Police say he was killed by the father of his 6yearold grandson, that child inside the home at the time of the shooting. Police officers assembled and saluted the body of gus vegas as he was brought out of his home. Vegas was a 15 year veteran officer with the richland Police Department. Investigators say vegas was shot to death yesterday morning, at this point Police Believe it was a domestic dispute there were family members who said that the suspect was the father of gus sixyearold grandson. Police saying that suspect is 30yearold robert vega, after the shooting vega left the home and drove to fairfield, thats where he was arrested. A family friend said that the 30yearold is a veteran who came home messed up, suggesting he has ptsd. Richmond and vallejo are mourning the loss of gus vegas. Turning to the San Francisco Police Shooting investigation of mario woods, an autopsy report just released from the medical Examiners Office shows he was shot or grazed 21 times. Most of the wounds were to his back and side, one bullet grazed his cheek. And five injuries from nonlethal beanbags. There were meth, marijuana, two antidepressants and a cough syrup. Woods stabbed a man and when officers confronted him he was holding a knife. He ignored repeated warnings to drop the weapon.
