Students are voicing their opposition to propose tuition hikes, a fouryear freeze on tuition increases is just about to end and the board of trustees recommend tuition start increasing annually based on inflation. Protesters say too many students wouldnt be able to afford a quality station education. Students will begin a Hunger Strike at noon today with that big noontime rally and ive reached out to the organizers of the demonstration. Almost all Public Schools in detroit are closed because teachers called in sick because the School District says it wont pay them this summer. The district says it cant do it without additional funding from the state. Back in march the governor signed into law some emergency funding thats keeping the district operating but only through the end of the school year, june 30th, and means some teachers who elect to have teachers spread out over the entire year wont be paid for work theyve already done. With rising bay area home prices and traffic getting worse and worse, more and more people are thinking about leaving the bay area.
