There are going to be detours all over the place. Anywhere between morgan hill and san jose on 101 you may come across some detours. Some are long. We will get into them coming up but the first thing i will say is if you are planning to head out today extra time is needed. There are just a couple things. Never drive into standing water. There are situations but if you can avoid it dont drive into standing water. You may need to be rescued. Lets move to live pictures. You can see live pictures on traffic. It looks okay. The city of san jose has declared a local emergency as two neighborhoods are now flooded. Sky fox flew over the rock spring neighborhood off center road near happy hollow park. That brown muddy water at the top left of your screen. Thats the over flow from Anderson Reservoir going into coyote creek which crested yesterday at 13. 6 feet. The highest in i hundred years. Here is a look at mandatory evacuation areas. About 300 homes in the rock springs neighborhood. Evacuated earlier yesterday. Then last night residents of three Mobile Home Parks were told to evacuate. Officers went door to door at the south bay Mobile Home Park ordering people to pack up what they could quickly and leave. Rushing water from the coyote creek went through a back wall and flooded the com flex. We could see the video of that wall. We talked to one man who has lived at the Mobile Home Park for 20 years and this was only the second time its been flooded and much worse than the first time. I feel a bit emotional. I feel that rain is kind of defeating us. Now shuttle buses took them to a relief shelter where they spent the night. The south bay Mobile Home Park has 550 homes and some are deciding to stay with family and friends instead of going to that emergency shelll interest. James Lick High School in san jose with sun of the emergenciy shelters. Amber lee talked to people who say that they are in shock and wondering what they will do next. You want to grab one of these. She and others who were evacuated say that the water level rose quickly. There was only one way to react. They left with the help of rescue rafts. What were you able to leave with . Just my daughters clothes because i couldnt bring anything else. Reporter the mayor stopped by the Evacuation Center to offer reassurance. We have Police Departments deploying both officers and reserve officers item in those neighborhoods to make sure there is no looting or more damage. Reporter donations large and small came in to the Evacuation Center. One woman with the help of the new Mission Community church brought a van load of items ranging from food to toys. Have to do something. That was my initial reaction. I came to to one of the sight coordinators i ended up seeing a little girl and all she had in her hand was a little mickey mouse. She was about my daughters age. I cried. Reporter images of families being evacuated on television inspired one woman to donate after she got off work. I got clothes and i have some shows i have a roof and they dont. Im gratel for that. Some are cold. You know whatever he we can do to come and help the kids. Reporter people who were evacuated say they are gratel for the support but are working with the uncertain future. Yeah im really scared many we dont know where itll happen. We have to wait until for april to see what we go back home and he see the damages they cause and what we go from there. Reporter there are now two overnight Evacuation Centers open. The one here at james Lick High School. The other at evergreen high. A third one is on stand by. San jose fire crews have a lot to do before many of them will be allowed to go back home. The flood waters the creek are badly polluted. They are urging people who havent already had to go through the flooded area to stay away saying several factors are making the water dangerous. It could be sewage from the pipes that are now under water. It could be gas and motor oil and transmission fluid. Battery acid. Any other chemical in any of those home Social Security now in this water. Reporter firefighter its say that anyone who comes in direct contact with the water needs to be decontaminated and checked out. Some evacuation orders have been lifted. 5 hub fled their homes after a levee breach. The people still under evacuees orders can go back, check on their properties but only after getting an entry permit. The levee breached in a rural area and many are praising local farmers for finding the problem before it got even worse. They were all right there. If it wasnt for them to spot the levee and they have levee patrols going on throughout the night. In case if there is another leak or boil. The county officials they to temporarily repair that they had to take material from a more stable part. Now they want to repair that stronger section. Despite the rain water levels at the orrville dam are going down. Thats good news to the resident who evacuated more than a week ago after damage to the two spillways was found. As of early this morning water level was at 852 feett. Peaked at more than 900 feet. New this morning the city of san leandro is declaring itself a sanctuary city. They passed areolation to that keep police from working with federal immigration. Oak lapped, richmond, berkeley and emoryville and alameda have approved similar resolutions. The president has signed a order to deny federal funding to the safe haven cities and that could amount to millions of dollars lost for bay area cities. They also call for hiring five thousand more Border Patrol officers and then thousand more immigration and customs agents. However white house president secretary said that mass deportations is not the goal. The message from this white house and from the dhs is that those people who are in this country is and pose a threat to Public Safety or have committed a crime will be the first to go and we will be aggressively making sure that happens. The new rules donta effect the estimated 750,000 immigrants who came to the country illegally as children but they were protected from being deported under president obamas program. Local churches are planning a demonstration on march first in San Franciscos Mission District to oppose the new immigration policies. The one that concerns me is both directions of mckee and 880. Right there in the middle its closed. Why is it closed in. Because of flooding. They are waiting for the water to go down. This is going to be a major closure. Hopefully the water is going down and they will be able to reopen it. This is just between you and me. Seriously. Berkeley police say at 1 45 yesterday afternoon the 20year old angel jaurez stabbed the principal of the via center and then ran. The school was put on lockdown and the principal was taken to the hospital where she was treated for nonlife threatening injuries. The chp spotted jaurez two milessa away and we were watching as police took him into custody. Mental Health Worker was also called to the scene of the arrest and the case is under investigation.
