The windshield had a couple sprinkles, and i didnt turn them on because i didnt want to wipe them away. More clouds than anything else. Well take it. Theres been some with another beautiful sunrise over the city. These tropical clouds coming up from the south. This low has been all over the south for a couple weeks and a few reports some of rain. We had more so south of gilroy to be honest, but a little bit in monterrey and north of santa rosa. Mainly up around northern napa county, sonoma county, lake county, mendocino county. Theres been some very light rain on the peninsula. More sprinkles than anything else. Most of that is falling apart. The heaviest is holister down south of gilroy and looks like thats where the focus is going to be. In the valleys, the best bet wrapping towards santa cruz. Its keeping us relatively warm, mostly cloudy, warm, possible scattered showers. St. Johns yashgs but a tropical feel with 80s, 70s for many closer to the water. Cooler weather is on the way. Heres sal, 7 02. Were okay expect for the crash in the east bay Near University. Theres crash blocking lanes, causing an unexpected back up. You can see westbound is normal, but eastbound is the top of the screen Near University is going to be slow because of this crash and traffic is backed up pretty much from the mckaurther maze all the way up. You see only a few lanes are getting through and traffic is going to be okay. This also could be affecting the other side of the freeway, because they tonight look at all the lights. 580 is not affected but might be with people having trouble getting on at the mccarter maze. And the toll plaza, 20 to 25minute delay. San mateo bridge, weve had slow traffic heading to the peninsula. 7 03, before we go to jeanine, we checked in with b. A. R. T. And b. A. R. T. Is not having any major problems. I saw something on twitter and called them up and everything seems to be okay. A section in union city is closed indefinitely. Repair crews are trying to repair the damage caused by the sinkhole. Jeanine, this is in front of one of the big fire stations there . Reporter yeah, it is. Actually, i can show you that right now to show you just how close that is. You can see where all of those work crews are standing by. The fire station is right there and were being told trucks can get out. Right now, their focus is on this sinkhole that you see right here at the intersection of new haven. Its roughly 40 by between the feet wide and you can see how the asphalt creates such a dangerous situation. Crews started repairing. They are on stand by waiting for an excavator. The sinkhole started filling with water, causing more erosion and the hole becoming 12 feet deeper. The Water District was able to close that off and its now dry. The road started buckling yesterday around noon but caved in, and no one has been hurt or damaged. Since we dewatered the hole, its starting to sink more and put more pressure on our pipes. So as far as its terminated to the farthest point, i couldnt tell you. About ten homes have low or no water pressure this morning because crews are making repairs to the hole. Its unknown what caused it. Both the sanitation and Water Districts have been involved because their lines run under it. Alvarado middle school, as well as the Holly Community center are in front of where this sinkhole is, and you could see look just how close that is. Parents are being told that theyre going to have to adjust where they drop off and pick up their kids today. Theyre being told they need to do that towards the back of the school on freddie street. It was over in minutes but students and staff were notified bay email almost two hours later there were no active shoot or campus. You can tell us about a groundbreaking measure Lieutenant Governor newsome wants governors to have a vote on. Good morning, brian. Reporter Lieutenant Governor expected to make that announcement after 10 00 here in San Francisco, and if these proposals become reality that would be up to the california voter, but the state would become the first in the nation to require a background checks at the point of sale for ammunition. Now, according to the associated press, some of those provisions include requiring gun owners with a magazine 11 rounds or more to sell them to licensed dealers, take them out of the state or turn them to Law Enforcement to have them destroyed. California law prohibits the sale of ten rounds or more and another provision is stores would be required to report to police if ammo is lost or stolen. Under this proposal, california would join 11 other states in requiring any other lost or stolen guns to be reported, and the courts system would come up with a process to relinquish weapons from felons and would have to report to the federal background checklist if somebody is added to the database not allowed to purchase a gone. Theres they new controversy surrounding San Francisco sheriff. Ktvu learned the sheriff failed his firearms requirement at the shooting range. According to department rules anyone has up to 21 calendar days from the original failure date to take the test again, but he didnt do that and some of the deputies say thats disappointing. Were all required to go to the range. Were all required to keep up what we call perishable skills because our job first and foremost is Public Safety. The sheriffs chief Legal Counsel issued a statement saying the sheriff is not required to carry a firearm by state law. If he does carry a firearm, only then does he fall within the department of qualification. Two of the three drifters accused of killing a hiker in marin and backpacker still need lawyers. If youre heading up to the sierras, there will be some showers activity on friday if youre going to the mountains, but then to the west, as the system comes in saturday, there could be some very light rain to the north. California law prohibits the magazine containing ten rounds or more. Another provision is stores would be required to report to police if ammo is lost or stolen. Under this proposal, as well, california would join 11 other states, and requiring any lost or stolen guns to be reported to Law Enforcement and the states courtism would have to come up with a process to take a court system would have to come up with a process and the States Department of justice would have to report to the federal background checklist if someone is added who is not allowed to purchase a gun.
