Costa, a lot of other areas, especially in the Santa Clara Valley cooled off yesterday. Morgan hill and gilroy dropped near 80 degrees. Santa cruz mountains on friday 78 degrees, a cool windless 52 this morning with heavy fog below 2000 feet, they welcome an overdue heat relief. No kidding. Some of the Higher Elevations are tumbling on the temp. That along with a really strong delta breeze and also a big fog bank translates into a cooler pattern here. 26, gusts to 35, they have had gusts to 43, they are done. They are sold out. 50s on the temps, low, low 60s, east bay temps a lot of 50s, even antioch, brentwood, pittsburgh, concord, livermore coming down on the highs and the fog is not going anywhere. Its here for a while. Another low approaches that will continue to enhance that. Overcast, mist, drizzle in the mix even cooler well inland as temperatures tumble into the 60s and a lot of 70s now, mid 80s for some. 102 a couple days ago, sal. I know, its changed quite a bit. Thank you very much, steve. Yes, it has. I do think people are relieved, at least some people are. East shore freeway, we had that crash that i told you about last time that was blocking all the lanes. They have moved it to the right hand side here so its out of the lanes but traffic is going to be busy as you drive through the area and get to the bay bridge toll plaza but i do want to mention that there is some trouble in hercules, westbound 80 at appian way, a motorcycle accident already off to the shoulder but traffic is going to be busy. Lets go to the bay bridge toll plaza now and ill show you the traffic here is backed up. There was word of a crash near the toll plaza. I dont see anything here but the traffic is backed up beyond west grand now, almost owl to the macarthur maze. 6 02. Lets go back to the desk. Thank you, sal. Primary day is here and polls open in just about an hour. Ktvu fox 2s Christien Kafton live in alameda county. The registration county registrar of voters in oakland. Theres christien. Youre waiting for the polls to open up. Hillary clinton, though, received some good news leading up to today. Reporter yeah, absolutely. Im sure that she is thrilled with the news she got that House Minority leader nancy pelosi endorsed Hillary Clinton just this morning. She could pick up an endorsement from president obama as early as tomorrow. Now, the Associated Press declared last night that Hillary Clinton had enough delegates and super delegates to secure the democratic nomination but neither the Clinton Campaign nor the Sanders Campaign is relaxing just yet. Bernie sanders spent his day crisscrossing the bay area, pushing to get out the vote. Thousands turned out in San Franciscos crissy field yesterday afternoon for a concert and rally for the vermont senator. Sanders said its too early to call the race saying predictions of clintons victory are just that, predictions and says hes not conceding the race. Theres nothing to concede. Secretary clinton will not have the requisite number of pledged delegates to win the democratic nomination. She will be dependent on super delegates. They vote on july 25th. Reporter meanwhile, bill clinton was in the bay area yesterday making a case for his wife and urging democrats to get out and vote. The candidate herself was campaigning in southern california. Last night as we have been saying the Associated Press declared that clinton had secured enough delegates to secure the nomination. She called for democrats to unite as the primary season calls to a close but with californias primary today she said it was too early to start celebrating. According to the news we are on the brink of a historic, historic, unprecedented moment. Reporter now, the latest word we have is that Hillary Clinton is scheduled to watch primary returns from california and the other States Holding primaries today from her brooklyn headquarters. Bernie sanders is scheduled to be at a rally in santa monica. One of the major questions out there is how word that clinton may have locked up the nomination will affect todays voter turnout. 45 of the states registered voters are expected to take part in californias primary. Most of those voters expected to turn in their ballots by mail. Again, those polls opening in less than an hour. The Presumptive Republican nominee, donald trump, seeming to backtrack on his controversial criticism of a federal judge who is hearing a Class Action Lawsuit against the defunct Trump University. Now, trump has accused u. S. District judge Gonzalo Curiel of being biased against trump because of his mexican heritage. Since trump wants to build a wall along the border with mexico. Trump has been denounced by democrats and republicans for those remarks. Judge curiel was born in indiana. His parents came to the u. S. From mexico in the 1940s. I dont care if the judge is mexican or not. Im going to do great with the mexican people because i provide jobs so i dont care about mexican but we are being treated very unfairly, bill, very, very unfairly. Now, former Trump University students have filed fraud lawsuits in san diego and new york. Trump says the majority of students were satisfied with the real estate seminar. The sharks are now in a must win situation as they trail three games to one in the stanley cup finals. The Pittsburgh Penguins are now one win away from the title after beating the sharks 31 in game 4 at s. A. P. Center last night. The sharks did cut the lead to one in the third period but then pittsburgh scored its third goal with two minutes left in the game. That was heart breaking seeing that last night. Scott rees has more on what the sharks need to do to turn it around. Reporter uphill battle has become the storyline. They have to win three straight games. Daunting task for a team that has not played with a lead for a single second in this series. It makes it tougher, you know, they have been good with the lead so far. We have battled back, you know and but definitely all playoffs when we have had the lead we know what it feels like and you can take a little confidence from it and moving forward i think thats going to be important for us. I dont think we have started slow. They have been able to find a way to get a goal. We have had opportunities early in the game too and if that goes in, its a completely different game so i think that first goal is big. Its not like they have had a lot more opportunities than us. We just havent, you know, found a way to get that first one in and the game changes from there. Reporter history obviously not on the sharks side here. They are 05 all time in playoff series in which they trailed three games to one. If there is a Silver Lining it has to be their regular season road record which was the best in the nhl. Channel a whole lot of that mojo if they want to keep the ultimate dream alive. In san jose, scott rees, ktvu fox 2 sports. Game 5 is thursday in pittsburgh. If the sharks win there will be a game 6 on sunday in san jose. The warriors are waking up in cleveland this morning getting ready for game 3 of the nba finals tomorrow. This is video of the doves leading oakland yesterday bound for ohio. They would potentially round up a second straight title on this trip if they win tomorrow and then on friday. If the cavaliers win at least one game in cleveland, which we hope they dont, the series will come back to oakland for game 5 on monday. The boy screamed for help, he ran over to the relative, it was seen that he was bleeding. The bank itself did have blood on the floor where the boy was stabbed. Big fog bank, also a rather good delta breeze equals cooler temps. We will show them to you coming up. To the women who know what real values are, you inspire us to bring you real value every day. Welcome back to mornings on 2. Time now is 6 14. After effort to remove a judge from the bench in the south bay is gaining momentum after he handed down a sentence for Sexual Assault that many people viewed as too lenient. The case involves brock turner, a former stanford swimmer who is now behind bars but not for too long. Janine de la vega joins us live from palo alto this morning. This sentence has angered many stanford students, it seems. Reporter yeah, it really has, brian. And the sanford daily, they are reporting that theres an e mail circulating for an effort to get the graduating seniors to stage a post at whacky walk which is the traditional professional that kicks off commencement week. They are upset because prosecutors had asked for 20 yearold brock turner to be sentenced to six years in prison, but the judge gave him six months in jail. The sanford swimmer was convicted of three felony counts for sexually assaulting an intoxicated, unconscious woman outside a fraternity party. Judge aaron persky said the sentence was appropriate given turners lack of criminal history. This has sparked public outcry and several petitions to recall judge persky are circulating online. So far 234,000 people have signed it but it may not hold any weight. An official recall effort needs to be filed with the county registrars office. Heres what a legal analyst told ktvu about all this fallout. And im not pro rape, im not saying that he should have been sentenced to xnumber of years. Am i surprised . Yes. But you dont attack the system this way. This is something that we live with. This is how our system is set up. Reporter legal experts say if a judge were removed because of a sentence that he or she handed down, it may influence other judges and how they rule in cases. The District Attorney has expressed his disappointment for the sentence but he says he doesnt think the judge should be removed from his position. He is technically up for reelection today but coming up at 7 15 we will tell you why his name is not on the ballot. Janine, thank you for that update. Lets get you out the door if youre heading out to work or school this morning, sal is keeping an eye on our traffic. There were a couple of crashes that you were mentioning last time. East shore freeway not doing well. We are going to start there. And 80 westbound if youre driving from vallejo and driving through hercules and richmond youre going to see a lot of slow traffic in this area. A lot of the road sensors are red. We had a couple of accidents near appian way, crash west 80 at gillman and the traffic is going to be slow until you get to the berkeley area, and then it evens out for the trip down to the bay bridge toll plaza. We have a live look at the toll plaza now and there are no major problems but it is crowded getting into San Francisco. Go to 280 in san jose, that still looks good. The entire south bay commute is not too bad. But just looking at one of the maps here that i have and i dont see a lot so right now this is a decent commute, 280 and the other freeways. 6 17. Lets go to steve. Thank you, sir. We have a really big fog bank out there and its going to make an impact even for some well inland or dont get the fog because we will get that breeze. Look at that, that looks cold and breezy to windy. Looks good, doesnt it, brian . Sure does. I like it. I know. Out towards san ramon we have also a winterlike fog, jim reported that and when low clouds make it out to concord, livermore and cool air aloft, even lake county will cool down. 92 yesterday, down from 99 on sunday. Its already 60 now, thats down five from yesterday. Today i want 89. About 88, 89. I think temperatures will cool down even lake county out to vacaville and antioch and brentwood, oakley cooled down, a lot of fog, strong delta breeze in place and the cooler air aloft is really kind of the key. By that, you get up around 1400 feet, even up to 2000 feet temps are plunging. 26 sustained at fairfield, gusts to 35. They have had gusts to 43. So hold on if youre out interstate 80, maybe cordelia out to fairfield and even around the benicia bridge, gusts about 35. West 12 at napa, west at concord, west at oakland, thats even with the low cloud deck. Thats pretty impressive. Sfo usually tails off in the breeze when the cloud cover comes in. Northwest livermore at 12. Thats cool for them as well. 50s on a lot of the temps or low, low 60s, peninsula temps stuck here, pacifica says 54, hillsborough 53, woodside 57 but then close to 60 at least los altos hills, palo alto, menlo park, atherton withins degree or two. Another low is moving in. This one will continue to enhance that fog bank, thats the one we had on saturday. Its hanging out over salt lake city. A little warmup on sunday and then after that, an you know seasonably cold system looks to be dropping down into the Pacific Northwest. We will get some drizzle next few days. The mere fact that theres rain up in Northern California tells me, tells you its going to be a cooler pattern here for june. No doubt about it. Low overcast, chilly to warm, breezy to windy, even cooler for those out in the back 40. It will be cooler for everybody. I went 89 in clearlake, novato 72, 65 saws sausalito. 79 livermore, 67 oakland, 60s, 70s even morgan hill to gilroy. Not much warmer on santa cruz or capitol , too much fog. 50s, 60s on the coast in the city, south San Francisco, parts of the peninsula are low to mid70s at best. All the way into friday, a little rebound on saturday and then it does look like a quick warmup sunday. After that, we will plunge on the temps. Wow. Be interesting to see how much we plunge in the next few days. We will see. Maybe next wednesday, thursday would not be surprised if concord, livermore about 72. Compared to where we were a few days ago . Maybe even 70 which would be 10 degrees below average. This is lovely. Its good sleeping weather for sure. I would agree with you. Thank you, steve. It is 6 20 right now. Another major bombing in istanbul turkey, we are following that for you. And up next we are going to tell you about the bus that was targeted in the middle of rush hour. Its been closed since a 3year old boy, as you recall, climbed over an outer barrier and fell about 15 feet into the enclosure last month. Video captured the silverback dragging the boy just before zoo officials shot and killed the gorilla. The shooting caused an outpouring of criticism, some blaming the boys mother, but prosecutors say they wont seek charges against her. And if anyone doesnt believe a 3yearold can scamper off very quickly, they never had kids, because they can and they do. The gorilla exhibit now has a taller barrier railing in place and rope netting. The United States is taking part in a Critical Military exercise in the baltic sea. Its misting near city college in San Francisco. The street is wet and theres a lot of fog. Its made it well inland and the breeze is there. Its an onshore breeze, gusts to 33 at travis, west oakland, west napa, west concord, 50s, 60s on the temps. They havent budged all morning long. Another low approaching that will only enhance the fog. Low overcast, chilly to warm but coming down on the inland temps, even well inland. 60s, 70s for many now or some 80s but thats pretty far away. 6 31, sal. Things picking up, what . Yeah, things are getting a little bit more crowded there, steve, around the bay area commute. Good morning to you. Lets go out and take a look at what we have now, you will see the traffic is going to be busy if you are driving out to the commute here at the bay bridge toll plaza, you will see the traffic is backed up out to the macarthur maze and those metering lights are on. I do want to mention the traffic is going to be okay in the east bay, things are getting more crowded, 680, highway 4, 80, of course, as you know has been pretty slow from hercules in pockets to the berkeley area because of earlier issues. Now taking a look at the Silicon Valley commute, for the most part its off to a pretty decent start. We dont see a lot of slow traffic here on 101, 85 or 280. At 6 32, lets go back to the desk. Sal, thank you. The polls open across california in just about 30 minutes from now and according to the Associated Press count, Hillary Clinton has locked down enough delegates to secure the democratic nomination but Bernie Sanders is not giving up. Reporter doug luzader joins us live from washington with more. Good morning. Reporter good morning. Kind of a surprise when the Associated Press came out with this delicious yesterday that Hillary Clinton declaration yesterday that Hillary Clinton locked down the nomination. They are baseing it on the basing it on the super delegate county. She now has the delegates she needs to clench the nomination. Hillary clinton with a big crowd for a final get out the vote push in california that may not even be necessary now. According to the news, we are on the brink of a historic, historic unprecedented moment. Reporter the a. P. Says clinton now has enough pledged and Party Insider super delegates to win the democratic nomination. Its been a long road for clinton, a surprisingly difficult battle with Bernie Sanders who remains defiant despite the latest count. Theres nothing to concede. Secretary clinton will not have the requisite number of pledged delegates to win the democratic nomination. She will be dependent on super delegates. They vote in july 25th. Reporter and sanders is correct, those super delegates could change their minds before the convention but theres no evidence of any Real Movement and sanders is running into more pressure to drop out. Reports of a phone call with president obama over the weekend, who is clearly anxious to start campaigning. But the risk for clinton is that supporters of sanders will see this as more evidence of a rigged system run by insiders. Whats going to be interesting with the super delegates is if their constituency has supported Bernie Sanders but they go to the convention and support hillary and if im the bernie supporter im calling into question what is your motivation, who are you as a super duper delegate supposed to tell me my vote doesnt count but yours does. Reporter saying this is a rush to judgment and that it may suppress voter turnout today in the states that are voting, especially california today. We will have to wait and see. Doug, thank you so much. The hotly contested democratic president ial race is boosting voter interest in todays primary but theres also a u. S. Senate seat up for grabs. The Investigation Continues this morning into the chaotic aftermath of a donald trump rally in san jose. This is video, want to show you, of last thursdays rally. San jose Police Detectives say that they need people who were assaulted or hurt to come forward. They say they have identified some of the people involved. We have made significant strides in our investigation, theres a lot of great video out there with information that captured a lot of the violence that occurred. Some of the Trump Supporters who were attacked at last weeks rally accused the mayor of issuing a standdown order that prevented police from making arrests but mayor sam liccardo responded saying he doesnt have the authority to give a standdown order and wouldnt have anyway. Buzzfeed. Com said no thanks to the Trump Campaign. The social Media Entertainment and news site just pulled out of a 1. 3 million advertising deal with the Republican National committee. Buzzfeed says its over Donald Trumps quote, racist rhetoric. The deal was signed before trump became the partys presumptive nominee. Buzzfeeds ceo jonah pretty also called for other social Media Companies such as google and facebook to pull out of working with the Republican National committee as well. In a statement he said, quote, the Trump Campaign is directly opposed to the freedoms of our employees in the United States and around the world and in some cases such as his proposed ban on International Travel for muslims, would make it impossible for our employees to do their jobs. Today San Francisco supervisor will consider a proposal that would shield low income hiv and aids survivors from rent hikes. The bill would close a loophole in the current city law. Right now people who receive federal housing subsidies are protected from rent increases but aids and hiv survivors who receive the same housing vouchers are excluded. Supervisor scott wiener says its not clear why the group was excluded in the first place. If approved the protections could go into effect as soon as a bay area city could be losing its most important piece of firefighting equipment just days before the 4th of july holiday. Dale city looking for ways to close aid 6 million budget gap and taking out fire engine 95 would take care of 1 3 of that. The fire station would still have a truck to answer paramedic calls but it doesnt have water, so of course it would be limited in fighting fires and the nearest fire engine would then be 2 miles and several minutes away from responding to calls. Imagine a room that was burning, imagine a fire growing in size, you know, essentially doubling every minute. Certainly a serious concern for us from a safety component as firefighters and for our community where we have primarily housing here. City officials could put a bond measure on the ballot next year that would raise money that could be used to bring back the fire engine but that wouldnt help in the short term. The city council is scheduled to vote later this month and the fire engine could be unavailable as of july 1st. Time now is 6 40. An East Palo Alto school is scrambling to recover after thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of laptops and damaged school equipment. Heres a look at what teachers found from Brentwood Academy yesterday morning, paint spilled on the floors, chairs overturned. It hurts us on a deeper level because all of our kids come to school here every day to learn and for them to walk in in the morning and see six police cars out front and caution tape in a place where they always feel safe, it made them feel really unsafe. Brentwood academys 540 students and Staff Members are still reeling from the loss and based on the graffiti found at the school, some say they believe former students may be responsible.
