And getting there from the east bay is a breeze so far. Back to the desk. A gunman still on the loose this morning after he shot and killed a man on a crowded bart train saturday night. It happened as that train pulled into the west oakland bart station. Allie rasmus is in oakland now. Whats the latest on the investigation. Reporter bart spokespersons have not released any new information on the investigation into the shooting since yesterday. We are hoping to hear from them. In the meantime, things are back to normal at the west oakland bart station and they have been since yesterday morning with trains rolling through. It was obviously a very different situation on saturday night when all of this happened. Police closed the station and had to interview passengers because of a shooting that happened on board a train near the stop. It was 8 00 saturday evening when a man opened fire on the train, shooting a passenger several times. Once the train pulled in, the gunman got off the train, fled, and has not been found. He is still at large. Terrified passengerrings and witnesses tried to help the wounded man. But the man died from his injuries. Heres what witnesses observed moments before the shooting. The killer was purposeful in terms of waiting until we got to west oakland, firing the shots and getting off the train. Ive never heard of a shooting on the train. Its unfortunate to hear that. Obviously, any time you have a tragedy, thats a scary situation. Reporter bart police say theres Surveillance Video from the station and the train. But they have declined to talk about the investigation on camera. So far weve heard only from the spokespersons from bart. Again, we are hoping to hear from them later on this morning and get more information about the investigation and the whereabouts of the gunman. Back to you guys. Allie rasmus in oakland, thank you. Vallejo police are investigating a homicide. A man was shot near maple and woodrow avenues. A man was lying in a front yard and was pronounced dead a few minutes after paramedics arrived. Neighbors say they heard gunshots. Two gunshots and the dogs jumped up and started barking. And i went out to look and didnt see anything. And three minutes later, the police were here. The victims name has not been released and so far, police have not said anything about a possible motive and no arrests have been made. The latest violence in vallejo happened moments after an event calling for police. Were tired of it. We should not be losing our Young Children through gun violence in the streets. Our innocent children. Event was organized by the mother of atierra westbrook. That case is still unsolved. Mothers from as far away as sacramento were asking for an end to the code of silence that keeps witnesses of crimes from coming forward. Mexico is now starting the process of extraditing drug king Joaquin El Chapo guzman to the United States. He was captured six months after escaping from a maximum security prison. Extraditing him back to the u. S. May take months. A few months before his recapture. Sean penn traveled to a rural part of mexico to interview him for Rolling Stone magazine. Two fields in sunnyvale are being offered to the Soccer League but they are only available monday through thursday and the league says the fields are too small and the times dont work because the kids games are on the weekends. Daly city police are searching for a woman suspected of hitting another person and a Police Officer with her car. She was wanted for slamming her car into someone during an argument. When an officer tried to arrest her on friday reportedly she struck the Police Officer with her car and took off running, the officer suffered only minor injuries. The u. S. Supreme court will hear arguments over a legal challenge to californias largest Teachers Union. Some want to leave the association without having to pay a fee to the union thats currently required by the state. Teachers who support the union say it could reduce their clout in the political system. The union represents 325,000 teachers. Bo Governor Brown wants to increase the amount of money spent on students. The recession forced cuts but its less than the National Average which is 11,800 per student. And one of californias oldest one room School Houses is facing a deadline. All it needs to stay open is one more student. Union school was established in 1895 in the hills south of petaluma and for more than a century its been educating the children of ranchers. It teaches second through 5th grades all in one room. The state requires six students. Because sick days, the attendance has fallen to 5. 9. Every student has that oneon one experience. Teaches you science, music, art, p. E, and i think its fun clam. The school has put out the word hoping to lure other students from petaluma or novato. The school has until the end of the month to find at least one more student. Reporter 200 games were scheduled all the way through april on the soccer fields. But thats not happening. The fields have been covered up. And the city promised the fields to the nfl because a media village is being built here to house thousands of journalists who will be here for super bowl l. The Youth Soccer League has filed a lawsuit against the city and the nfl. And a Court Hearing is happening involving the case. The city entered into a contract with the nfl without holding a public hearing. A judge denied a temporary restraining order against the nfl and thats why work has begun on the soccer fields. The nfl promised to repair the fields but the league is worried because under the contract its only required to restore one of the two natural grass fields and lower quality grass may be used on the other fields and the third may never be restored. Fields in sunnyvale are being offered to the Soccer League and they are too small and only offered weekdays. Today at the hearing, the judge could grant a temporary injunction. Dozens are taking advantage of the snow. Time now is 5 55. The planned opening of the bike and pedestrian path may be delayed. That path stops short of Yerba Buena Island and its scheduled for this summer but it may be delayed because of a change to an observation platform. The path will let cyclists and pedestrians go between oakland and Yerba Buena Island. Most drivers are paying less than 2 for a gallon of regular according to aaa. Drivers in st. Louis are paying the least at 1. 66 a gallon. As usual, california has the highest prices and the prices are Holding Steady from last week. In San Francisco, drivers pay an average of 2. 83. In san jose, 2. 73. In the east and north bay, about 2. 71. They are all up a dime from a month ago. Riding uber got a little cheaper. The Ride Sharing Company cut prices for some services in the bay area. In San Francisco it fell by 10 . The price for xl dropped by 20 . In the east bay it fell 20 . The cuts will help increase the number of rides requested and the price cuts could be changed if drivers earnings fall this year.
