A developing story where the chp says two people are kimed in a fiery crash. But this happened around 2 30 this morning on northbound highway 1 in paloma avenue in pacifica. Two vehicles were involved in the crash and caught fire. Right now, both lanes of northbound highway 1 are blocked while the chp investigates. Well, volunteers sorry, alley. At the San FranciscoSalvation Army are making sure people still enjoy a warm meal. Packing up meals for seniors and people homebound because disability or illness. Theyll start delivering the food at 7 30 u. For many seniors who live alone, a visit by a volunteer may be the only contact they have at all on christmas. Two prominent charity will also serve meals today. And special families in need. And they will have breakfast from 7 00 until 8 30 this morning and kick off celebrations in the sanctuary at 9 00 a. M. And for the 23 period Straight Year yesterday, the famous house of prime rib restaurant served prime rib with all the fixings to some 3000 people. Over at st. Anthonys dining room, they will begin serving christmas dinners to low income families starting at 10 00. Players in the ucla will help serve those meals today. Nebraska will be at st. Anthonys. Ucla. Foster farms also donated more than 10,000 pounds of chicken to both places in order to get those meals. Last night was the teams final game in oakland, they gave fans quite a thrill. The protesters also want the mayor to get involved. They say they will be back at city hall again next week to demonstrate when the mayor is back from vacation. Woods family has filed a rockful death lawsuit against the city. A miami law student is suing to overturn the transportation security administrations new security measure that will require travelers to go through full body scanners instead of being able to chose a fullbody fatdown. You it would eliminate in a lawsuit, Jonathan Corr bit says he prefers the patdown option and it should be a travelers right to chose. Travelers might prefer to avoid full body scans if they cannot walk or cant hold their hands aabove their head. The tsa says it does not comment on pending or ongoing litigation. Well, a developing story out of pacifica this morning where two people are dead after a fiery crash on highway 1 overnight. The chp says one of the drivers was going the wrong bay. Ktvu fox 2 reporter is live near the crash and says the northbound lanes near paloma avenue are shut down. Well, alley, the chp has been out here for four hours investigating, and a sig alert has been issued. Right now, they are toeing both the cars away and the corner has arrived. Here is what happened. Around 2 30 this morning, the chp got a report of a car fire. When they arrived, they found two cars involved in the wreck. Preliminary investigations says one of the drivers was heading the wrong way and crashed head on to another car causing this fiery crash. The wrongway driver dried. And an uber driver was behind the wheel of the another car. His passenger died. The chp says the passenger may not have been wearing a seat belt. The uber driver of another car was taken to a nearby hospital. The extend of his injuries arent known. We are told he was conscious when he left the scene. The chp now investigating drugs or alcohol were factors in this crash. They are hoping to open this portion of the highway at around 7 00 this morning. They are diverting traffic. The southbound lanes are not affected. This is a life look at the bay bridge toll plaza. Very few cars. Probably could count them on two lands. No problems trafficwise. All local transit agencies are offering operating on separate schedules. Two dozen express lines will not run. Bart is operating on a holiday sunday schedule. Caltrn will operate on a sunday schedule. Ac transit and golden gate transit transit are also running on sunday holiday schedule. Santas helpers were up late last night so that thousands of kids in San Francisco would have toys to play with this christmas. Thats right. Were at leftie o cools in San Francisco yesterday morning with the restaurants annual last minute toy drive got underway. It continued all the through the day and night not ending until 2 00 this morning. People could bring the toys inside and drive by and drop one off. Organizers hope to collect 15,000 toys. Some were delivered to kids last night. Others will be distributed later this morning. Also later today, santa will bring a Holiday Cheer to homeless and low income people. The jolly old st. Nick will be there to pass out gifts in their dining room at 12 30 this afternoon. The organization serves free meals there every day. The charity says it serves more than 90,000 meals to people each year. Stores opened last. Target was open until 11 00 last night. We caught up with some people in their store. Many retailers offered extra markdowns for those procrastinators. Lots of junk food. I was like there are a few more things. Lastminute shoppers told us they have found great deals on things like wrapping paper, holiday decorations and some clothes. San francisco continues to offer an alternative holiday celebration. A gilroy family had been accidentally overpaying their property taxes for years and got a big refund check yesterday. As ktvu tells us, it is just one of many checks that will go out in the coming weeks. It wasnt santa, but the Santa Clara County assessor so he came bearing gifts. I am very pleased to bring you a check for nearly 28,000. The check, a refund. As it turns out, they had been overpaying their property taxes for 13 years. You know when the government makes a mistake, gentlemen an obligation to fix it to make it right. It was a mistake aarron uncovered and thanks to her assistance, the Assessors Office didnt realize she wasnt alone. There were 216 families in gilroy living not below market rate housing that werent getting the tax breaks they deserved. Some of the resident hearsay been overpaying for 2 years. We might lose our home. A home we built. So i just kept at it. Contacting people. And getting the word out that we needed help. The Assessors Office took quick action and will now refund the total amount plus interest, about 3 million between the 216 families. And this is a big blessing to come right on time on Christmas Eve, and we owe it all to erin for being the voice of our neighborhood. The refund will allow husband gabriel to quit his second maintenance job and for erin to pay off the medical bills. I cant wait to cut out my credit card and i am going to keep one. Nowadays you have to have a credit card. But i definitely want to be able to be out of debt. Reporter erin says he doesnt she doesnt blame anyone for the mistake. Shes just glad it is getting fixed now. You know, i have a feeling that there is a time for everything. And this just happened to be the right time. Authorities say 18yearold westbrook pulled out a gun at north lake mall in charlotte and began firing. Witnesses say shoppers were returning running for cover hiding in stores. An off duty officer nearby heard the shots and confronted westbrook. He was shot and killed after police say he pointed his gun at the officer. They say the shooting was part of a longtime dispute between two groups of people. Well, in pleasantton, police need your help tracking down a thief. Surveillance cameras caught these pictures of a man stealing a package from the front steps of the home. It happened wednesday at a mall at a house on maywood drive near springdale. The homeowner believes the man took the package a few minutes after the mail carrier made the delivery. She says its the second time its happened in the past month. If you know who this person is, please call pleasantton police. Some of the states most hardened criminals are complaining they are not getting enough sleep. Dozens of prisoners at pell can pay state prison accused the guards there of keeping them awake. The inmates say they were awakened every half hour for overnight security checks.
