Fans all over the world through the music street still stunned and in shock this morning by the sudden death of prince yesterday at the age of 57. An autopsy is scheduled today in minnesota. But the results may not be known for several days. The awardwinning superstar died yesterday at his paisley park home and studio compound outside of minneapolis. And heres more on the investigation into the death of prince. All of these things will be looked at, but the most likely thing, from the history, is unfortunately, some kind of drug overdose. Representatives for the musicians say he was sick with the flu. Investigators are trying to contact the hospital in moline to get his medical records frmgs maybe thats true, but im concerned about this issue of why is he getting better. Prince performed a private show at his home in the minneapolis suburbs a day after the Emergency Landing. Everybody who was there said he looked great, he sounded great. And you know, thats not consistent with somebody who has the flu. Fans gathered outside of paisley park and say they cant believe their favorite musician is gone. Loved prince, the guy could play every instrument, he brought a lot of other artists with him, i mean, and no one could do a slow song like prince. Princes first manager says hes shock asked devastated by the loss. He ask believes there is much more to hear from the 7time grammy winner. Ive heard that there are things at paisley park that he records and records and records and things that they will be unpacking for years and decades to come. Princes autopsy is expected to be done today. In new york, patricia park. His signature color, the San Francisco city hall is beautiful lit up in purple. There are many opinions as to why prince loved the color, the most common is that purple is historically associated with royalty. Prince performed many times here this the bay area, one regular spot was the auditorium. He took the stage in 1982. He returned in 1993, per foring his megahits, including purple rain, in 1999. Oracle arena is another venue where prince performed, he was there on march 4th, a few days after appearing at oaklands historic paramount theatre. Was a lastminute addition to the tour, tickets sold out in minutes. Arena management says oracle will be lit in shades of purple ffr for the next week to honor prince. There are several events in the bay area this weekend to pay tribute to prince, a local dee jay is hosting a roller disco tonight, and tomorrow night, at 7 00 at the church of 8 wheels on till more street, an fill more street, an abandoned church. Theres another dance party in Golden Gate Park at noon. He was certainly loved here in the bay area, but in minneapolis, the hometown of prince, fans paid special tributes to him and celebrated his life and his music. [ music ]. Look at that. And in other news this morning, crews are monitoring a sinkhole in San Franciscos Pacific Heights area. Live on the scene, where crews will work to try to determine how the sinkhole form oed in the first place, we saw it just collapse on camera. Reporter yeah, it was pretty amazing, pam, lets take a look at the sinkhole here on california near lions street, you can see its about 20 feet across, and about 10 feet deep. You can see some of the water running through the area. This the bottom of that sinkhole, right now, crews going to be coming out here later on this morning to try to determine what happened. Now, this is on sacramento in San Francisco, not one of the major arteries through town but it will affect your morning commute in you go east and west in San Francisco, extra traffic on california street this morning. Ktvu was on scene as the sinkhole formed. It started out as a depression, and the sinkhole gave way. Somebody called in about 8 30 this morning. Reporter were going to come back live with charles from San Francisco public utility commission. This ultimately is a sewer issue here in San Francisco, what seems to have caused this sinkhole and what happened later on this morning. Later on this morning, well have repair crews have been mobilizing all night. Theyll begin a condition assessment, get in the hole, begin making repairs. And at that point, theyll try to determine why the sewer line broke. And why the sinkhole occurred and they usually occur in tandem. So theyll make that assessment when they get into the hole and begin repairs. Reporter we see some Running Water at the bottom of that sinkhole, is that from the rain were seeing right now or is that from the sewer line that might be open . Its probably from both, the rain and the sewer line, the sewer line is broken. When were done with the repairs and we remove the dirt thats where the sewer line has been leaking. Reporter and how long, any estimation on how long the sinkhole will be here, is there an estimate of how long it might take . The man is a musical genius. Now, although prince was reportedly quite sick recently, he was still seen out and about in minneapolis, riding his bike around town, apparently visiting his Favorite Local record store, in minneapolis. And then he even hosted a party for many of his fans at his compound just this past weekend. And a lot of people who were in attendance and saw him over the last couple of weeks said he appeared to be doing quite well. But again, an autopsy will happen later on today, authorities will likely not release the results of that autopsy for a couple of days. In another news, San Jose Police are investigating a recent rise in the violent crime, including 3 homicides within four days. On saturday night, 18yearold cruz antonio castro, was walking with friends near lindale and story road, when several men got out of a car and fatally shot him. Monday the body of 24yearold carlos was found after he was gunned down near road. On wednesday night, 43yearold jason mckenna, fatally stabbed his father at a Mobile Home Park south of downtown. We are concerned about whats happening in the last, you know, week or so. We have killers, out and about. Theyre amongst us, and we need to take them off the streets. Now, a search for suspects continues in both shooting deaths. Last year, there were 30 homicides in san jose, right now, san jose has recorded its 14th homicide, only four months into the new year. Well, the body of a missing east bay woman has been found, a man has been arrested in connection with her death and the parties are searching for one more suspect. The body of 47yearold kimberly was found tuesday in a shallow grave outside of a home. She was last seen march 28th, but was not reported missing until april 12th. The police say she died shortly after she disappeared. 37yearold dillon reece has been charged with murder. Authorities say he was arrested a day after they found the possible crime scene at a home in richmond where they had searched for her. Authorities are still looking for a second suspect, 43yearold andre of richmond. The investigators have not said anything yet about a motive in the case. An antioch man has been side identified as the victim of a shooting on highway 4. 28yearold moreno was shot. His car crashed through a fence and he died at the scene. The Highway Patrol says month ren no was targeted. Moreno was targeted. This was the 18th freeway shooting in the east bay in the past 6 months. And police say in general, they believe the victims were targeted and followed on to the freeway where there are fewer witnesses and an easier chance for a get away. Today, bay area congresswoman jackie spears announcing new legislation that would make it easier to prosecute Utility Companies for Pipeline Safety violations, its in response to 2010 blast that killed 8 people, injured dozens of others, and destroyed many home s. Spear will sdro deuce the prosecuting introduce the prosecuting explosions action in san bruno, along with the mayor. Just granted another postponement in that trial. And the director of the fbi suggests that the agency paid more than a Million Dollars to break into the iphone of one of the San Bernardino shooters. James made the remarks at the Aspen Security Forum in london yesterday. According to the justice department, investigators unk loed the iphone with the help of an unidentified third party.
