Overnight, one person on interstate 580 was hit and killed by a car in oakland. A man called chp before 1 30 am to report he hit someone walking on eastbound interstate 580 near the keller avenue offramp. Officers went to the scene and found the victim on the ground. Three lanes were shut down for about two hours. All of interstate 580 is now open. Top republicans are reluctant to throw their support behind donald trump even though it appears he has the nomination locked up. On the democratic side, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are gearing up for a fight here in california. A huge wildfire in canada that forced 80,000 people to evacuate just keeps getting bigger. Brian flores is in the studio to talk about the battle the firefighters are dealing with. Reporter several challenges. Officials say the fire that has been burning in the Fort Mcmurray area of alberta is one of the worst theyve seen. Fire Officials Say air tankers will not stop this fire and they are hoping for rain. This morning there was another convoy of evacuees that escape the area. About 8000 were airlifted to safety yesterday. Fort mcmurray is surrounded by wilderness and there are two ways out on the road. Either head north toward work camps or head south where most of the evacuees are headed to cities like edmonton and calgary where people can get services they need. Firefighters say hi wins, scorching heat and low humidity and the landscape have made it a tinderbox. The fire has burned approximately 330 square miles teen some communities have been destroyed. And still out of control. It is crazy to see the people trying to evacuate. We are seeing some of the video next year. There are flames on either side of their cars. In california we have seen that as well. People need to be aware of that this week, especially with cal fire naming this fire awareness week. The scenes in canada bar are amazing. Back at home, and Alameda County firefighter was rushed to the fire hospital after it higher in san leandro. The started around 5 pm at a home on liberty street. Flames spread to an unattached garage. Firefighters say no one was home at the time. We do not know how the firefighter was hurt but on twitter officials said the firefighter is expected to be okay. Three people were hurt including a 73yearold woman in a santa rosa Apartment Building fire. The started before 4 pm yesterday at the bethlehem towers on tuker street a neighbor said he found the woman in her apartment, her clothing was on fire. He moved her to safety. She suffered second and third degree burns the man suffered minor burns on his hands. Another woman was taken to the hospital. She had problems breathing. The cause is being investigated what Officials Say the victims clothing may have caught fire after she came in contact with her stove while cooking. There are new developments in the expanding investigation into the death of prince. Tmz tried to talk to both mill valley addiction specialists, dr. Howard kornfeld and his son, andrew. Both refused to comment on the day before prince, representatives of prince called dr. Kornfeld to help treat him for a reported addiction to painkillers. The students mother said the teenager immediately reported those messages but le was allowed to keep his job. He was arrested last week on felony charges of soliciting lewd images from boys online by what police described as a catfishing scheme. He was posing as a female. They protected an integral an individual who conduct. Because they failed to take meaningful action many more children were harmed. In a statement the district said in 2014 the School District received a complaint that mr. Le exchanged texts which complaint inappropriate language with students. It was unprofessional and unacceptable that there was no criminal activity and it did not rise to the level required for dismissal. The tour was first organized in 1997. Cyclists started in new jersey and made their way to the national Law Enforcement officers memorial in washington, dc. That ride in 1997 had 18 cyclists and has grown to include 1900 riders including a large contingent from the bay area. They area officers are cycling, remembering their own. We are riding for an officer who passed away last year. He was a sergeant in our department. He was coming up on his anniversary. There is a big contingency from here. We are riding in memory of him and all the other fallen officers throughout the past year. This is one story and one for these officers to write. Over the years they have raised 18 million for the national Law Enforcement officers memorial fund. The ride is set to start on monday. Officers and supporters will roll into dc on thursday. You can see some officers lined up and getting ready to go into security. I spoke with one officer who said that this is his third right. He said the last two have been incredible. Once they make their way into washington dc, de pere off and go to buy two through the streets. They say it is an incredible sight to see. That is a very healing moment for them as well. Something for them to do to get through some of this. They say it is a very emotional moment. One of the officers said that as he is going into dc he will be thinking about scott.
