Coastline and into santa cruz, the winds are on shore but very week, fairfield reporting at 8 Miles Per Hour there. 55 degrees right now to start the morning in San Francisco. Upper 50s in oakland. Low 60s livermore and 64 in brentwood. 101 concord, livermore and antioch. Closer to the water it is going to be a warm day, 83 hayward, 774 in San Francisco, and a nice 72 in pacifica, if you want to escape the heat head west. We have a cooling trend be the extended forecast i will show you that coming up. Well happening now, a crash is affecting traffic in oakland just south of the coliseum and oracle arena. A big rig hauling a lot of dirt overturned on south 80, christian kafton arrived at the scene and joining us now live with on update, christian. Reporter yeah, this is going to be a rough morning anybody who is trying to make their way to the airport, heading southbound on 880, so you can see what chp is dealing with here, can you see there is this big rig overturned, dumps its load of dirt blocking 1, 2 and 3 lanes which means at this point here right as you go past the can i will see coliseum. You can see what happen here, you can see tire marks on the road, it appears this truck may have gone off the road, perhaps over corrected and dumped its load here, what that means for all these people who are traveling southbound on 880 is a major backup. As we swing around you can see the line of cars as the five lanes goes down to just two lanes, and we have our traffic cam to give you sense of what the traffic is going to look like, southbound on 880, it is going to be a very long commute for you or a long ride in particular, keep in mind that hegginberger exit, used to get off to go to Oakland International airport, if you are flying out, picking anybody up from a flight you are going to want to try to check alternate routes in ticket oak port access road that runs just to the west of 880 southbound might be an option to try to route your way around this. Coming back to our camera here, actually on 880 you can see that what crews are going to have to deal with is getting the big rig backup on its wheels, towing it out and then trying to get the dirt out of the one and two lanes here, those are the lanes that are on the right side of the freeway as you are traveling southbound. We did see an earth mover that was coming here to the scene, unclear if that earth move are is going to be rolled up on to 880 and then used to try to move that dirt off to the side. So we are going to try to talk to chp to get a sense what they are going to have to do, get the big rig on its wheels and move the dirt so the traffic can move smoothly. If you are traveling on 880 southbound it is going to be a long wait as traffic goes down from five lanes to just two right here at the coliseum. And the airport like you mentioned, if you are flying out of oakland, stay off 880, there is a number of ways to get to the airport, probably not the bast right now. Absolutely. Anybody who does have that flight, if you are going to be traveling to the airport, you are going to have to factor in more time than you ordinarily would because if you are coming in from say berkeley or from the north bay or some place like that, you are traveling on southbound 880, its going to be jammed up. You may want to go up 13 and some down seminary. Another thing we are looking at a traffic map, it just shows red red red all through there as weve seen from the live pictures as well. I think weve seen indents like this when they are not having even flipped the truck up yet, we are still a good amount of time out from resolveing that for traffic resolving this for traffic. Reporter started around 6 12 with first reports of it. That is almost an hour and they still have not gotten the truck up on the wheels, do that safely. An process of getting that dirt off the roadway so it could be an hour, perhaps more. We are hoping to talk with chp to get a sense of the time line. Do you smell fuel . That can also cause a problem if there is any kind of hazmat situation. Reporter dont smell any fuel, it doesnt appear that the fuel tanks ruptured. You can so the fuel tank on the bottom of that see the fuel tank on the bottom of that truck. We dont smell diesel, we dont see wet pavement or wet dirt. So it appears that the fuel tanks are intact which as you said could add a dimension to this. They are going to have to get the dirt off the roadway. Well the good news is, its not a weekday because that would really jam up the commute in a big way, it is a Big Inconvenience going to the airport or heading down south 880 on 0 saturday. Well check in a little bit later. Closer to the by a bay a warm day. 74 in the city of San Francisco, 74 pacifica. Nice beach weather for the afternoon in the south bay 90, san jose and north bay santa rosa hit 100. I will detail this coming up. Rosemary, and we continue to follow this developing story on interstate 880 in oakland, traffic starting up this big rig hauling dirt overturned. Yeah, it overturned, it happened just south of the coliseum, christian kafton on scene, it looks like progress since we chatted with you last, christian. Yeah, major progress already, frank. You can see the big changes is that the big rigs that overturned here right around 6 12 this morning has been towed away. But there is still a major problem here as you can see spread across the 4 and lanes of 880 southbound at come i will see crumb, a major pile of dirt. We are understanding that a crew is going to come out to retry to remove it. Impact meanwhile is that traffic. South bound on 880 is severely impacted as traffic goes from 5 lanes down to just two lanes. So, they are advising minute who is southbound on 880 take that into account. That is going to impact anybody who is going to becoming to the Oakland International airport. If you have a flight, if you have somebody that you need to pick up at the airport and planning on coming through 880 southbound, keep in mind that traffic is going to be very slow. We do have overhead shot of camera, Traffic Camera shot to show you what it looks like out here so you can see for yourself, it means that there is a major impact while crews still work to clean this truck up now. We wound up an interview with a chp officer, he said they got multiple call from people at 61 00 this morning, big rig overturned on the road. Can you see that big rig was carrying a load of dirt, the dirt overturned here on the road for awhile, the big rig was blocking the four and five lane. The number three lane is also blocked as there is debris there and it gives the crews out here a safe area in which to work. So, the big rig has been hauled away, we are now waiting on that cal trans crew to arrive to actually try to bull dose some of this dirt to get it off the side of the road to make it safe for people to travel along this area. The major impact anybody heading south bound on 880, there is a major slow down while crews a, keep these lanes closed off. And b, are going to need to push that dirt off the road and work to clear the roadways. So at this point in time, no estimate from chp on how long it is going to be until they get all lanes of 880 southbound reopened. Back to you frank and claw dean. Christian, claudine. Christian, do we know if anyone else is involved, its a big truck. Reporter that is under investigation. Amazingly the chp officer tells me there were no accidents. As we look back, ryan and i were looking here, we can see that there is evidence of where this all happened. You can see where it appears the truck went off the road and then came back on to the road perhaps over correcting, can you see some marks on the asphalt. You can see where it overturned. At this point chp says that they have there is a quote, conflicting reports about what happened. The incident still trying to get an idea exactly what caused this accident to happen. No citations, no real obvious signs of what exactly caused this accident. And no clear signs that anybody was intoxicated or anything like that. How about the driver, is he okay . Reporter yeah, no injuries. We saw them interviewing a gentleman who we presumed to have been the driver. That individual is now no longer here. But,. That is good news. Reporter the officers we spoke with said nobody injured. Especially when you see a big rig, the potential for injury clearly there. How much dirt does that look like . Dirt is heavy, it can an pain to move and take a long time, its hard for us to figure out kind of how much dirt we are talking about, thanks, ryan, ryan reporter ryan getting download to give you sense. You know, its about maybe 20 or 30 yards is the entire length of this spill. About 6 inches deep. So we are talking about easily a ton of dirt here. And we can see actually as we look to our left, over here you can see that chp just now starting to thick their measurements of of the actual scene here. This is part of the process trying to figure out exactly how this spill happened, claw dean. Take away claudilen. The three, four, five lanes are reopened. Never going to have a back and a dump truck. At least its not gravel or hat matt situation which would be a mess. Christian thank you for a live report in oakland right by the come i will see crumb. So bring that layer, extra layer just in case you need it by the end, giving you view at the extended forecast, where along the coast and around the bay temperatures wont change a lot especially if the sea breeze kicks in, inland cities takes an extra day before they start to feel it, we do begin a cooling trend though as we get into the business week with temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s for inland communities, that will be a relief, we are not going to see the long stretch. A beautiful shot of the bay bridge this morning. Traffic moving along. That bridge, just fine. We have some traffic problems were watching for you on the 880. As you can see there, hazy out there as well. Not crystal clear. It will be hot. A warm one today. I say warm. The reality is hot. It is going to be hot. Welcome to mornings on 2. Saturday, july 15. Im Claudine Wong. It is still the weekend. That is a good thing. Good morning. Everyone. Im frank mallicoat. We have more on the hot weather in a moment but first more on the truck that overturned causing problems on 880. Making progress. Hauling dirt. Southbound 880. And it overturned. Spilled all that dirt out there. And that is right in front of the oracle arena. You can see the signs there to the left. And the coliseum. Bulldozers are making some quick work out there. That is good to see. They had to upright the truck and toe it away. Tow it away and five lanes reduced to two. A lot of problems out there. And even when they get this cleared up, it does take a while for traffic to get back to normal. Even on a saturday morning. So weve got christian with us at the scene and a live report in a few minutes. We are talking about sfo this morning, because ntsb investigators are planning to conduct some critical interviews, trying to track down what exactly happened with that air canada flight. And they need to. Because it was a very scary situation. A couple of moments at sfo. With very close call. Between a flight that was trying to land on a very busy taxiway. More on who investigators are planning to talk to, this week. And it is going to be as they say, back east, wicked hot today. Wicked hot. Crazy hot. Heat advisory that has just been expanded, around the bay area. And i feel like, in some ways, we are getting used to this. Because now, i have seen triple digits more often than i would like, but this heat advisory is so important for people to remember. Even though were used to it, this is the place where people can kind of get sick and get heat stroke and things like that. And that is really what it is for it. Is a reminder. We all know we have to drink more water and stay indoor, especially during the afternoon part of the day. When the temperatures are at their hottest. But just a little reminder for you. It starts this morning and goes through the weekend. And as a reminder, to take care of your pets and watch over little ones as i have been told by expert, have them drink water every half hour, even, even when they say they are not thirsty. That helps to keep them hydrated. A look at where the advisory is in place, over our hills, north bay hills, Coastal Range, down through the sant cruz mountains. And hills not getting much recovery. In fact, was just looking at los gatos, 2,000 feet up in the hills. 80 degrees already at this hour. So not a lot of recovery going on. If we have some wind out there, we would have a red flag warning for sure. The east bay, it includes our hills and our valley locations be so anywhere within this shade of orange here, from orinad, stretching along 680. 580, highway 4, into the sacramento val limit i can go farther north, i80, and vallejo, and into fairfield. Youve got it there as well. So again just a reminder there. Very hot weather coming our way for the next couple of days. A look at the fog that remains right along the coastline. We have a great beach day coming our way with. 70s in the forecast. For stinson beach. Pacifica for the afternoon and the onshore breeze not gone completely. Fairfield reporting 9 Miles Per Hour. Sot localized sea breeze will keep the coast comfortable. And inside the bay. But our inland city, 9 miles an hour. And onshore breeze. That will not help you out any. 64 in napa right now. And 57 in santa rosa. San francisco checking in at 60. Along the peninsula, we have 60s. Low 60s for the east bay. Fremont. And 69 degrees right now reported in brentwood. And temperatures climbing very fast. 67maraga. And 68 in antioch. And 68 for danville. Afternoon highs for today, low 100s. For the inner east bay. In the north bay, santa rosa, you will go to 100. In the south bay, 90 degrees expected for san jose. And 80s around the bay and 74 in San Francisco. And trying to escape the heat. Head to the coast. A beautiful 72 in pacifica for the afternoon today. And the temperatures even slightly hotter for some tomorrow. Before we cool it down. We have a look at the extended forecast coming up. Thanks so much, rosemary. And happening now, traffic moving very slowly this morning on interstate 880 in oakland. After a big rig hauling dirt overturned. But it is getting better, it happened just south of the coliseum and oracle arena, causing that backup. And our christian captain is ak the scene with quite a is at the scene with quite a bit of progress since the last half hour, i guess, right . Caltrans is trying to motor through this as quickly as possible. As you can see, they have an earth mover out here trying to work to get that dirt actually off the roadway. Now that the truck has been towed away, the big step now is to get this dirt off the road. Out of the three, four, and five lanes. To allow 880 southbound to return to the full five lanes heading south. But go to the traffic cam, so you can see what that means for anybody who is heading south, on 880. And that means major backups. Keep in mind that this is going to affect you in particular heading toward oakland airport. If you have a flight or picking somebody up, and are you going to be heading on southbound 880, you might want to think about the alternate route. Simply because there is a large traffic backup. We have video of what it looked like earlier as we lay out how chp say the accident happened. They say around 6 12 this morning. A big rig hauling dirt was headed on southbound 880. And it appears that it momentarily went off on to the righthand shoulder. Overcorrected. And then dumped its load into the four and five lanes. And they had to close down the three, four, and five lanes. The three right lanes of the freeway. Because there was so much debris. And that truck was blocking the way. They are doing investigation right now but for anybody driving through the area, you need to be careful and cautious as you drive through. We want to make sure everyone going through the area is going through safely. Slowly. And make sure people stay off their cell phones and not have any other secondary collisions as a result. Now, as you can see, more caltrans equipment being moved into position in particular. That sweeper that just rolled through. You might have heard that loud swishing sound as it was going through. Because this is a step by step process. They have to first use the earth moveer to get as much dither off the roadway as possible and use the sweeper to get as much debris off the roadway as possible. And we have seen also a water truck. They might be trying to spray some of the mud down and try to make sure that the road is as clear of debris as possible. They certainly dont want any rocks or anything flung up toward cars as they travel through and causing yet another accident on this stretch of road. Still no exact eta on how long it will take. All five lanes of southbound 880 to be reopened at this hour. Frank and claudine . Pretty impressive though. They got that cleaned up pretty quickly within the hour, they got the truck upright and it looks like most of the dirt is gone already, too. Exactly right, frank. Once they were able to get every piece of equipment they needed into place, it goes like clock work, so to speak. You can see that earth mover, again, making short work of tons of dirt that were out on the roadway. And about half of the dirt has already been pushed into that pile, and pushed into that big blue truck. So it is just a matter of time until they can get the majority of the dirt up there and then either the sweeper or the pressure washer trucks, coming on through, clear off the road and get the road reopened as quickly as possible. Thank you. Live at 880 in oakland, thanks. And now to the search for a missing little girl in the east bay. We did just check with Berkeley Police. They are still looking for the child who they say was taken by her mother, her mother is homeless and suffers from what they are calling diminished capacity. Here are the photo. This is 5yearold maya lea booker on the left. Africanamerican. About 4 feet tall. A thin build. She has brown eyes. And brown short hair in twists. And then there is her mother, 34yearold laquita davis. 58. 172 pounds. Brown eyes and brown braided hair. Maya leas father has custody. The mother does not. The grandparents had her when davis showed up and took her and last seen on prince street near the ashby bart station. And they brought canines and those canines were able to pick up a scent that took them to the bart station. Mom doesnt drive. And doesnt have a home address. And right now, at least we have two dogs indicating that there is a strong likelihood that they got on bart. Now, Berkeley Police do not think maya lea is actually in danger. They say davis has taken her away before and the girl was not harmed. Berkeley is working with bart police to review Surveillance Video. Time now is 8 11. This weekend, investigators may start to interview pilots and air Traffic Controllers about the air canada flight that almost landed on a busy taxi way. There were four jets full of passengers waiting to take off when this happened. The report found that the air canada flight crew had asked about the sfo tower about lights that were not supposed to be on the runway and the mistake was caught in time and the plane circled back and landed safely with 140 people on board. And if we can think about what we can do with these dead trees, we can help fund some of the removal of these trees. According to pg e, the drought around bark beetle infestations is having a devastation on the california forests and the Forest Industry says they removed more than 230,000 dead trees last year alone. 8 17. Over to rosemary to find out about our hot weekend. Yes, it is going to be a hot one inland especially. At the coast, we have some beautiful weather coming our way. We are looking at 70s in pacifica. And 80s for areas right around santa cruz. But you go inland, and the temperatures are expected to hit about 100 degrees. In areas like antioch and brentwood today. And even in the north bay of santa rosa, going to be hot, hot, hot. Giving you a look here at the Golden Gate Bridge. And just a little bit of fog to speak of out there. And we should see that pull back as we get into the second part of the morning and early part of the afternoon. And for the coast, it has been generally cool. So finally going to get in on some nice weather for you. And if you are just chine joining us, the heat advisory for the far hills and the east bay for today, here is what it is happening. The monsoonal moisture continues to drift our way from the desert southwest. Yesterday, in and around lake tahoe, a slight chance for thunderstorms. We are not going to see any of that. We could see mid and high level clouds sort of sweep across the bay area a little bit today. And that will be about it. And also, watching this system here. That will move a little bit closer to the coast as we get into monday. And that is going to cool us down. Between now and then, it is going to be a hot one. If you are going to tahoe for the weekend, beautiful weather expected for you there. Low 50s to start the morning. Low to mid80s expected in the afternoon with mostly sunny skies. And no thunderstorms in the forecast for tahoe. And look at the temperatures here at home, starting out at Half Moon Bay. 54 degrees. And low 60s in San Francisco. And east bay shore, 64 in oakland. And mid to upper 60s for the inner east bay. And 65 in livermore. And 69 in brentwood. And temperatures will again begin to take off as the sun is up and the temperatures are rebounding fairly quickly. Started off the morning very similar to yesterday morning. But already looking at numbers beginning to warm in areas like novato, santa rosa and napa. Reporting five degrees warmer than 24 hours ago. I do expect by the afternoon, five to 10 degrees warmer than where we landed yesterday. And here is a look at the afternoon highs. In sonoma for today, 100 degrees. And 9 a in petaluma. Close 95 in petaluma. Closer to the water. Nice and mild. 75 sausalito. 79 in berkeley. 80 degrees in oakland. And low 100s, pittsburg, antioch, brentwood, in the livermore area. And south bay, 86. Partly cloudy skies. The ex tended forecast here, we are expecting that sea breeze to pick up just a little bit for tomorrow. Along the coast, and just inside the bay, we may begin to fill, that but the inland cities, no such luck. Just as hot, maybe even hotter for the inner east bay. As we get into monday, we begin to see a nice turnaround with temperatures falling back to the seasonal average. Upper 80s, low 90 s for the inland cities. And still skiing up at tahoe. Squaw i think had 12 runs open. Still open . Really . And five chair lifts. I thought they were done on the fourth of july. They were open this week. Goodness gracious. There you go. Good morning, everybody. A beautiful shot of San Francisco. High atop, looking down on the city there. With that erie little fog bed out there on the bay. That will soon be blown away. On what will be a pretty hot day around the bay. Good to have you with us. 8 30 on a saturday. Im frank mallicoat. Good morning to you. Im Claudine Wong. Lets talk about that weather. A little hazy out there. But that just tells us that it is about to burn away, and be hot, hot, hot. Is there any place to escape it, i guess is the question . I would say head to the coast for sure. 70s. We actually have some nice beach weather coming our way, for the weekend. And we do have, the heat on inland. And there is a heat advisory. You can see here. Going on through sunday. A heat advisory in effect for the Santa Cruz Mountains as well as the big sur area. This was expanded into the east bay. And the north bay hills. The other day. And then this morning, they decided to expand it a little bit farther. But for most areas, it is the hills and the east bay. It includes our valley locations as well. Tomorrow, this will expire. Right about 9 00. Temperatures could reach 105 degrees or more. By sunday. And so we will be tracking that for you, outside our doors at this hour from, San Francisco, looking across the bay, we have a little bit of fog out there but not going to last. Mostly sunny skies. Even at the coastline, partly cloudy to mostly clear for today, a look at oklahoma at this hour, and oakland sitting at 64 degrees. And San Francisco 61 and upper 50s reported in santa rosa. And mid60s livermore as well as san jose. And the temperatures this morning, beginning to climb above yesterday, right now anywhere from three to five degrees warmer at this hour than we were 4 hours ago. Here is a view 24 hours ago. Here is a view of the advisory and you can see what were talking about. The north bay hills, Santa Cruz Mountains but for the east bay, it is the entire valley and hill location. So what is going on until sunday night. And as we have been talking, a little bit this morning, areas like mount diablo. And up in the hills near los gatos right about 2,000 feet. Temperatures are already in the 80s. And so some of us didnt really recover in the overnight hours. And look here at some of the cities included in this. And along highway 4, you will find it antioch stretches over to 680 and concord all the way down to 580 and beyond. And along highway 24. And orind a m araga includes there. And 74 San Francisco. 80s around the bay. Go inland and we are baking. Above 100 degrees. For concord, livermore and antioch. In the north bay, sant rosa, expected to hit the century mark as well. South bay location, 90 the afternoon high for san jose. We will begin to feel a little bit of a trickle from that sea breeze move our way. As we get into sunday. So along the coast, around the bay, not expecting much change. It could be even hotter inland. We will have a look at the extended forecast coming up. Thanks, rose mary. 8 32 on the clock. An overturned big rig hauling dirt, affected a lot of traffic on interstate 80 in oakland. And it still is. It happened just south of the coliseum. And causing a number of lanes to be shut down. Ktvu kristen captain is live at the scene with more christian captain is live at the scene with more on what is happening now that the truck and most of the dirt have been hauled away. Reporter yes, frank and claudine, still a major traffic impact. As they are still working to clean up the three, four, and five lanes here on 880 southbound. You can see we have been moishting their progress this morning. Monitoring their progress this morning. You can see how much progress they have made from having an overturned truck and dirt on the roadway now to the truck being removed and most of the dirt removed as well. You can see the blue truck in the distance. You can see how much dirt we are talking about. The whole back of the truck filled with the dirt that had filled the four and five lanes here on 880 southbound. We have video of what it looked like earlier. When that truck went over, at around 6 12 this morning. Chp says that truck went over on to its side. And dumped its load. And it blocked the two right most lanes on southbound 880. And right now, they say the investigation as to how that accident happened is still under way. We have some conflicts between statements of what has occurred. As far as alcohol and drugs, it does not appear to be a factor. And no citations as of right now. Now, while that investigation is under way, the cleanup process is under way. Which means that there is still a major traffic impact for anybody traveling on 880 southbound. We have a traffic cam to give you a sense, so you can get a sense of just how much traffic were talking about. Keep in mind were talking about five lanes of 880 southbound. And now restricted down to just two lanes. Which means that if you are traveling southbound, on 880, in particular, if youre headed toward the oakland airport, keep in mine, it is going to impact your trip. That is, if you have a flight out or picking anybody up from the airport, factor that in, and try to look for alternate routes and chp asking anybody who is driving lieu in the area to stay off of their driving through the area to stay off of their cell phones and they dont want to see secondary zens while trying to clean up after the first accident that happened around 6 12 this morning. And cleanup efforts still under way. Theyre anticipating having it done officially soon but no official time when they will open up all five lanes of 80 southbound at this point. At least it is a weekend and not a weekday because that would have been a mess during the commute. Christian, thank you, live on 880, thanks. Now to southern california. Surveillance video shows the man dropping the dog off in front the shelter dogs there and the shelter is hoping to locate that man in order to learn more about the dogs condition, and to health history. The animal was also left overnight without any food or water. The trial for the undocumented immigrant accused of shooting and killing a woman on the San Francisco pier has been postponed. Thank you. Time now is 8 43. Happening today, the annual fundraiser known as cover your canine kicks off at pet Food Express Stores today. We told you about it last week. The fundraiser helps to pay for bullet proof vests and police dogs and emergency medical training for their handlers, and alarms for police guards. Here is how it works. If you take your pet to a pet Food Express Store to be washed today or tomorrow, all of the money will be donated to cover your canine. Pet food express donated more than 160,000 to cover your canine last year. All right. It is summer time. And if youre planning on taking a trip with your pet, it would be wise to prepare your fourlegged friends. Number one, on the list, remember to never leave your pet in your vehicle. There are laws about leaving a pet in a hot car. We will join Claudine Wong who is with chp officer john franzen to tell us what you should do if you encounter a pet in a hot car. Claudine, take it away. Yes, lots of people like to go lots of places with their pets and thats great. But certainly a safe way to do that. We have chp offices with us for some tips. We will talk about what happens if you see a dog locked in a hot car and you want to get them out. First lets talk about just kind of basic tips, we have my dog in the back of this car. And it is leo. And hey, leo. Oh, hi. He wasnt paying attention and we have some stuff, what should you do when youre driving in a car with your pet . First, you want to go on short trips first. Planning a long trip with your dog, you dont want it to be the first trip for your dog. If you can, you want to have a big crate for them so they can actually maneuver around and sit up and lay down and stand up if they need to. If that is not feasible because of the size of your car, then we just recommend that your dog is harnessed and that the harness is secured to your seatbelt. And those pet harnesses that are available, i mean leo sits there like a regular person and you can actually put a regular seatbelt on him. But with the pet harnesses, you would suggest that for any dog if theyre not in a crate. Yes. And we have things for the road. And it is good to have snacks. We recommend that people feed their dogs three hours prior to the trip but not feeding them during the trip. And if you pull alongside the road for a break, you can give them treats at that time. And recommend bottled water and they can get sick with the water found elsewhere. It is important to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated and we dont want them to be sick on the journey. You have become experts on everything. Do you see a lot of people having problems with pet, you know, traveling in the summer, and on vacations, and on the roadways, and in car, things like that . Absolutely. It is always a concern. And thats why you definitely want to plan ahead before going on a trip. And make sure the dog is secure as possible. And make sure that they dont get sick. That can be a definite distraction and not to mention inconvenient for everybody. The dog as well as the owner of the vehicle. And any pet jumping around in your car while trying to drive and youre focused not on driving, focused on them, that is a problem. Absolutely. And god forbid you go et involved in a traffic collision. You want the animal to be secure in the vehicle so it is not a projectile. Lets talk about if, lets say leo is in the car, i would never leave him in a hot car, but you are looking at him through the side window of the car, and youre thinking, you know, that dog has been in there all the windows are up, we have all of the windows up on this, and if we close this trunk, it would heat up pretty quickly, especially on a day like this with a triple digit day. Absolutely. And during 100degree day, it is this vehicle is able to get up to 172 degrees inside the vehicle. So if youre a concerned citizen and see an animal that is trapped within that vehicle, and it looks like it is too hot and dehydrating and no water and what not, 43. 100 allows a person to rescue a dog without any civil liability. So if you can break out that window to open up the vehicle and get the dog out. If the vehicle is not locked, we just want to open up the door. You can break in. I guess the question is, if im looking in a window and im thinking, i guess the dog is okay, but i dont know how long the dog is going to be okay, and at what point, you know, can i say i am making this decision now . Really, it is the person, it is the concerned citizens discretion. So they are taking in the entirety of the situation. And if they dont feel that they can get animal control or Law Enforcement immediately over to help that dog, they can break in, and they can take that dog to a safe location. It is a judgment call. Yes. But they need to maintain, like i said, they need to maintain their proximity to that vehicle and they definitely need to call 911 if they wind up breaking into the vehicle. Do you get a lot of calls like that . Luckily, we havent had a ton. And we hope that we dont. Really we are hopeful that pet owners will be responsible to remember that their pet is in the vehicle, and they wont allow their pet to be in that situation. This is not a good day to have your pet in the car waiting for you. Hey, leo, come on. He is like, i want to get out. Get out. There you go. Good boy. Come here. Sit down. Good boy. Well, thanks, leo. Shake. Thank you for your participation. Thank you. Thank you. Very nice. Frank, back to you. All right, leo is a rock star, man. Good stuff. Well, lets kick it over whoa. And the train just went by, too. All right. Lets kick it over to rosemary now and get your forecast. How about leo . So cute. I know. Shook the hand. Came out. Knows his manners. He has been hanging out in the newsroom for the last couple of hours and made himself right at home. Very sweet. Going to take him home. Steal him from claudia. Dont tell her. The sea breeze, a look at the possibility tomorrow afternoon, lighter around the coast and the bay side communities shall dropping the numbers just a tad. And meanwhile, the inner east bay is expected to climb above 100 degrees. Remaining there. It could be the hottest day of the week. As we get into the extended forecast, the cooling trend really kicks into gear. And we are looking at upper 80s, low 90s for the inland cities for the start of the business week. It is not a long stretch of hot weather but two days is enough. Two days is enough. And we lift up squaw valley. Yes. We are actually looking at one run, and three lifts. Yes. Earlier this morning a truck overturned around 6 00 this morning carrying a lot of dirt. It overturned on the highway. Here it is. This is what it looked like before. It is very lose to being all cleaned up. That is good news. Because traffic has been backed up since about 6 00 this morning. When this all first happened. And people have been trying to find ways around that area. We have christian captain there at the scene. We will check in with him in a moment. And the continuing search for a missing 5yearold girl from berkeley. Police do believe she is with her mother. We will tell you where she was last seen in the east bay and what Police Canines have been able to track down. More on that coming up. And this weekend, ntsb investigators are planning to conduct some critical interviews. They are trying to really track down exactly what happened with that air canada flight, coming in to sfo. That was a scary few moments at sfo. A very close call between that flight and a busy taxi way. We will talk about who the investigators are planning to talk to today, and tomorrow. And so more on that coming up. But we also are still talking about the weather. The heat. Yes. Hot, hot, hot. Yes. As we get into the afternoon. The temperatures are going to soar. 100 degrees. Even a little bit above. For some of our hotter spots. Meanwhile at the coast, it is going to be a Beautiful Day. So depending on how you like it, you do have your choices today. And with that, we have a heat advisory for some. Giving you a live look over the east bay, and in those hills, it is where we do have the advisory. And for our valley locations, as well. And for the inner east bay. Again, the temperatures are going to be very, very toasty. Here is a look at where we do expect that hot, hot weather to be. And where it is just a reminder for folks to take it easy out there. So you notice in the north bay, it is in the hills, saptd Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Cruz Mountains and the Coastal Range and in the hills. We get into the east bay, and it is not only the hills, it is our valley locations, as well. So along 680, 580, highway 24. And highway 4, and stretches up toward vallejo, so we are going to include i80 as well. And goes all the way through the sunday. And not going to expire until 9 00 at night. And the temperatures right now, 56 in San Francisco. And 65 in oakland. And 70 in walnut creek. And 69 degrees in livermore. So our inland cities, as expected, really beginning to rebound. And a fast way. And 69 already in san jose. And i want to take you into areas, just about 2,000 feet up. Los gatos, 82 degrees, at this hour. And where you can see saratoga is 68. So in our hills, because we have that advisory, and the overnight hours, we are not getting much recovery, if we had wind out there, we would have a red flag warning for heightened fire danger. It is still out there but no red flag warning and it has to do with the winds being light for today. And with temperature, up just by a little bit in areas over livermore and oakland and sant rosa, noticing a difference. And napa as well. A look at the afternoon highs expected for today. Santa rosa 100. In the east bay, 101 for concord, livermore, antioch. And a warm day. And low 80s for the east bay shore and upper 80s redwood city. And San Francisco, looking good at 74 and 72 with partly cloudy skies in pacifica and beautiful for you there. And temperatures continue to climb for some of the inner east bay, for tomorrow, before we begin to cool it down. I will have a look at the extended forecast for you coming up. Well, a big rig hauling dirt overturned on interstate 880 in oakland this morning. And it caused a major backup. It did, both ways. Crews have made a lot of progress cleaning up the mess. Just south of the coliseum. And oracle arena. And thats where christian captain has been all morning long. Watching all of the progress. And it is looking pretty good behind you. How is the traffic . Reporter yes, it definitely is looking much better. Keep in mine, we are three hours, almost three hours into this accident. And cleanup. And you can see, caltrans crews just finishing up the work of getting some of that dirt off the roadway. They certainly dont want any dust, dirt, or rock, flung back at cars, as they start to go through this area. There is still a major traffic impact. As you can see from the Traffic Camera, the traffic is restricted from five lanes to two lanes. The left most lanes are open. The three right most lanes are closed down. While caltrans crews continue to work on this, removing all of this dirt and clearing the scene. Lets show you video of what it looked like early this morning. The dump truck turning over on southbound 880. Just south of the heggenberger exit or just north of the exit rather. Right next to the coliseum. At 6 12 this morning. That dump truck turned over on to its side. Dumping a load of dirt on to the lanes here. And closing down the three, four, and five, the three right most lanes for hours. And crews still working to clear the roadway at this time. And advising anyone who is driving through the area to take caution. We just want to make sure that everybody going through the area is going through safely. And slowly. And making sure people stay off their cell phones. And so we dont have any other secondary collisions as a result. Now, it is starting to look like the cleanup operations are just starting to wind down. We are expecting that street cleaner to go through. We also have what looks like a water truck, or a power washer here, just to my right. So thinking that they may also wet this down, trying to make sure that they get the roadway ready for traffic to resume on all five lanes, southbound, 880. But keep in mine, if you are going to oakland airport, this could very well impact your ability, either to make a flight or go pick somebody up. And check your traffic app to see the best way to get around the traffic jam. Keep in mind the southbound 880 will be jammed up for at least 20 more minutes. Possibly as long as an hour. As the traffic starts to reopen through this area. Now, it is interesting, you put it in perspective, because 6 00, it happens and we knew it was going to be a while, and even though every single time we have come back to you, they have made quick work, it is still three hours later here, and that backup continue takes a long time to ease out. Reporter absolutely. Despite the fact that they are making short work of it, once they get out here, if youre stuck in the traffic jam, it can feel like forever as youre making your way through. And if youre catching a flight and didnt know better, oh, boy. Nothing worse than that. Thats why were advising people. Take bart. Because bart scoots over there to the coliseum. Thank you in oklahoma, on 880. We want to tell you about a similar crash happening in San Francisco. According to chp. A big rig that overturned in the city. About 40 minutes ago. And you take a look at the traffic map, you can see it is right in that area where it is all red. Because that is exactly just what happens when all of this goes down. This is an onramp that is blocked on northbound interstate 280. At Caesar Chavez. That truck was hauling metal debris and tree trimmings. That spilled on the highway. Caltrans has brought in a sweeper to remove the debris, just like 880. No word when the onramp will reopen. We are learning more about thursdays Small Plane Crash in Sonoma County in the north bay. A federal judge in hawaii says the ban on travelers from six muslim majority countries should not exclude grandparents. Just last month, the Supreme Court allowed a scaled back version of the president s travel ban to go into effect as long as the entrants have a quote bona fide relationship to a legal resident of the u. S. The state department then excluded the grand parents from that category. Well, this morning, a team of afghan girls have arrived in america to compete in an academic robotics compe tis. The white house is reportedly backing a new plan to restrict ilLegal Immigration here in the u. S. According to politico, the bill would be similar to the one introduced in february by two conservative republican senators. There is a change to the dress code in congress. Bay area representative jackie spear led that charge to change the policy. Sleeveless tops and dresses are now allowed. Under the old rule, women were required to wear sleeves and close toe shoes and men required to wear a tie and suit jacket. And support for the change i should say came from both sides of the aisle. The decor um is important. Especially for this institution. And a dress code in the chamber and the lobby makes sense. We also dont need to bar otherwise accepted contemporary business attire. So look for a change on that soon. House Speaker Paul Ryan said the previous dress code was the same one being followed from previous house speakers and then updated that dress code for a more modern interpretation of business attire. All right. I think sleeveless, maybe some shorts, flipflops, it might be the good attire today. Because it is hot. It might be appropriate. Appropriate. If youre headed outside. For today. As well as tomorrow. And as frank has been talking about this morning, they are still skiing at squaw valley. A look at the afternoon highs for today. 100 degrees. In sonoma. And 100 for santa rosa. And novato. 95. In the forecast for you. You get close to the water, it is a nice one. 75 sausalito. And 70 degrees stinson beach. To the east bay we go, where temperatures will be warm for today. Low 80s in the forecast for san leandro. Oakland, 80 degrees. And it will still be in the 70s when the as play later today. So a gorgeous one for you there. At the coliseum. And 100 in pleasanton. And 102 for brentwood. And into the south bay, san jose, you will go to 90. And 90 for cupertino. And upper 80s in sunnyvale. For the peninsula, upper 80s, redwood city, and nice day in San Francisco, 74 expected for the afternoon high. And low 70s along that stretch. Daly city, pacifica, and Half Moon Bay. And a look at the extended forecast here, the sea breeze is expected to pick up just a little bit tomorrow. If it does, in time for the afternoon, the temperatures will cool just slightly, along the coast and around the bay. But our inland cities wont really see any relief on sunday. In fact, the inner east bay is expected to be hotter. But as we get into monday, everybody gets in on the cooldown. And the temperatures are coming back to the seasonal average with upper 80s, low 90s in the forecast, for our inland communities. Is that a high five . A question. A perm forecast going to a personal forecast going to ha toe a couple of days, what is it looking like up there . It will be nice. Taking the skis . Yes. I dont know. Bathing suit and the skis. Researchers have identified a protein that could be a possible cause for lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disorder which makes it hard for the immune system to tell the difference between healthy tissue and foreign agents and actually can make it attack the healthy tissues. In a study with animals, rheumatologists in new york identified the lack of a protein called blimp1 which caused an increase in another protein, and the result was an attack on healthy cells by the immune system, especially in female animals. The study appears in the journal nature immunology. If you work long hours, researchers say you could be increasing your risk of having a stroke. Researchers tracked nearly 85,000 people from several European Countries and looked to people who worked 55 hours or more every week and those people were 44 more likely to develop Atrial Fibrillation over a decade. And now afib as it is called is long known as a risk factor for stroke. And the study authors say more research is needed because the study cant prove that long hours alone triggered irregular heart rhythms. Virtual reality is used for gaming and therapy. And it is true. The gold gold of mind vr is therapy for patients suffering from diseases like dementia, anxiety and parkinsons. And it takes patients back to the past. And that type of Virtual Reality therapy can help calm the mind which in turn calms the effects of the diseases. Those using the Pilot Program say it is much more effective than drugs. It gives people a sense of familiarity about their past lives. Maybe before they came into this nursing home, or the Nursing Homes and we think that has a lot of value. Mind vr plans to use the results from its pilot sites to petition medicare and Insurance Companies to cover and accept its therapy. Now when you go outside and look up at the sky, what you see may not be a bird or a plane or a drone. Have you heard them. We always hear them buzzing. And the more there are, there is a greater likelihood there will be an accident. We have more about a major effort to keep that from happening. Reporter just in the last 18 months, we have registered twice as many Unmanned Aircraft than we registered all aircraft in the previous 100 years. From crop dusting, to Package Delivery. Commercial drones are about to become a part of every day life. To safely integrate vast numbers of new Unmanned Aircraft, into the nations air space, the faa is relying on assure, a group of research institutions, led by Mississippi State university. Among the questions researchers are working to answer, what happens when drones crash into people. Or suddenly fall out of the sky. We have to better understand what happens, if in fact there is some sort of a collision or an impact. We need to better understand. That but at the end of the day, this is really about avoiding that collision in the first place. Many commercial drones provide live video feeds of the flight, the faa generally requires drones to be flown in eyesight of the driver. Whether it is Package Delivery or regardless of what it is, almost every truly useful application of the technology is beyond the line of sight. The technology is way ahead of the regulations. It is just a matter of figuring out how to integrate the drones into the air space. Commercial drones will inject 82 billion in the economy and create 100,000 u. S. Jobs by the year 2025 according to the trade group. And while the Companies Investing in unmanned flight are eager to reap the economic benefits, Industry Leaders and regulators agree the advanced Safety Research is crucial to prevent crowded skies from turning into the wild west. A couple of days of heat advisory for the inland cities and thats where we are the hottest, the inner east bay for the weekend, and as we get to, do i dare say, back to work on monday and things cool down. A look from San Francisco. Across the bay. Waking up with just a little bit of fog out there. Along the coast. And inside the bay. And air quality today, moderate. And we do have an onshore breeze. But it is very, very weak. And as we get into the second half of the afternoon, we are looking at temperatures reaching above 100 degrees for some. Here is a look at where the advisory is. And we will last all the way until 9 00 tomorrow night. The north bay hills, the Coastal Range, and Santa Cruz Mountains, and into the east bay. Widespread. And our valleys and our hills included in this. And it is stretches just above into areas along i80, vallejo, and in towards fairfield. And all of our little communities right in there as well. And the temperatures already in fairfield, reporting 72, and 69 in livermore. And 73 walnut creek. Around the bay, mid 60s in oakland. And 56 in San Francisco. And still looking at fog at Half Moon Bay and 55 degrees for you there. And along the peninsula, upper 60s in areas like redwood city. And 70 degrees saratoga. And then we get into los gatos. Because in the overnight hours, these areas are not really recovering much. And that will be again for tonight. And the temperatures for the afternoon. 72 in pacifica. And 74 San Francisco. And 80s around the bay. 86 for fremont. And then we go inland. And it is baking. 101 in antioch. And if we can think about what we can do with these dead trees, we can help fund some of the removal of these trees. According to pg e, the drought, as well as bart and beetle infestation are having a devastating impact on californias forests. This is called hi mirror. Take us through this. This is a super super smart mirror with a hightech secret built in. It has a facial recognition camera. With hand gestures, voice recognition. You can do all kinds of things. And my favorite part is that it scans your skin, and i have to go and stand in front of it, for it to pop open my particular skin scan. And i will run around. And i will look straight at it and say, hi, mirror, listen. All right. Now, it all kind of takes a second. Hi, mirror, scan my skin. Okay. And then i am going to hand gesture it over. And all right. It all takes a few minutes. But the bottom line with this mirror, it has spotify built in. It has Beauty Products built in. So it scans your skin, it looks for things like pores and wrinkles and fine lines, and elasticity. Like super hd. You can find all of the little problems of your skin. It is insane. And how to fix them. Yes. So first you have to deal with the fact that it gives you all of your problems. So that can be a little hard to take. And then it assesses over time, so it analyzes your skin and tells you what issues have you and what the problem areas might be and lists out some products, some 10,000 products linked up to it. Do you think you will use this long term . How long does it cost . It is 370. You can get it online. 369 or so. This is a high mirror plus. And it is absolutely awesome. And it basically goes around, and it helps to treat acne scar, age spots, and even reduce pore size. This is on presale. And it is on, you can get it for a deal, preshipped in september. And one minute to do. This is like a pliny light saber to mini light saber to zap your zits. You have no blemishes. So i will put this on your hand. And you can feel it. You can feel it. Yes. And it zaps them there. And then this is fda approved. And works in as little as one treatment. Maybe for a teenager or Something Like that has an acne problem, that would be a good thing. How much is that . About 150. 149. If youre on the run and you want to shave, that is three and one. And all right there. This is the three and one shaver. This is freaking brilliant. The way it works is, you pop the top off and spray a little water on and spray a little bit of the shay butter scream and the razor pops out and a clean shave. So if you missed a spot. Or you have a little cleanup to do. Good for guys and gals. And like 15, right . Thats it. And this last one intrigues me. Only a few minutes, but take it away. So this one is called the glam scout. So this way it works, you can scout a look within the app. And we will use the camera to scout and hold it over a picture of something that you like, like oprah. And take a photo.
