The victims bodies are being removed from the pulse nightclub, and the priority todays to identify all of the victims. All but one victim has been identified, and they have the task of informing the relatives, and that is underway. We have the latest from orlando. Reporter we have quite a bit of new information from the News Conference, and we understand that the city of orlando is releasing the names of the victims, the youngest victim was only 20 years old, the oldest victim was 50. This morning the federal, state and local officials are trying to piece together what happened inside the nightclub. Witnesses have told them it was a normal night of dancing and drinking, and minutes after 2 am, someone started firing, 2 am sunday morning. Some people were not sure whether the noise was part of the music, and moments later they realized it was gunfire, and they tried to escape the club. The Orlando Police chief said that the officers were able to rescue many people even as the shooting continued. There is a hole in the wall about 2 feet off of the ground, two or 3 feet wide, and we were able to rescue dozens and dozens of people that came out of that hole. Reporter he talked about how the Armored Vehicle made the hole in the wall. The chief said that the gunman omar mateen came out from the hold that the police made in the wall of the nightclub, and he and officers then engaged in a shootout, and omar mateen died in the shootout, and one officer was struck by the gunfire, but his kevlar helmet stopped the bullet, and the officer is said to be in Good Condition this morning. And because omar mateen is dead, it is not clear whether anyone else will be charged in the case. We also got to hear about the phone call that the shooter placed from the bathroom of the nightclub after all of the victims had been shot, he was Holding Hostages in the bathroom, made a phone call on 911 pledging his allegiance. His allegiance to isis. And the exwife of the gunman said that he appeared to be normal just after the marriage but problems quickly developed. s back i saw his instability and he would get mad out of nowhere. That is when i started to worry about my safety. After a few months he started abusing me physically very often. Not allowing me to speak to my family, keeping me hostage from them. I tried to see the good in him even then, but my family was very tuned into what i was going through and decided to visit me and rescue me out of that situation. She said that her family had to physically pull her out of the arms of omar mateen on the night that she left him. Emotional instability, he was mentally ill, and he was obviously disturbed. Reporter do you know if he was diagnosed bipolar . Im not sure about that, but i know he had a history. She said that she is not had contact with him in the seven years since they separated. They also found camouflage clothing in his car. The suspect made an initial statement to the effect that he was going to the pride festival, but he did not make any statement saying he would do anything further than that. Still following developments in that deadly mass shooting in the Orlando Florida nightclub, 49 killed, 53 injured after one man started shooting and took hostages early yesterday morning. The fbi is saying that the gunman that was eventually killed by the police placed allegiance to isis. And we were just there at the News Conference we watched it live. Reporter we have learned a lot, learning the motivation and the thought process on the local level. When they went in, and why they waited, and why did we have a threehour timeline, and we knew that at 2 am the gunman came forward, engaging a local Police Officer working to security. There was a gunbattle on the street, and he went into the pulse nightclub, another gunbattle, and he locked himself in the bathroom, and he was locked in the bathroom with the four or five other people. There were 15 in the nearby bathroom, and why did the police not to win, a big question overnight. I asked the police chief overnight, and he said things work cool and calm, and that is how he described the gunman, and he did not see an escalation of the process. They were trying to get him to give up the hostages that he had, and we ask what change the situation that made him think it was time to go in. He did not give specifics, but said that they knew that further death was imminent. They said they knew that the rest of the people in there would die. Based on this, they took an explosive device to punch a hole in the wall but that did not work. They didnt took the Armored Vehicle and it left a hole 2 to 3 feet wide and that was big enough for the gunman to come out and try to engage the Police Officers, and that is when they shot the gunman dead, ending the horrible ordeal three hours after began yesterday morning. I know the fbi said their task today is to continue to identify those killed and identify and notify the loved ones. Is there still one victim unidentified . Reporter yes, but they did not give specific reason why that one person is left to be identified. The press conference wrapped up a halfhour ago, and they were only able to notify 24 families, so 22 families are waiting desperately to hear that my loved one, friend or child made it out alive, and they will be told later today, and that is the number one job for the federal agency today, alerting family members. And where they ask whether there would be anyone else charged in this case . Reporter the local police or more forthcoming than the federal folks, but they said they are investigating and talking to people to find out if anyone knew this was coming. And if at the end of the investigation they find out that someone knew that this terrible massacre, or had a hint of it, there will be criminal prosecution. They said it is still early in the investigation, and the atf was here and confirmed that there were two guns on him, i handgun and an assault rifle. He did most of the shooting with the assault rifle, and he mowed down 100. We found out that a third gun was in his car outside. The time is 5 34 am.
