Police say had the crash happened later in the day, it could have been much worse. Were very fortunate that this happened in the middle of the night and not at 3 p. M. When there would be seniors here enjoying their Community Center and having events, including use events at this facility as well. The driver was the only one in the car. The driver is being treated for minor injuries. An uber driver accused of sexually assaulting a passenger. Police in East Palo Alto want to know if there are more victims. Ktvus Christien Kafton live in East Palo Alto now with reaction to whats happening. Reporter yeah, we just spoke with East Palo Alto police. They say that they did arrest that suspect. He was arrested, taken to jail. He is now out on bail. We talked to female passengers in East Palo Alto this morning. They say this is exactly the reason they are alert every time they get into a rideshare vehicle. It is a concern. I work at night and i take ubers every, like, every like three times a week, and its scary because, i mean, with uber you never know who can pick you up, you know . And just looking at a picture, it doesnt give you enough background on, like, who the person is or, like, you know, where they live or something. At least have information about the person if an emergency comes up. Reporter a little background on this story. On saturday afternoon East Palo AltoPolice Arrested 59year old Rodolf Vjerdha after a Woman Told Police he pressured her to sit next to him in the front seat of the car during a ride to her apartment on friday evening. The woman says she took uber pool, meaning there should have been additional passengers. Instead, she says she overheard the driver calling the other passengers and saying he would not be picking them up. She says that he locked the doors, touched her leg and kissed her during that ride. She says she demanded to be let out of the car but the driver refused to stop. Then she says once they arrived at her apartment she says he asked to come up to her apartment, but she refused. She was eventually able to get free and into her home. She called police and officers arrested the suspect after spotting his vehicle back in palo alto on saturday. Police say now they are investigating looking for the possibility of additional victims. The possibility of this driver victimizing another woman in the past that we dont know about is pretty high. We would like to make sure there are no we are victims and encourage other victims to come forward. Reporter now, we also reached out to uber, who says that the allegations are a clear violation of their guidelines. They tell ktvu that that driver is now banned. Christien, uber has the ability to track its drivers. So im assuming the company will go back and look at this drivers previous routes . Reporter police are looking into that. They are looking through that drivers history to see if he has history of doing this with other passengers. They say now that he is not driving, that might have reduced his pool of potential victims. Its a good thing they made this arrest. Thats the reason they need any additional victims if they are out there to come forward. Christien kafton thank you. As we mentioned a few minutes ago, the fbi is investigating hack involving the Democratic National committee emails. The Democratic National convention getting underway in philadelphia today. Angry Bernie Sanders supporters have been marking outside the convention hall. They say the convention is a, quote, funeral for the Democratic Party that followed leaked emails that suggested Party Members clearly favored Hillary Clinton in her battle against sanders during the heated democratic primaries. I think the clinton people stole it. I think the corruption is starting to become more publicly none with the wikileaks and such. The Democratic Party chairman debbie Wasserman Schultz says she plans to step down at the end of the convention, but some democrats say that her resignation should come sooner. Bernie sanders and Michelle Obama are scheduled to speak at the convention today. As Hillary Clinton takes the stage at the dnc with her family, her newly chosen running mate, some people question whether he is the right pick for the party. A former Virginia Governor is aligned with the democratic platform, but some democrats dont think he is progressive enough. They say kaine leans to the right on a few issues like abortion and as a catholic he doesnt believe in abortion but still supports a womans right to choose. He is against legalizing marijuana, calling it a gateway drug. I have voted for it. But i think there is a better way to go at the problem, and that is limitations on the size of magazines and ammunition clips.
