The fire was moving to the north and west towards less populated areas. Crews want to make sure that the access road is available to crews throughout the day as they try to get a handle on what the fire may be doing today. Were joined from the santa rosa fire with a quick briefing. And were wondering how things may have developed overnight. This is what you want to see. This is the weather that allows us to do good work on the ground and from the air. Yesterday we had challenges. We knew wed have the southerly wind. It created a spot fire that got established on the west side. That was the focus yesterday and overnight. Were moving around on the other side of the fire where we had the evacuations in place. One of the efforts is trying to make sure that the fire is on the inside of 128, right . You dont want it to come south. A majority of our containment the focus is containing and continuing to improve lines on the west side of the fire. And use the old footprint from 2014 from the monticello fire. We know where we have ridge lines and well move on the west side and try and button this up. If it burns to the north, its a more sparsely populated area. Its not going to affect a lot of homes or individuals. Correct. It wont affect the population but its going to affect us from the standpoint of being difficult to contain. And the suspect is inside. Theres a Hostage Negotiator communicating with the suspect. The standoff started yesterday afternoon and its believed that the suspect barricaded himself inside. San Francisco Police are not releasing the identity of the suspect nor will they say what he is wanted for. They were led to this apartment complex. They are communicating with him. Authorities investigating a bus crash in Merced County have revised the death toll. Now they say there were four People Killed not five. The initial chaos is blamed for the incorrect count.
