Uc berkeley postpones an event concerning an ann cou lter. People are already starting to make their way to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco for the annual 4 20 celebration here at the park. And coming up, we will tell but some of the changes in store for people coming to the event. Conservative commentator ann coulter vows to speak on the Berkeley Campus after her event is postponed. It is all ahead on mornings on 2. This is ktvu mornings on 2. The rain is gone and the sun is out. This is the type of spring day ive been waiting for. And i am excited it is finally here. Good morning, everyone. Welcome back to mornings on 2. It is thursday, april 20th. Im mike mibach. You and me both. Im gasia mikaelian. Steve, i cant imagine were alone in welcoming the sunshine. I think mike will be doing cartwheels tomorrow if thats the way he feels. I cant do cartwheels but i will do Something Else. I understand. I cant either anymore. We do have mostly clear skies. Some fog out there. It will lift and be mostly sunny. The rain is gone as mike talked about and gasia said the sup is out. It will be a nice day. Santa rosa did it. Already the wettest ever. You had to get over 60 inches of rain and you did. 17 gives you 60. 05 for the season. There will be more. Our system was pretty darn good until it reached about Santa Cruz Mountains, santa clara valley. It didnt have a lot left. We are getting mostly sunny skies. It will lift and clear out. Also some up in the sierra. 50s on the temps. Slow to recover. A few in the upper 50s. South menlo park, 51. San car close is at san carlos is at 51. Sunshine and warmer temps tomorrow. If youre trying to get to San Francisco, there is a crash blocking several lanes of the bay bridge. Westbound past treasure island. You may look at the camera and think it is stuck. No, it is not stuck. The traffic on the other side is moving. Westbound traffic barely moving getting into treasure island. It stays that way all the way up into the island. This is because of a fourcar injury wreck right after the tunnel. This is not what you want to get into it. If youre watching this at home, dont do it. Take bart or do Something Else but dont get on the bridge. The actual bridge itself will take you an hour to get in. Wherever youre driving from, it will be very slow. All right. Thank you for that look there. We can see that traffic at the toll plaza is very slow and the metering lights will basically hold you at the bay bridge before more cars are let on to the bridge. San mateo bridge not bad. I would still do this rather than go over to the bay bridge. You can see when you get over to 101, there will be slowing on 101 in san mateo and south city. But at this point i would still do that. The other freeways around the bay area are normal. 8 03. Lets go back to the desk. Thousands of people will gather in San Francisco at Golden Gate Park for the unofficial 4 20 celebration. Allie rasmus, the party is still unsanctioned but this year it sort of has a sponsor. Right. They have 200 porta potties and theyre playing for extra fences, barricades, security, medical personnel for the 4 20 celebration happens in the hippy hills area of Golden Gate Park every year on this date. Already this morning we have seen people gathering lighting up their joints and pipes and getting ready to celebrate the unofficial holiday that pays tribute to pot. The merchants paying for these features hope that this will diminish some of the concerns from people who live in the area about trash and sanitation problems. People who live nearby Golden Gate Park have complained about the problems on 4 20 for years. They dont clean up after themselves and it ends up being a total mess for a while afterwards. I get home from work pretty late. I remember last year it was you know, there was a lot of traffic. It seemed like a well attended event. Reporter the estimates are as many as 15,000 people can be at Golden Gate Park for the event. Because of the new money put into it, new rules are coming for those who attend. People will have to go through security gates. They cant bring Glass Containers or bongs. No barbecue or tents or music speakers allowed. And this years event is also strictly 18 years old and up. No kids allowed. San Francisco Police say they will be working with Child Protective Services today to make sure that no one under age is at the event. Police have set up a hotline that president s can call to report issues. Youre looking at Golden Gate Park right now where you see some of the park rangers setting up extra garbage bins and recycling bins it looks like. They just arrived a short time ago. Weve already seen some people showing up here at the park. Even at this early hour. So it looks like folks are anxious to maybe get things started out here. From the looks of it, it seems like at least the people, these unofficial organizers, unofficial responsors are prepared and unofficial sponsors are getting prepared for the events throughout the day. The College Republicans expect 300 people to attend the event and will announce a new venue next week. Coulter addressed the issue last night on fox news with host tucker carlson. Because i called their bluff and they didnt have another reason to cancel me. One of the excuses was we need more than four weeks to prepare for a speech like this. Well, no, if what youre worried about is violent protesters, you want to give them about four minutes. If we had had adequate time to work with the berkeley republicans to plan for the event, to locate a venue, to let the police do the security assessment they need today do, im confident this event would have happened on april 27th.
