All of us here. Reporter yeah, its certainly going to effect you if you are traveling. You can take a look here you can see the cancellations, lots of cancelled already up on the departures board. Going to new york city. Weve had a tough time finding people who are affected by that here this morning because it seems like word is out shgts people knew about the , people knew about the storm coming. People knew about it yesterday. We do have some video of the airport yesterday. 44 flights were cancelled. Visitors to and from all three new york city airports. From newark, boston, flechl all affected by those delays. Those flying out said they didnt think theyd have to be worried about the airport. Its so empty, its so quiet. Its unusual for sfo. Its one of the major airports of the United States and theres nobody here. And that certainly seems to be at least at this point the scene as well. It does seam anecdotedly a little slow here. You can see flights from new york, newark cancelled a lot of that going on here today. As of last night 50 flights already cancelled here at sfo. That number very well could grow and what that winds up doing is it winds up having a Ripple Effect on travel as those flights are supposed to be in various locations. So if your flight is coming in from say arkansas or from dallas, your flight might be effected by this because the plane isnt where its supposed to be or perhaps the crew isnt where its supposed to be. So the advice to anybody traveling today or if you are coming to the airport to pick someone else of course call that airline to see what the delay situation is like. Christien while youre there any sense of the mood changes of the people of the airport at this hour . No, you know, it seems that people are calm and i guess taking that in stride. We have seen some people sleeping here at the airport. Were also hearing that there was just a moment. Thats because were hearing that there was also a fog situation in san diego. So we have some stranded travelers who are trying to get down to san diego. So certainly a tough day for traveling all around the country. East coast, san diego. So its just a tough day to get around right now. Yeah, Steve Paulson was nodding his head as you said that. Christien just said 50 flights cancelled but its going to multiply. More than that for sure. 6 03 is the time. I should have remembered his name but he said in san diego were having a nor wester with the fog. Good comedy. It can be really thick down there. It is right now. Which in turn means youre probably cancelled. We do have nice weather on tap. It will be nice once we get going here. There we go. Nicole a friend of the show. Yes. My drive home yesterday reminded me why i bought a convertible. We had some records yesterday. Sfo 77. Even pretty warm there. Salinas. Airport in monterey hit 70 degrees and if youve ever spent time in the monterey peninsula you know its really nice because in july it will be about 50 degrees and foggy. Over to nevada is where the ridge of High Pressure is going. So its moving east ever so slowly. Some patchy fog is beginning to show itself. Not strong but i think enough to get a few degrees cooler over the coast today. Were already silting at 40s and 50s for some. Upper 40s for some. Dansville 46. Lafayette sleeping in. And vallejo that option shows 59 degrees. Tomorrow well begin to brush this with increasing clouds and cooler temps. Ill deal with that tomorrow. Today if youre inland it will be nice. Even if youre on the bay it will be nice. 60s, 70s to a few low 80s. And that includes morgan hill to gilroy. I only went 77 today. Clouds cooler on wednesday clearing out thursday. Friday looks all right. Sunday looks like the start. Maybe a wet pattern. A warmer system. No theyre a little bit latitude. Hello there. How are you, steve . Did i go long on that hit or something. No i just all of a sudden here i am sitting here waiting and there i am on tv. So i guess i should start talking. Lets go out and take a look at the commute now. The traffic on 80 westbound is going to be effected by a crash. Westbound 80 at central lane number two is blocked counting from the left and traffic is beginning to back up into richmond. This is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza and you will see that traffic is backed up for a 20minute delay. This is a look at interstate 880 in oakland and if youre driving in san jose northbound 280 traffic is looking good getting up to highway 15. At 6 07 lets go back to the desk. Well tell you about the constellation prize shell get as verizon is set to take over. A late winter storm touches down overnight impacting nearly 50 million across the country. In washington with details coming up. Well we have nice weather here. Might be slightly cooler over by the coast but there are changes for the extended outlook coming up. Welcome back to mornings on 2. Its 6 15. Were still following that big winter storm in the northeast. Boy this brings back memories for me. This is what hartford, connecticut looked like earlier this morning. Theyre preparing for up to 18 of snow. That is a lot of snow in a short bit of time. Everybodys getting it from new england into the atlantic states. This storm is causing a lot of flight cancels all around the country. I know back in washington d. C. They dont like and dont get a lot of snow and when it does happen its a real problem out there. Hey dave and pam thats right. We have over 600 cancel delays at area airport. And let me tell you youre talking about the roads here. This is why this snow in particular is so hard. Look at how icy and slushy it is. So what that is doing is a lot of areas, highways around here is its kind of sticking to the ground. People sliding out on the highways. Weve had a number of crashes. Where i am between Union Station and the capital winds are okay. Theres been a number of plows coming out trying to clear up some of these intersections. So far i havent seen anybody slide through the intersections. In the district where im at weve received about 1. 5. But you will be seeing a lot of this, guys shovelling this out trying to clear some of these sidewalks for all of the folks who do have to head to work today. Federal agencies are still open, but they are on a three hour delay. So unfortunately no snow day for them and also unfortunately for students here in d. C. Theyre only on a two hour delay so no luck there. But in maryland and virginia almost everything in closed because the governors there have declared a state of emergency. Hey, lauren, it looks like youve dodged a weather bullet so far. But our weather people are saying there eave been two or three storms that. Does it look like you guys are going to be okay. I think were going to be okay. Were expected to get a little bit of this like wintery mix throughout the day. So as long as crews are able to keep up with it we should be okay. In the district, we usually are able to skirt some of the worst weather thats out there. And as you were talking about too earlier it sounds like bad news for the cherry blossoms. A lot of people are planning their spring break its a very different site right now. Pam, unfortunately believe it or not the peak time that these are supposed to bloom, starting today. And if the weather hits 24 degrees we could lose 90 of those blossoms and its supposed to get down to 23. Send a little bit of that california weather our way. We will try our best. Thank you for talking with us. Lauren blanchered. Time is 6 18. Lets you get out ot door this morning. Sal will take good care of you. You guys are all laughing. Were all laughing because i just published the weather and someone in washington d. C. Didnt like it so much. How good we have it back here. They said Something Like get lost but not exactly in that way. But i dont blame them. Hey look. Thats why its expensive here in california because we have pretty nice weather. I have to tell you i might be upset too if i lived in washington d. C. If i saw that coming across my time line. Good morning everyone. Lets go out and take a look at the commute on northbound 280 as you drive up to highway 17. It does look pretty good here. We havent had a lot of slow traffic just yet as you drive through the area. This is a look at the south bay and so far that Silicon Valley commutes not bad driving through the area. 580 is slow. And on 205 of course and 680 is looks like its jam packed through dublin. But it gets better by the time you reach the end of pleasanton and hayward to 238. Im going to 280 again. Okay. Well theres 280. This is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. There have been no major issues here. So steve, i realize that people on the east coast are envious of our weather. Steve, they were belly aching all january. All right. That was nice. Ill do that again. Appreciate it. We have mostly clear skies here. Half moon bay a little bit of fog but it picked up a north breeze. It looks mostly clear. There will be a few high clouds coming into the north bay but very low inland. Its a very fine line. Theyve actually kind of moved the snow line a little north of new york city. North of that there will be some heavy snow and they are expecting some rhode island getting some good snow. South of that its more of a sleet or cold rain. The blizzard watch continues. You get a good look here real quick. See how. Thats carved itself out there and look what happens on the west. Up and over she goes which is why weve been so warm. So ridge, troph, but this ridge is moving. But still its very slow. 40s and 50s on the temps. A few high clouds will come in. This should start to increase a little bit of that coastal fog. So hence the mostly sunny. Upper 70s to 80s. I dont think theres enough to take off unless youre over by the coast or on the bay. Still mild to warm here. Still another warm day for us. Tomorrow we get some clouds in here. Clearing on thursday. Friday looks good and then clouds to move back in on the weekend. Okay. And then again do you think well get snow up in the sierras. 6 22 is the time. Coming up next, a major perk for california teachers. The idea gaining fame. And you have seen it fly over some of the biggest sports event. Coming up why the good year blimp is being grounded. Its okay to cry, right . Come on, moe. I have to go. vo we always trusted our Subaru Impreza would be there for him someday. Ok. Thats it. vo we just didnt think someday would come so fast. See ya later, moe. vo introducing the allnew Subaru Impreza. The longestlasting vehicle in its class. More than a car, its a subaru. Welcome back to mornings on 2. Its 6 25. This should probably be about the last really warm day. 60s, 70s, and 80s. All right, sal, 6 32. What do you have . Yeah, i have a look at some of these things here that i am going to show you. I have noticed a lot of traffic here on 680 as you head south on pleasanton and if youre driving out to the area you can see traffic is going to be busy throughout that area. Were also going to be looking at the bay bridge and the traffic here is not bad. Westbound.
