People are cleaning up around the bay area after some weekend storms. Yeah, i know you saw the storms. Heavily heavy rain, strong winds knocked down powerlines and plenty of trees. Would you like at look at that. In san pablo, a large tree came crashing down on two homes and crushed a car. The storm transformed one oakland road into a forest. That is where a 60foot tree fell missing houses and parked cars. The rain was just coming down real hard, and you know, picked up really quickly. And we heard a big noise, and then the power went out. Open the blinds just in time to see it crash down. Reporter while the rain was too much for storm drains, San Francisco, bill martin tweeted this photo of flooded cars along 87th street. It looked like the grinch visited. The waves crashing over the pier and on to cars. High surf advisories were issueed by the National Weather service by several coastal areas and the waves in santa cruz reached 30 feet high. The coastguard is synching for 12 missing containers that fell off a cargo ship on friday. Sales force founder actually spotted one of the containers near San Franciscos baker beach and tweeted these photos of green crates that also washed along the shore. There is the container there s. The coastguard says the the coastguard says the container and those crates fellover board during rough seas. The containers were empty. The crates were being cleaned up on the beach. The coast guard is warning boaters to keep an eye out while the search continues for missing containers. Also this morning, police in the east bay are looking for one man police say tried to kidnap a teenage girl during the weekend. She fought back and made a lot of noise as this man tried to force her into his truck. Neighbors heard this struggle and came in to help. Eventually, the girl was able to get there free. Now, this attempted abduction happened just after 11 00 on saturday night. The teenage girl was walk ago long nielson street near sanoma avenue. That is when alabama banny police say a man in a parked pickup got out and tried to get the girl into his truck. She fought back and caused a commotion and the van eventually drove off. Police say the truck they are searching for is white in color, in good condition, and has some tie items in the bed of the truck. At the time of this kidnapping, there was a second person inside that truck. Now, police say the man who grabbed the girl on saturday night was hispanic in his early o 40s about 5 8 with dark hair and a short stubble beard. Sheriff deputies in Los Angeles County says a man who was shot and killed by two deputies on saturday was holding a gun and would not put it down. Take a look at this security and video photos released by the Sheriffs Department that appear to be shoal 28yearold Nicholas Robert son holding a gun. The Sheriff Department also released 4911 calls from people who say they saw robert son firing shots in t air robertson firing shots in the air minutes before he was killed. Cell phone video shows two deputies firing 33 shots at robert son even robertson even after he fell to the found and was trying to crawl away from the deputies. Investigators say the deputies kept shooting because robertson still had the gun in his hand. Robertsons family is protesting demanding justice. The investigation continues. Well, a new report is out saying San Francisco police chief greg sir wants to give his officers shields and tasers to reduce the use of deadly force. This comes just two weeks after five officers shot and killed a man in the Bayview District when he refused to drop a knife. According to the San Francisco chronicle, the crowd control shields would be used when Police Confront someone with a knife. The report says the idea is modeled after Police Policies in london. Shore shoppers in concord will have some extra protection this holiday season. Police officers will be patrolling sun valley mall through the holidays, and they will be checking the parking lots to see crimes of opportunity like car breakins and theft. Police say those types of crimes are more likely to happen because shoppers are carrying a lot of packages and they may be distracted. I think the more we just get out and talk to people whether they look suspicious or not just being visible is really our goal down here to prevent the crimes from even occurring. Now, this follows a series of fires related to this popular toy. According to swagway, a major seller of hoverboards, amazon sent out a notice that all hoverboard sellers have to provide documentation that their hoverboards meet safety standards. There have been at least ten reports of hoverboard fires in nine states in recent weeks, and the United StatesConsumer ProductSafety Commission is actively investigating the situation. Well, there is an alarming new report about Close Encounters between drones and air whyen planes. The new study out of college in new york finds that over the last two years, there were more than 300 reports of a drone coming within 500 feet of a plane. Almost a third of those incidents involved a commercial plane. In some cases, the pilot had to avoid colliding with a drone. The past studies show depending on the size of the drone, hitting one of them could cause catastrophic engine failure for the plane. Bird strikes give indication of what can happen. A bird that is made of softer materials than a drone can penetrate the cockpit which is another area that is somewhat worrying. If a drone were to go through the cockpit, it could seriously injure a pilot, and that is not a great situation for everybody. That study says most of the drone sightings happen within cities within five miles of an airport and at altitudes higher than 400 feet, all of which are faa violations. In oakland, noelle walker, ktvu, fox 2 news. Strong winds caused some problems for Airline Passengers this weekend especially in oakland. An Alaska Airlines pilot told air traffic comptrollers he was nearly blown off the runway. Just be advised out of oakland, we encountered severe wind sheer. Describe it best that i can o the winds came across the runway and just about pushed us off the runway. Now, the wind calmed down by yesterday afternoon, but several pilots reported wild winds and severe turbulence earlier in the day. One pilot flying at 4000 feet even said a strong downdraft dropped his plane another 300 feet as it was approaching the runway and while there were a few rough rides, there are no reports of injuries or damage to the plane. 5 34. Several rock slides closed northbound interstate 5 through the grapevine for about four hours last night. Those lanes were closed between 7 35 p. M. And 11 15 p. M. Traffic was backed up for miles. Some people did find alternate routes around the closure. Others, they just turned around, went back, and or checked into motels for the night. Back in october, mud slides closed both directions of interstate 5 through the grapevine for two days. Cars were stuck in all that mud between 2 00 and two and six feet. Now, some people em were trapped in their cars and they had to be rescued. Time is 5 35. The fbi is now investigating the vandalism of two mosques in Southern California as hate crimes. Someone spraypainted the word jesus on the front gate of a mosque in hawthorne yesterday and left what appeared to be a hand gee maid in the driveway. The bomb squad was calmed out, and they determined the grenade was just a plastic replica. Police were called again after vandals spraypainted the phrase jesus is the way on a second mosque in that same city. By itself, its not very dangerous, but we felt that the graffiti was a bit too much, and with all the incidents going on. Now, the two incidents came just days after Police Arrested a man on suspicion of starting a fire at an Islamic Center in palm springs. A congressional hearing will be held in sacramento to find ways to combat gun violence. This comes on the third anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and less than two weeks after the San Bernadino terror attacks. Fbi divers have recovered a few items from the lake not far from the shooting scene. Investigators have not said if the items are linked to is shooters, but federal agents did get a tip that the couple may have thrown a computer hard drive into the lake the day of the attack. Individuals were radical xized way before probably radicalized as early as 2010 for him and 2012 for her. There are also reports that the female shooter in San Bernadino went through three separate background checks before getting her visa to the United States, and that none of them raised a red flag. Five people were killed and one critically injured in a fire in an abandoned house in fresno. Fire crews say the home had been emty empty for many years and was boarded up. One window near the living room had been pried open and people were living inside. Police say the truck they are looking for here is white. It is in good condition. It has some items in the back of it. And at the time of this attempted kidnapping, apparently, there was also a second person inside that truck. Police say the man who grabbed this girl on saturday night was hispanic in his early 40s about 5 8 with dark hair and a short stubble beard. Police again are still looking for him. Two San FranciscoPolice Officers rescued an 84 yearold woman who was stuck inside of a sofa bed more than 12 hours. Now, on the day after thanksgiving, these two officers of the richmond station of richmond station were checking on an elderly woman who lives aloan. She didnt answer the door, but the officers heard her faintly calling out to them. Police say the two officers got into the house. They found the womans sofa bed frame had cracked.
