The gas tax would go up 12 cents per gallon and if passed it would be the first time in 23 years the gas tax has gone up in california. The plan also includes higher vehicle registration fees and for the first time 0 emissions starting in the year 2020. Generally speaking, higher taxes and fees are not a popular idea politically but drivers we talked to so far this morning say they know the roads in our state are in disrepair and they would be paying more to fix them.
