Ktvus alex savidge live now with how bay area crews are pitching in and help in whats projected to be a very active fire season. Reporter good morning to you. Things certainly not looking good and easy to see why this fire season is looking like its going to be a pretty bad one around the bay area and around the state for that matter. This is a scene you see everywhere now. You see hillsides like this one with brown, dry grass and these kinds of conditions are why cal fire officials believe this fire season will be especially challenging. Cal fire is bringing more firefighters on earlier in the season. This is part of a Seasonal Hiring push and also we are already seeing many local departments here in the bay area pitching in as well. Heres some Youtube Video that shows almeda county firefighters heading to the front lines of the coleman fire, still burning down in Monterey County. Remember last year firefighters across our state had a truly tough time. There were several devastating fires across california including, of course, the valley fire up in lake county that left four people dead and destroyed 1300 homes. Now, later on this morning we will, of course, be reaching out to fire owes officials, cal fire officials, local Fire Departments who will again be pitching in this upcoming fire season to get more on this forecast for this upcoming fire season but, of course, brian, as we pointed out here, several large fires already burning in our state and the outlook for the rest of the season certainly is not good. More than 4000 people swarmed to the venue which can only hold 1500. Some of them climbed on top of cars and hung out of windows to get a glimpse of the rapper. I saw a few people that were passed out, like their friends had to carry them out. It was pretty wild, like ive never experienced anything like it. Well, west had announced the surprise show on twitter. Right now it is 6 16. We want to check in with sal for a look at traffic. Hopefully no problems on this monday morning, sal. There are a few and there are a few slowdowns, you know, to be expected, although we dont have anything major we have slowdowns i want to tell you about. Check the south bay commute and look at 280, getting out of downtown and driving up to the west valley. Not bad and you can see that its sunny here and, you know, a little bit of different weather all over the place where we look at these different commutes. I want to mention in San Francisco theres a crash at the corner of van ness and broadway. This photo was sent into us, this car is there, obviously, blocking a good portion of van ness near the broadway intersection. I can put it on the map here for you and show you that traffic is going to be busy in the area here so please give yourself extra time if you use van ness, you might actually want to use a different street to get over to lombard if thats the way youre going. Out to the bay bridge toll plaza and traffic is backed up, about a 15 to 20 minute delay. The fastest way to get on is either in the carpool lane or if you have fastrak to use 880 ramp to get down to the bay bridge. 6 17. Lets bring steve in here. Thank you, sir. We have a bigger fog bank and temperatures will continue their little cooldown, its been a slow process for some. We had the humidity and the clouds on saturday, a few areas starting to take that little dip yesterday but it will really continue today. Low clouds and fog for many, not for all, sal touched on sometimes we always get breaks in the clouds but when low clouds make it out to the east bay, thats usually a sign its going to continue to cool off and it will. 85 yesterday in santa rosa, not today. 76. Oakland from 78 to 70, livermore from 93 to 88 and san jose, even with sunshine, 88, thats downtown to 82 East San Jose probably running about 85 degrees but these temperatures will continue to check on down the next couple of days here. Speaking of san jose, 82, 60, pretty warm low there. Average is 78, 55. 100 degrees back in 1903 and 41 the record low way back in 1896. West at 24, had gusts to 32, west at 12, west of seven santa rosa and novato with a south wind and this kind of a pattern this time of year thats a cooler direction. 50s for many from right about at 60 to 62 but on the peninsula stuck with upper 60s, los altos, stanford, palo alto and hillsborough and pacifica 51 and 52. Low clouds and local drizzle as well. Thats the low we had on saturday, fired up some thunderstorms over the sierra yesterday, probably too far away today, another system is approaching, that will continue this cooler pattern theme as we head into the rest of the week, fog, drizzle or mist out there, cool to mild to warm, breezy to windy at times, even cooler inland, temperatures, though, even those near 100 degrees yesterday still rather toasty but beginning that trek downward, 60s, 70s and 80s now. Anybody who is closer to the bay or to the coast, 68 alameda to 86 danville to 94 in brentwood but not 100 degrees like they were yesterday. 82 san jose, again, 67, kind of a tough pattern, santa cruz, capitola, 60 in pacifica, 68 san bruno and 78 menlo park. If you want cooler weather, hang in there, we will bottom out around thursday or friday for sure and ease into it. It looks turkey a nice weekend. Looking at the Mountain Biking weather, huh, steve . Been going out Mountain Biking . A little bit. The old hammy, you know got to be careful with that hammy. Ask hunter pence. Thats true. Take a care of it. I used to do Mountain Biking, it gets brutal on you. I traded mine in for a beach cruiser. Mark zuckerberg social media accounts hacked. Up next the group taking responsibility and why they did it. Pope francis issued a decree this weekend proving the removal of bishops who mishandle sex abuse cases. Church law already allow beneficiaries to be replaced bishops to be replaced enforcement is the key issue. Passing a law doesnt change much. Although it is a good sign, a sign that the pope is committed. Hes determined to make sure that these things dont happen again in the church but lets see if all those who work with the pope will also cooperate in a way that shows that the proof is in the pudding that there will be results. A group of abused survivors is very skeptical of this new policy. They say that the church should just turn over suspected pedophiles to police for prosecution. The big announcement some expecting the federal government to make very soon. An important game for the San Jose Sharks tonight as they hit the ice in the stanley cup final. We will tell you whats at stake and how to score tickets. Good morning. The south bay commute is not a bad one. This is 280 northbound, wide open for you coming out of downtown san jose and getting up to highway 17. Well, we may have had our warmest stretch here for a while, all indications are we are going into a cooler pattern. We will have more on that coming up. Dont you just love it this is ktvu mornings on 2. Good morning, everybody. Thank you for joining us here on mornings on 2. It is monday, june 6th. Im brian flores in for dave clark. Good morning. Im pam cook. Thank you for waking up with us. 6 28 is the time. Whats the weather like . Lets check in with steve. Cooler, cooler. Feels like it. Pretty good fog bank out there. Let the cooling begin for many which have been rather toasty here for about the last three or four days. Inland areas 90s to 100s, not today now. That fog bank is large and in charge and looks like its going to get help all week long here so temperatures will continue their slide. Look for some local drizzle, coast and bay as well, little mist in there, San Francisco 64, 54, pretty close to average, 66, 52 the recovered in 1883 when it was 95 degrees. Westsouthwest at 24. At travis thats the best delta breeze we have seen in a while. Oakland west at 12, napa west at seven. The sea breeze in place, 50s for many, upper 50s to near 60 but with the low cloud deck there and nothing to stir it up or wipe it out, one low there, another one on its way which will move across the next couple of days, that opens the door to that sea breeze. So low clouds, fog, as we call it, Mother Natures air conditioning will kick in here, cool to mild and warm but took the hot out unless youre far inland but even those temps beginning to come down. Sal, 6 30. Things picking up on your screen, a little red there now or what . Yeah, there is a little bit of red in many areas, steve. I want to mention the traffic is going to be getting busier in general all over the place. Lets go out and take a look at what we have here with the bay bridge toll plaza, you will see the traffic is going to be backed up as it normally is at this hour. This is about a 20, maybe a 25 minute delay but one of the nicer things about this drive is the 880 ramp, which you see on the left, the middle right of your screen there, right next to that pole there, if you see it. Its not that crowded. I like that because thats a good sign for that commute, it means that the bay bridge may actually clear up if nothing happens on the span. Little too early to talk about that but we will see, im hopeful. There are no major problems here. I want to mention the traffic on 880 from hayward down to fremont is getting more filled in, hayward to fremont and heading down to fremont it does look okay, coming up next report we will take a look at the tracy triangle once again. 6 31. Go back to the desk. Thank you. It is a very important game at the s. A. P. Center tonight. The sharks hit the ice in their quest to win the stanley cup. A lot of players stepping up during this critical time. It should be a very exciting game. And outside here at the s. A. P. Center, there are some fans that actually showed up very early because tickets havent gone on sale yet. This gentleman, greg in niple, you said you got here at what time . Before 2 00. Why . Ive been a sharks fan for every 20 for over 20 years. Id like to see a game. Ill feel real bad if i didnt do everything i can to get a game. Just in case getting early helps out, im getting here early. Reporter they are passing out wrist bands and you know the process, they are prenumbered wrist bands . It gives everybody an option to be first in line but we will see. Reporter and we dont know how much tickets are or if youre going to get one but youre pretty sure you might and how much are you willing to spend . Im not sure i might. And im willing to spend more than i should. Reporter which is . Maybe 600. This is not a decision i made yet. Reporter okay. Good luck getting a ticket because we know they want to give a fair chance to everybody so they are handing out these prenumbered wrist bands and sounds like they may be doing a drawing picking a number and then however many tickets they have to give out for people to buy, you know, they give it really a fair chance to everybody. So puck drops tonight at 5 00 p. M. They are going to be handing out rally towels and tshirts to everyone who is going to attend. Back to you guys. Janine, thank you so much for that update. Well, giants rightfielder hunter pence will have surgery on his torn right hamstring on thursday in dallas. The physician of the Dallas Cowboys will perform the surgery. The giants trainer says dr. The giants just lost two of their three two of three games to the st. Louis cardinals. They are back home to host the Boston Red Sox for two games beginning tomorrow. That is too bad. Big blow. Yeah, that is, because hes had a really great season so far. 6 46 is the time. Lets check in with sal for a look at traffic. Right now we are looking at a commute that is definitely busier than it was even just 30 minutes ago. You will see that traffic here on highway 24 is crowded, still moving but more crowded passing lafayette on the way to oakland. At the bay bridge you will see the traffic is going to be busy as you drive through this area, there are no major problems getting up to the toll plaza but its about a 15 to 20 minute delay. I do want to remind you that traffic on the tracy triangle is slow, 205 as it merges to 580 and all the way until you get into the livermore area, but after that, the traffic has been noticeably better. As a matter of fact, a lot of people have written to me saying once they added those extra lanes from livermore between livermore and dublin, what used to be kind of a really bad commute, you can see the road centers are not bad and this might be the new normal. We are hoping anyway. However, 680 is slow now as you drive out of the stone ridge area down towards bernell road and down to fremont. 6 47. Lets go to steve. Sal, thank you, sir. Well, this week a lot different than last week, for sure. Last was all about that warm temps to hot conditions that carried into most of the weekend but that fog bank is back now and its going to be here for a while looks like. In fact, i have seen out about 15 days and sure looks to be like the trend is going to be more towards normal to below normal temps here. We will ease into it here but william tweety is in vallejo. Good morning. Vallejo Current Conditions 57, fog and a light breeze. This is perfect weather. Thanks, my pleasure. I would do it for you. Marty batiste, awesome opportunity monday, steve. Thank you, marty. Larkspur with 56 degrees and some peekaboo sun for the tomatoes. Coast and bay temperatures really took a plunge and they will continue to do so. Inland temps, slower process, but even those are coming down. Santa rosa from 85 yesterday to 76 today, oakland down eight, livermore out of the 90s to 88 and 88 in san jose downtown to 82 today. So i think tomorrow will even be probably about 78 to probably 86 so temperatures will continue to slide west southwest, 24, west at 12, west at seven, those are all onshore breezes, the direction of the wind coming from. 50s, 60s on your temps, they have been stuck here most of the morning, really not much of a change, 53 morgan hill to gilroy 65, santa cruz upper 50s to low 60s but even san jose state Meteorology Department at 56 running cooler than some there. Low clouds and fog not going anywhere. They will retreat back to the coast. Thats the low on saturday, gave us clouds and humidity but another system will move in and thats downing bump the cool to mild to warm, breezy at times to windy for a few. When you get that delta breeze that strong thats usually the sign that the wind is going to pick up. 60s, 70s, 80s unless youre well away from any fog influence. Clear lake and also vacaville, but even pittsburgh cools off pittsburg cools off, 80s from walnut creek into pleasant. 80s for many here including san jose, Santa Clara Valley now coming down as well, upper 80s for some, but 60s on the coast or 50s. Too much fog, 60s in the city, 70s, 60s on the peninsula. Cooler, cooler. Will take us into friday and level off into the weekend. Definitely handle that. Yes. A little toasty. Thats nice. Thank you.
