Crews are on the scene on a sinkhole in the Pacific Heights neighborhood trying to figure out what caused the huge sinkhole. Now that the sun is up, were getting a better look. Now that the sun has come up. You can really see in that big sinkhole its about 20 feet across. About 10 feet deep. Were expecting a crew to arrive here later on. The repair crew to arrive later on. As you might imagine, all morning long as neighbors have walked by, theyve been interested to see what the sinkhole looks like. Coming home, i noticed that the street was blocked off because of the depression on the road and as i was driving onto work, i pulled over to see what was going on. Ktvu was on scene as the sinkhole formed as a depression in the street. Some people called in. Crews came out and as were on scene interviewing a witness, the sinkhole gave way. Someone called in about 8 30 this morning. Pretty amazing video watching that section of road just drop through. Youre here from the Public Utilities commission and have an update about how the repair crew is going the get to work which is to say, they need to find out what is going on under the road. We are concerned about whats happening in the last week or so. We have killers out and about. Theyre amongst us and we need to take them off of the Streets Police are looking for suspects in the shooting deaths the city had 30 homicides, right now, they have 14 homicides recorded and were only 4 months into the year. The police giving us new details about the disappearance of a 2yearold and the killing of her mother, nichole. The police and fbi searched several homes including an apartment in oakland. Neighbors say thats where the former babysitter lives. She refused to let her see her daughter in the weeks before her death. Major sinkhole. Theyre going to have a strategy for dealing with more rain in the immediate forecast. Were expecting to get a band of showers. Theyre going to divert the flow down into other lines on other streets trying to determine what the reason is why this one occurred. Sinkholes typically occur when theres space or air in the ground when it shouldnt exist and theres pressure and it collapses. Sometimes we have a friday night commute. Its not the neatest thing out there now on the south bay commute. Its 8 16. I think 580 between dublin looks very intense. I would keep an eye on that. Police say they removed 2 people walking on the tracks near the richmond station. They got the people out of the way. Soon they were arrested because its trespassing. Fans are continuing to pay tribute to the musician and still the exact circumstances remain a mystery, its not considered suspicious. An autopsy will happen later today on princes body and that may reveal more about what happened. Prince was reportedly sick recently. The 57yearold was found dead in his compound in minnesota outside of minneapolis. His death comes a week after his plane had to make an emergency lefthand landing. Representatives say he was sick with the flu, but this morning, tmz is recording that prince was treated for a Drug Overdose at the hospital after the Emergency Landing and that was six days before his death. People around the world and here in the bay area are continuing to pay tribute to the music legend. How about this scene in San Francisco, a bunch of prince fans came together outside of city hall and held a dance party. City hall was lit up in purple in honor of prince and his fans say theyre stunned by his studden death. He was more than a performer. He has an artistry behind him that speaks to San Francisco in a special way because we hold that in our hearts as artists i want to tell you prince and to his family, we love you so much and miss you and San Francisco will always remember you. Tributes are pouring in for prince this has got to be one of my favorites. Nasa tweeted out this photo of a remnant of a supernova that is shaped by a death of a massive star. He was seen out and about in minneapolis and hosted a party this past weekend for some of his fans at his compound. In other news, San Jose Police investigating a rise in Violent Crimes including three homicides within four days. The body of carlos was found after he was gunned down. On wednesday night, police say that the 43yearold fatally stabbed his father at a Mobile Home Park south of downtown. We are concerned about whats happening in the last week or so. We have killers out and about. Theyre amongst us and we need to take them off of the streets. Police are looking for suspects in the shooting cases. Last year, the city of san jose had 30 homicides. Right now, they have 14 homicides recorded. The body of a missing east bay woman has been found. The man has been arrested in connection with her death and authorities are searching for one other suspect. The body of kimberly was found in a shallow grave outside of a home on tuesday. She was last seen on march 28th but not reported missing until april 12th. She died shortly after her disappearance. A 27yearold has been charged with murder. He was arrested one day after they found a possible crime scene at a home in richland. Police are looking for a second suspect. They have not disclosed a motive yet. The police releasing new details about the disappearance of a twoyearold and the killing of her mother, nichole. Police and the fbi searched several homes including an apartment in oakland. Neighbors say thats where her former babysitter lives friends say she would not let nichole see her daughter in the weeks before her death. Theyre sharing a piece of evidence, its a piece of plywood covered in spray paint. It has spray painted markings on it we hope someone may recognize. They could be graffiti.
