Lets go back to the desk. A death at the Santa Clara County jail is under investigation. The manager of the jail has been watched because a beating death their last fall. Janine de la vega is in san jose. Tell us about the latest case. Reporter the media was told about this death last night but this inmate actually died on monday. According to sheriffs officials, the third is kural man 36 rolled man was put into custody and booked into the jail for a warrant last thursday. The medical staff was made aware of several preexisting medical conditions so he was placed in the infirmary. On monday the staff determined he needed to be taken to valley medical center. Officials say he had a medical emergency and died several hours later at the hospital. There have been eight inmates who died in custody since last year. Releasing this information is one of the reforms put into place after the death of michael tyree, an inmate who was beaten to death. Three cards are charged in that death. Earlier this week, results of a federal investigation involving the jail were released. It cited a lack of adequate training, supervision and staffing at the jail. At this point, no evidence has come forward to suggest there was anything suspicious about this latest death. The Sheriffs Office and the coroner are investigating. Back to you. The trial of an oakland man in accused in the killing of an eightyearold girl and another man is nearing an end. This week testimony finished with defended, Darnell Williams sister taking the stand. She testified she drove her brother to the dice game where a 22yearold man was shot and killed. She said her sevenyearold son witnessed the shooting and that he was hit by the fragment of a bullet she admitted to telling her son not to mention anything he saw two police. In a separate incident, williams is also accused of firing shots through a home in retaliation for a gang killing. The shots killed Alicia Carradine and injured two other children and the grandmother. Closing arguments start next week. East bay prosecutors have charged a minister with 23 counts of child molestation. Fernando maldonado is accused of sexually abusing a teenage girl from 2012 through 2015. The girl is 17. Investigators say she reported the allegations to Martinez Police last week. Iauthorities say maldon auto worked at a church in martinez and Grace Bible Church at Pleasant Hill where he met the young girl. Federal drug Officials Say seven people have been treated at bay area hospitals because they took what they thought was a common painkiller but was really something more powerful Drug Enforcement agency said the patients bought what they thought was a norco. The da said the pills also contain sentinel ethanol. The patients complained of having problems breathing and vomiting but they all survived. There have been 52 cases of norco poisonings in the sacramento area in the past month 14 of those people died. Drug officials are looking to see if the bay area and sacramento cases may be connected.
