He died yesterday at the age of 69 after a battle with cancer. He just marked his 69th birthday on friday, the same day he released his new album. He died peacefully surrounded by family. Well have more coming up at 6 30. And a body part was found at the Downtown Berkeley bart station weeks after a woman survived being hit by a train. The bart police say the woman lost part of her leg when she was hit by a train last month. And they think it likely belongs to her. A gunman is still on the loose after a he shot and killed a man on a crowded bart train. It happened as the train pulled into the station. Allie rasmus is there with the latest. Reporter the man wanted for shooting and killing another passenger on board that bart train has not been apprehended by police. We are hoping to get some more information from bart officials and police to find out the latest on the investigation and the gunmans whereabouts. Saturday evening at 8 00 is where all of this happened. A train full of passengers was heading to the station. Despite efforts from passengers who tried to help the victim, doing cpr, there were reportedly two registered nurses that rushed to help him as well. Unfortunately, the man died from his injuries. This is the first time in decades a Fatal Shooting has happened on board a bart train. The last time that happened was at the el cerrito bart station in the 1990s. Just about everyone has heard about what happened. But as regular bart riders they were undeterred. It doesnt stop me from using bart. If Something Like this happens again, the chances of it happening right away is slim. You have to be knowledgeable. I see things almost every day, whether its somebody that looks out of character. I just think its going to happen and i dont think its uncharacter. But of course it makes you think twice about your safety. Bart police say theres Surveillance Video from the station and the train. But theyve declined to talk about that piece of evidence as part of the investigation. Were hoping to hear more later this morning on the investigation and the search for the person responsible for the Fatal Shooting that happened saturday. Back to you guys. Police in vallejo investigating a deadly shooting that happened near maple and woodrow avenues. Police found a man lying in a front yard and he was pronounced dead a couple of minutes after paramedics got there. Neighbors heard the gunshots. Two gunshots and then the dogs jumped up and started barking. And i went out to look. And didnt see anything. And three minutes later the police were here. Police say the victim was 22 years old. We dont know his name yet. Police have not said anything about a possible motive. And no arrests have been made. The latest violence in vallejo happened hours after a special event called for peace. Were tired of it and ready for it to end and stop. We should not be using our Young Children to gun violence in the streets. That event was organized by the mother of Atierra Westbrook who was shot last august in her car. The case is not solved. Mothers affected by violence from as far away as sacramento were there at the event calling for an end to the code of silence that keeps witnesses from coming forward. Attorney for a reputed chinatown gang leader, raymond chow plan to appeal the conviction. The jury came to a verdict after two days of deliberation. The charges include murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and racketeering. And sentencing is scheduled for march 23rd. The murder conviction carries a mandatory life sentence. It could take a year to extradite Joaquin El Chapo guzman to the United States. He was recaptured in mexico six months after he escaped from a maximum security prison. And yesterday he was told he was wanted in the u. S. One security expert says the longer it takes for the Mexican Government to hand him over to the u. S. , the more likely hell escape again. Translator the longer he stays in the system, the more relaxed the guards will get and the more probable a new escape will be. A few months before his recapture. The city entered into a contract with the nfl to close the park and lease the site to turn it into a soup media village a super bowl media village. A judge denied a temporary restraining order against the nfl and thats why work has already begun. The media village is being built on soccer fields and holes are being driven into the ground and the grass is being covered up with flooring. Two fields in sunnyvale are being offered to the soccer field but they are only available monday through thursday. The games are on the weekends. The judge could grant a preliminary injunction. The Soccer League is looking to see if they can use fields at one of the colleges. Lots of preparation being done around here because super bowl l is less than a month away. And traffic here is going to be okay on highway 24 between the walnut creek area and the caldicott tunnel. At the bay bridge toll plaza youll see the traffic is backed up for a 15 to 20minute delay. No major problems driving through. Ive been looking at the south bay and the Santa Clara Valley and we dont have a lot of traffic yet. Theres slowing, but no problems on highway 17. And just like last week we had terrible commutes and these other commutes when its not raining look pretty good. Speaking of looking pretty good. At 12 minutes before the 7 00 hour. Can i share my bitterly cold experience. Thank you. Mount spokane at night skiing and it broke down and i was sitting on it at five below. And that was it. I was done. Wow. Were done here. Our rainy pattern is kind of on hold. Theres just a little guy there now. We have light drizzle. Up in the north bay in lake county, but theres not much to the system. Theres a system wednesday that looks good. And another system friday and saturday and the pacific is very, very active here. So a little break from the pattern here compared to last week and over the weekend. And there are signs of this system the next one is a stronger front. And the pacific all the way back to japan has a series of systems not necessarily all going to hit us. Partly cloudy to partly sunny later on. And cloudy this morning with light rain. One system, here comes the next system. And theyre just racing across. And they are helped by a good jet stream. And this month will continue the month of bringing systems. Some not much but others better. A little bit of rain and most locations not reporting much. Cob mountain is super funny. Everything is watch this system come in and disappear.
