San Leandro Police gathering evidence in the Homicide Investigation. Shooting victim was found outside a Senior Community center just down the street about a block on the righthand side. The man who was found shot and wounded was pronounced dead here at the scene. He was discovered around 7 30 last night. The investigation began when san Leandro Police got 911 calls about gunfire in the area. When officers got here they discovered a car crash involving a car and a minivan. The people inside the minivan were nowhere to be found. While they were investigating the accident, officers were told the man nearby had been shot and found right outside of the front door of the Senior Community center where there was a private function going on at the time. We talked with the witness who didnt want to show her face but heard the gunfire. I heard shots and then all of a sudden everyone was running. Reporter police have not said for sure if the shooting is related to the car crash but certainly it would appear it is part of the investigation. Police are interviewing witnesses and going through Surveillance Video from the area in the hopes of identifying the shooter who remains on the loose. The motive for the homicide remains unclear this morning. In terms of the impact for anyone traveling through this area keep in mind that be east 14th street shutdown in both directions. This is for the ongoing Homicide Investigation and san leandro. A developing story in east bay were Concord Police have shut down a park to investigate a death. Police say a womans body found to 38 this morning floating in a pond. A Major Crimes Unit at the park but not actively searching for anyone in the area. Were at the scene and we will bring a live update at 7 30. Investigators think they know how fire destroyed a san jose business and forced people to evacuate last night started. The concern is growing that the building might collapse. We are there right now and just spoke with fire officials. Reporter thats right and they were mentioning to me they think the building behind me that caught on fire may have to be demolished. The roof collapsed and it is constructed with unreinforced masonry. They are concerned about that and that is why right now there is a Fencing Company putting fencing around the building. This is right next to apartments and homes. As you can see from the cell phone video, the entire building was engulfed in flames that were coming through the roof. This is what it looked like at 9 00 last night when it started at the Auto Repair Shop. The shop owner was working on a car and stepped away and moments later the cars owner screamed the car was on fire. They were able to get out of the building and 50 firefighters called to the scene because there were flammable and combustible liquids inside which could cause a fire to accelerate. We spoke to a man living behind the shop who was walking by when the fire started and heres what he said. I looked this way and i saw explosions and i started to see the fire. I was scared and i took my young son and my wife and said run reporter as i mentioned there is an apartment complex nextdoor and those residents were evacuated last night because of the potential danger. Santa fe city council will consider banning nonessential city travel with North Carolina and mississippi in response to new laws in those states which many see as discriminatory against people based on their sexual orientation. They have closed up a portion of the park in concord and part of the street as well. Concord police leading the investigation and this is close to newhall park where a female body was found this morning. Police investigating how the woman died. Police are telling us they were called here at 2 36 this morning because of calls saying a body was found in the pond. When they arrived they found the body near the edge of the pond. Some Details Remain unclear including the age of the woman, race, or circumstances behind her death. Police told us they are not actively searching for someone and remains an active investigation. Officers have closed off part of the park near the pond so they can continue the investigation. Concordes Major Crime Unit detectives are trying to piece together exactly what happened but a womans body found in the parking concord and as we learn more details we will pass them along. New developments in the killer bees in an east bay neighborhood. Police say most of them are gone but over the Weekend Police sent out a warning about a large swarm of aggresive bees attacking people and animals. It happened in an area near hitchcock drive. And amateur beekeeper noticed a different type of bee in his yard and was attacked. People from the Beekeepers Association put out a temporary hive to attracted the bees and destroy them. The plan seems to be working. There are few like one right there. But there are not enough to bother anyone and no one has been stung that i know of. Police say most of the bees are gone and just a few are confined to one yard. They are expected to be africanized killer bees that might have killed two small dogs. The 105th bay to breakers race was free of problems according to the police in San Francisco. The race is known as a running street party with heavy drinking but more toned down this year. Police only made five arrests for public intoxication. They made 23 arrests overall. 13 of those were traffic violations. There were only 10 medical calls. San Leandro Police gathering evidence at the scene and investigating a homicide that happened last night. The shooting victim found wounded outside of the citys Senior Community center down on the righthand side of this street. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was discovered at 7 30 last night. The investigation began when san Leandro Police got 911 calls about shots being fired in the area. When officers got here they discovered a car crash involving the car and a minivan. The people in the minivan were nowhere to be found in while they were investigating the accident they were told there was a man nearby who was shot. He was found outside the Community Center where a private function was going on. A witness we talked to didnt want to show her face but was inside of san leandro hospital nearby when she heard gunfire. I looked out the window and saw people were running and all of a sudden one of the nurses said someone was shot and that was it. Reporter police have not confirmed that the shooting is related to the crash but that is certainly a possibility and something thats being investigated. Investigators interviewing witnesses near the area last night and going over Surveillance Video from nearby businesses in hopes of identifying the shooter. The race called the running street party in the past with heavy drinking was more lowkey this year.
