Across the east bay we are off to a nice start. 580 through Castro Valley and 880 from san leandro to fremont. The Oakland School district investigating a Junior Varsity football coach. Ktvu fox 2 alex savidge is joining us live in the studio. There is a new video showing the coach pushing a student. Reporter good morning to you. A confrontation between a coach and one of his players captured on a cell phone camera. Someone sent this video to ktvu and the Oakland School district and now the district has launched an investigation. You can see there the dispute begins on a bus as the Football Team is heading home from a Football Game about a week and a half ago. The man in the baseball cap has been identified as Junior Varsity football coach decarlos anderson. As the student gets up from his seat. Anderson told him to sit back down. You can see him push the student and it escalates. The student is a senior at mccry monos. The district says its placed anderson administrative leave without pay pending the clout school of the outcome of this investigation. Disappointed to see this behavior from an adult. Reporter now this confrontation happened back on september 19th as the team was driving back to oakland from a game in crescent city. The district says the 39year old coach anderson has worked there for four years. First he was a substitute teacher. Now hes a pe teacher and also the coach of the jv Football Team. Students we talked with on campus they call anderson a mentor who respects his students. It remains of course to be seen whether he will be keeping his job. The districts Hr Department and the Schools Police force are investigates what happened here. It will be interesting to hear more from other players, parents. People are saying a lot of positive things about him. People are shocked what they saw. He would be the one caught on video doing Something Like this. But there is still his side is to the whole story. The School District didnt want to reveal what his side of the situation was. That remains to be seen. Richmond police are asking for the publics help in solving a double homicide. Just before 8 30 last night the citys shot spotter system. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Richmond police hope anyone with information about this double shooting will come forward. A man is being questioned by Alameda County sheriffs about two deaths in Castro Valley. Now investigators say a man and ament who were found dead at the cheatwood crest mobile home park. A man was inside the home with the bodies. He was taken into custody. A friend says that man being questioned is the female victims son. Investigators are not saying much educational about this case although they do say they are sure the couple was murdered. Los altos is crime in los altos dropped 70 between 2013 and 2014. Though burglary spiked this past spring. Meantime oakland had the most crimes with 17 Violent Crimes for 1,000 people. Third in the country. The fbi report says oaklands crime rate did fall in almost every category. Time is 5 05. Now to the latest in the valley fire. They expect to have it contained by friday. As of this morning the fire remains at 97 contained. 76,000acres have burned. Almost 2,000 buildings including 1300 homes have been destroyed. The valley fire is the third most damaging wild fire in california history. The 1991 Oakland Hills fire was the worst. Today is the second day of classes for students in middletown since that big fire started september 12th. Both the students and the teachers say its going to take a long time to feel normal. School supplies were donated to help students ease back into class. 25 of these students in the middletown School District lost their homes in the fire. About 5,000 in gift cards have already been passed out to students who lost everything. The school is also raising money by selling these tshirts with the words middletown strong. Homeowners in areas at high risk for wild fires could have a really hard time finding fire insurance. Californias insurance commissioner says more people may be dropped from fire coverage or they could see their rates go up dramatically because of the higher wild fire risk in california because of the drought. There is also a report of a crash southbound 101 north at Caesar Chavez. There could be two but there is something right here. Please give yourself extra time. Speaking of the bay bridge. If something happens top the traffic up there, metering lights will be slowed down. The metering lights are on. Its backed up for a 15 minute delay if youre at the end of the line getting on to that bridge. Were also looking at the south bay commute and that cute is off to a good start 101, 85, and 280. Lets go back to the desk. Thank you, sal. The Santa Clara CountySheriffs Office is looking into another inmate death at the main jail in san jose. Three inmates have died since august. Janine de la vega is joining us now from the jail where the latest death happened just weeks after three correctional deputies were charged with murdering another inmate. Janine what happened in this case . Reporter we are still waiting to hear prompted this inmate to die. It could be Natural Causes which was the case of the female inmate who died last month. We just dont know but the jail is under a microscope after jail guards here were arrested for murder. A correctional deputy found the inmate unresponsive in this cell at 10 30 yesterday morning. Efforts were made to revive him but he was pronounced dead a half hour later. Sheriffs officials are not releasing his identity. The sheriff has publicly voiced her disgust for their alleged actions and implemented mandatory training for new recruits on how to cope for mentally ill inmates. She also plans to modernize the jail with a new camera system. As far as the latest case is concerned, once an autopsy is performed by the coroner we should get more answers into the cause of death. Shifted low level felons from state prisons to county jails. Supporters said it would save the state money and reduce the rate of rearrests for convicts. But the Public Policy institute of california finds that prison spending is up slightly and the number of criminals has not changed. But the realignment did not create a spike in Violent Crime as some had feared. Happening today in Santa Clara County a line backer for the 49ers accused of a sex crime is scheduled to be arraigned. Ahmad brooks is facing a misdemeanor charge of sexual battery. A woman is claiming Surveillance Video at mcdonalds home shows while she was unconscious brooks groped her in a sexual manner. Both the nfl and 49ers are reviewing this case. A sailboat got into trouble. The 36foot boat was getting knocked around in the surf and washed ashore. Park police were called. Rescued two men and a dog. It turned out one of the men had an outstanding warrant. He was put into handcuffs and taken into custody. No names have been released but the man in custody is from San Francisco. The other man is from texas. The chp is look for the driver of an suv who talked during a traffic stop yesterday. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over at the fifth street onramp to the bay bridge in San Francisco. The driver took off before finally crashing at the Treasure Island off ramp. The chp says the two people inside ran from the scene. The passenger was caught hiding underneath the off ramp and taken into custody. The driver remains on the run this morning. Oakland man is in jail accused of stealing several new smart phones from a Verizon Store in martinez. 38yearold kim was booked into the Contra Costa County jail on burglary charges. He is being held on 20,000 bail. Authorities were able to trace ten brand new apple and samsung phones to a home on webster street in oakland. A search warrant was issued and all of those missing phones were recovered. Socalled killer bees are now right here in the bay area. Researchers say the bees have been discovered near briones regional park. Now if youre not a bee expert like me, researchers say they are hard to tell apart from honey bees. Until now the bees have only been detected in inland communities. They have not been this far north. The bees may be moving to the bay area because of the warmer temperatures. We are closing in on flu season and Health Officials are warning everyone to get vaccinated. The flu is highly contagious. It spreads most rapidly between october and may. Some parents fear that they can cause autism and other develop mental disorders. But the centers for disease and control and prevention says this years vaccine has been modified to better flight the influenza virus. Critics of the new vaccine law turned in thousands of signatures just ahead of last nights deadline. They are hoping to qualify for a Ballot Initiative asking voters to repeal the law requiring mandatory vaccinations for school children. 356,000 signatures are need. If opponents have enough signatures, the new law would be put on hold until november of next year. State senator richard pan a pediatrician and the bills author says delaying mandatory vaccines is not in the best interest of public health. It just means our state remains vulnerable far longer period of time to potential outbreaks. Its unclear whether supporters have enough valid signatures.
