New from overnight, Morgan Hill Police tased a suspect during a confrontation tat walmart parking lot on cochran road. It happened just after 10 30 last night. Morgan hill police tell us here at ktvu news that the wasnt involved a felony car stop. Police say a passenger got out, but refused to follow the officers commands. The suspect was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Time is now 4 00. Hours ago, early this morning, President Trumps nominee for health secretary, georgia congressman tom price was confirmed by the United States senate. He was approved in the 5247 vote right along party lines to head it up the president of headlight and human services. Now, price has promised to dismantle president obamas health care overhaul, make changes in medicare, and cut federal funds for planned parenthood. Now President Trumps travel ban is still on hold after yesterdays ruling by a federal appeals court, but the president says this fight is not over. The ninth Circuit Court of appeals in San Francisco unanimously rejected the president s request to restore the travel ban. The president immediately reacted on twitter, saying and im quoting see you in court. The security of our nation is at stake. But the question is, which court . Reporter the panel of three judges on the ninth Circuit Court of appeals, two democrats, and one republican, came to a unanimous conclusion in their ruling they rejected the summations claim that President Trump has authority to act on National Security matters without review by judges. The judges said neither the Circuit Court nor our court has ever held that courts lack the authority to review executive action in those arenas for compliance with the constitution. And as i said, as we have said, from day one, that those laws apply to everybody in our country, and that includes the president of the United States. Reporter the Washington State attorney general praised the ruling. President trump vowed a show down, talking to reporters off camera. Its a political decision. Well see them in court. Reporter mayor tells me his parent immigrant experience is a continuous reminder of the work he still need to do to improve the lives of all immigrants. One project thats underway is the renovation of all of the city public housing, and another goal is to provide more affordable housing. As mayor, he says a fun part of the job is participating in the Chinese New Year parade, an event he has enjoyed for deck kids as a behindthescenes volunteer since 1994. He said he helped set up booths and work logistics. Lee says his favorite part is the audience. I love going through the crowds and seeing the different ethnic faces of all the crowds, seeing the 10yearolds. Reporter whether lee is working the parade, or at city hall, meeting the conditions of running San Francisco, or out greeting constituents, he takes it all in stride. Some critics suggest the mayor has forgotten his roots, but he tells us he wants to be known as the proud son of immigrant parents, who lander to listen, observe, and unify.
