It continues to turn up until that front goes through and you can see the air flow coming out of the south. One system. This one is diving more to central and Southern California but we will still get rain out of that and a huge wind produce tomorrow. Rain for the morning drive. This is fine. This is fine. Traffic is moving along well in some areas and not in the others. The rain is causing problems out there. I want to show you that westbound 580 we have road work there. A couple of lanes taken away and traffic will be moving along slowly. You can tell by the road sensors that traffic is going to be a little slow. I want to mention that westbound 24 as you come close to the tunnel is a lot of water thats running down the hill. I think its a familiar problem at this point as you go to the tunnel. This is like a little river on just before you get in and if you arent paying attention you could end up in the other lane. Im looking around to see if there are any accidents there. So far nothing but, its kind of tough driving in that spot. Be careful if you are going to hit the road. You can see traffic at the toll plaza doesnt look bad. We have rain, heavy rain coming down. 280 and san jose. It looks good and i didnt mention this. Im just noticing there is an injury accident westbound 580 at Castro Valley boulevard with the paramedics and the Fire Department rolling to that. Lets go back to the desk. The orrville dam is being closely watched this morning. The first big rain moves in since that emergenciy spillway failed earlier this week. Water level at the dam is at 871 feet. Thats more than 30 feet below where it was at its peak last sunday. Officials hope they have lowered it enough for todays storm. Still people are very nervous around the Feather River near the dam. Almost 200,000 were allowed to go home but they still feel like they are at the mercy of the water. We used to play out there and canoe, kayak. Most of the time its enjoyable and then there are times like this where it wears on your nerves. Some local businesses like coffee shops, actually reopened for the First Time Since last sundays evacuation. Other businesses are still closed. At a downtown tattoo shop the owner removed supplies and the Cash Register because they are costly to replace in case of another evacuation or possible looting. The projected rainfall through monday shouldnt be enough to cause more problems to the two damaged spillways. The main one is holding up despite a giant hole that formed last week in the concrete chute. To reduce the water level they are using that spillway to release 100,000cubic feet of water a second. Thats about 750,000gallons of water. That structure and its holding up well. We are monitoring that spillway as well as all the other little pieces that we have in place to make sure if anything is starting to change we are aware of that. They plan to reduce the water releases in the next couple days. As for the emergency spillway trucks and helicopters continuing to dump tons of rock and concrete onto the hillside that forms the back up spillway. Orrville Police Arrested a burglary suspect just hours after the Evacuation Order was lifted. Officers have been patrolling neighborhoods to prevent looting and they say the suspect had a backpack with items stolen from a business. Authorities say there were handful of burglaries during the evacuation but no looting. A concrete platform on top of the San Francisco highrise has been stabilized and most Evacuation Orders have been lifted. Want to show you what caused the concern yesterday. This is on top of a condo building. At one point a concrete pumping structure on top was tilting. Firefighters feared it could fall from the building. The building is between first and second. Its between howard and folsom. Hundreds from nearby Office Buildings were evacuated. Amber lee has more on the chaos at that scene. Reporter under the night sky crews spent hours shoring up the platform thats holding up the concrete pumping structure thats leaning. Officials say they receive aid call at 2 45 from construction workers putting concrete on the roof. They reported that the platform had failed causing the pumping structure to lean. The it had failed that caused a heavy piece of equip known be put in a compromised situation. Reporter the assistant fire chief said that fire crews evacuated nearby buildings and closed surrounding streets. When they start blocking off multiple blocks im worried about my apartment getting flattened. Reporter Officials Say that 16 buildings were evacuated. Out of what they are describing as caution. People who live on the street that are closed off or have vehicles park theres were escorted in by firefighters. Its inconvenient right now. I would like to get home. It takes two hours to drive home. It seems wortht. Reporter the assistant chief said that the citys building and Fire Departments have determined there is no immediate danger of the structure or will fall. Wood and metal are being used to shore it up. That pump will have to be cut from its base. The crane that is next to itll attach to that pump and itll be lowered. Reporter amber lee. Again most Evacuation Orders have been lifted with the exception right across from the construction site. Most surrounding streets are back open. We are told the pumping structure will be removed from the roof with a crane. Happening today a nationwide boycott called a day without immigrants. Many immigrants will stay home from work to protest the president s policies. Its designed to show how important immigrants are and how the American Economy would suffer without them. Immigrants are being told to not go to work, eat at restaurants students not to go to class. Some restaurants including some owned by immigrants will be closed today in support of the protest. Restaurant. They sent out they are taking part in the day without immigrants. Rumors that federal immigration agents who are doing raids in the east bay sparked panic. Contra Costa College reported seeing ice agents yesterday. The school was quick to say the report was false. Ice also took to twitter to say the reports were false, dangerous and irresponsible. There were also claims of agents at the cosco store in richmond and the west oakland bart station. Tensions are growing between the white house and the Intelligence Community with the president complaining about a series of leaks of classified information. We have more from capitol hill where both democrats and republicans are calling for investigations. Reporter there appears to about a growing level of mistrust between the president and the Intelligence Community thats supposed to serve him and democrats and republicans here want to know more about the a series of leaks. At a press conference with israeli Prime Minister the president took on a familiar target. The United StatesIntelligence Community. Papers are being leaked, things are being leaked. It would have them were honored with the gold medal of valor. The officer chased down and captured a man accused of trying to kill a chp officer. That officer confronted two men at a homeless camp near the on ramp of the bay bridge when one took out a knife and slashed the officers throat. He attended last night, recovered from his injuries. Im feeling humbled. Im also so happy to see the officer recover from his injuries and back to work. The suspect, a 45yearold is charged with attempted murder and will stand trial next week.
